Spots everywhere!

I just finished this quilt yesterday and it’s become an instant favorite!

If you remember, I came up with this quilt idea when going through my fabric scraps. I realized I had quite a lot of polka dotted fabrics and decided that would be the theme of this quilt. I wasn’t so strict about the polka dotted theme – anything that reminded me of a polka dot was included… including Amy Butler’s Martini Dots, and Joel Dewberry’s Chestnuts and Chestnut Branches.

It was fun to include so many different designers and so many bright colors. It makes me happy just looking at it!

I opted for a little pop of green in the binding, and used Amy Butler’s Seeds in Okra. I really like the color that brings to the edge.

Nice weather we’re having, eh? You can tell winter’s on its way. Not sure how many more times I can convince Morgan to go outside to hold up my quilts for photos!

A trip to the city

Good times! Thanks to everyone who provided recommendations.

We did take a LONG walk to Purl Patchwork – great little store with fabric to the ceiling. I picked up a few prints – mainly polka dots (see, I just can’t help myself!). It looks like I may have to start another polka dot quilt! (speaking of, photos to come tomorrow of the newly finished Spotted Squares).

I missed out on the City Quilter – closed on Mondays – but I did check out Mood, which really is just as pictured on Project Runway. Overwhelming, for sure.

On Sunday we headed out to Brooklyn to see my cousin Zach and cousin-in-law Kim (I’m going to keep using that term Kim!). We had a great time checking out their new place (wonderful!) and the great shops nearby.

Sunday also happens to be the day of the Brooklyn Flea Market, and how was I to resist? A giant yard sale, I’m there! I thought it was fabulous – Morgan and Zach may say otherwise…

I think this is Zach expressing just how much he was enjoying himself…

loads of treasures, I’m sure!

My favorite little booth was a cute little shop out of Brooklyn called Winter Water Factory. They have great hand printed items and may soon offer fabrics. I bought a couple of their fabric samples – seconds, I think, and tried several times to talk them out of their tablecloth (one of their other fabrics which they did not have available there) – no luck.

On the walk back home, we found another shop selling some fabrics, and so of course I got sucked in

I’m pleased to say that I did not get sucked in by any of these items, also for sale (even the business…)

Anyone interested?!

a few of those missing details…

New York City was great fun – lots to do and see, and even though we only saw a really, really small portion of it, we had a lot of fun!

Thank you to everyone who left such nice comments and congratulations. I enjoyed reading each and every one and I love that so many people took the time to leave a comment.

The lack of details was simply due to a lack of time, though it seems as though it’s led everyone to believe that I have a super story to tell… I’m afraid you won’t be getting that… I didn’t choke on the ring in my dessert, he didn’t propose while skydiving, or in neon lights in the middle of Times Square…

Instead, due to Morgan’s fear of the ring being pulled out of his bag during the security check and having to propose right there with the airport security guards (that might have made for an interesting story!), he called me downstairs at 6 am on the morning we were due to leave for New York. I was still in the middle of packing and dressing, and still not quite awake, and was taken completely by surprise when he dropped to one knee and pulled out a ring.

So there you have it — no huge story…

…but still perfect.
