i heart echino… and patchwork

I continue to collect Echino fabrics, even though I’ve only used them in one quilt, the large Echino log cabin. I enjoy just looking at them, and even have a few stretched over canvases as art in our home office.

But I haven’t been motivated to make another quilt with them… until this week that is, when I saw this one. I love it! It’s my favorite mix of patchwork squares with great printed and solid fabrics, and I knew I had to make one. Right then. (Even though I really didn’t have time for such things!)

munki in the middle, version 2 (a & b)

So this is a tale of two quilts… twin quilts, actually. But to be perfectly honest, it’s not so much a tale as it is me just showing you a bunch of photos of my newest love. And yes, I totally love this quilt. So much so that I had to make it a twin. The first one was intended for the shop, but then I fell in love, and so the second one was then destined for the shop, but now they seem so happy together… and yikes, this is why we have no room in our house!

By now you’ve probably seen Jacquie’s Joy in the New Year challenge. Count up the number of unfinished projects you have and leave her a comment letting her know how many you have. The goal is to finish as many as you can before the new year. There are a number of prizes to be awarded and it might be just the push we all need to get some of those projects finished! As of last count, I think I only have 3, though I probably should have said 4. I have one that hasn’t really been started, but that must be finished before the end of the year, so hopefully I’ll have at least one finish. I don’t really expect to finish either the never-ending string quilt, or my queen sized munki munki quilt.
