you can’t go wrong with goldfish, right?

By far my favorite go-to print for a baby boy quilt. (I don’t know what I’ll do when I run out!)

The latest –

Simple brown and blue prints, with the goldfish as the star. I love it already.

Remember this stack?

little-folks

They’re prints from Anna Maria Horner’s latest line, Little Folks. It’s printed on beautiful cotton voile, which is just gorgeous! So soft… and so nice to work with. (You can read more about it and see all the prints here.)

After spending quite a bit of time just admiring them (and running a hand across them every time I walked by, and sometimes rubbing my face against them oh wait… that wasn’t me, that was Morgan!) I decided to cut into them…

Of course I knew I wanted to use them in a quilt, but I had trouble coming up with a design worthy of the fabrics. In the end, I went with a simple old favorite – patchwork squares. I opted for fabrics from the Playground palette – I just love those yellows, greens and that wonderful pinky/red! And I added in a few additional blue prints for extra variety.

And I think it’s gorgeous! Did I mention how it feels? (yeah, yeah, we heard… it’s soft!)

Anyway, I’m looking forward to seeing how it is after quilting and washing…

If you want to pick some up for yourself, I bought most of the printed voiles from Hawthorne Threads, and the solid voiles and Pastry Line Dobby Dots from Fabricworm.

a whole lot of flea market fancy… in a quilt (finally!)

FMF-quilt-top

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that Flea Market Fancy was the line that got me hooked on fabrics. Almost two years ago I received a tiny bit of the green seedling print in a scrap bag and immediately fell hard for it. At the time, it took me a while to even figure out what line it was and who had designed it. Since then I spent far longer than I should have collecting the prints from the line. (Many many thanks to those of you who provided tips, swapped, or even just generously sent along some extras — you know who you are! — I very much appreciate it!)

I’ve been using it sparingly in many quilts, but I’ve finally bit the bullet and decided to make a quilt out of the whole line.

I decided to model it after the Good Folks quilt I made for my sister, using large squares of the Flea Market Fancy prints and mixing in a few blocks which are made up of the print paired with a corresponding solid. It’s pretty big and I’m so looking forward to curling up with it on the couch. What’s kind of funny though is that despite my love of this quilt top, I still cringe a bit just thinking about the quantity of FMF I used up in this quilt! (and I bet I’m not the only one!)
