charming…

I’m quite taken with Anna Maria Horner’s new line, Innocent Crush, and despite having several projects I should be working on, I just couldn’t resist cutting into a few of the prints. I decided to try a little something with the charmed palette, which contains lots of lovely purples (which typically aren’t my thing, but which I’m loving in these fabrics!)

I have a vague idea of what I’d like to make, based on a little sketch I made many months ago. I think it was something I woke up thinking about one night, and I’ve been waiting for some non-directional prints to try it out. I’m slightly worried that it’s the kind of thing that looks better in my mind than translated into a quilt design, but we’ll see!

Either way, it’s certainly fun to play with these new fabrics!

starburst quilt – the munki version

Well, at least I got one thing checked off my list this weekend! While I didn’t manage to start anything new with that fun stack of fabric, I did find the time to get this little quilt quilted, bound and washed. (I was hoping for better weather for these photos, but I guess I have to take what I can get!)

I decided to use a lot of my favorite Heather Ross & Munki Munki prints in this quilt, along with similarly colored basics. I love that it makes for a really bright and colorful quilt, with lots to look at!

I used the Amy Butler Sunspots in green for the backing, and quilted it with lots of great straight lines. The lines meet in several spots to form a starburst pattern with the quilting. I couldn’t decide on the binding, but ultimately went with a purple solid to pull out the bits of purple used in the quilt top.

This quilt measures about 36″ square, and I can really imagine it as a great playmat for a little one. It is listed in the shop now!

ready for the weekend…

I’m hoping to have a fabric-filled weekend, how about you? Here are a few things I’m hoping to work on this weekend…

Maybe a little something out of these fun fabrics. Now that the weather’s getting cooler, I’m turning more towards these darker, jewel-toned fabrics. They feel fall/winter-ish to me.

And I definitely need to work on using up some more scraps (they’re still multiplying!). I’ve been storing some in this fabulous new enamelware casserole dish, which was sent to me by the sweetest reader (thanks so much Sheila!!)

Perhaps I’ll find some time to finally get around to quilting this little starburst quilt!

And I think I’ll be spending a little time waiting by the mailbox for my Innocent Crush fabrics!

(there’s also a lot of cleaning that really needs to be done, but that just doesn’t sound quite as fun, does it?!)

Hope you’ll have some fabric fun this weekend too!
