101 Patchwork Projects (+giveaway!)

I was so happy to receive a copy of this wonderful magazine in the mail earlier this month. You may recall that I mentioned that my Rubik’s Crush quilt would be included in this magazine – I sent the quilt and the instructions off to Interweave several months ago, and now it’s so exciting to see one of my quilts in print!

And it’s in there alongside so many other wonderful projects. This is really a fabulous magazine, packed full of so many (well, 101!) patchwork projects. They’re separated into several sections – gifts, dining, kids, pets, and quilts, to name a few. I’ve been having a great time paging through it and picking out things I’d like to make.

I’d love to give a copy of this magazine away to one of you. Leave me a comment (one per person, please!) and I’ll select a winner on Friday!

Comments are now closed. I’ll select and announce a winner shortly!

picnic progress…

I have about a quarter of my picnic quilt sewn together. I’ve been finding a few moments to sew every once in a while when Max is asleep in his Moby wrap. I realize I should be taking that time to take a nap myself, or tidy up the house, but as usual, sewing’s been taking precedence!

I’m loving all these bright cheery colors and patterns! I can’t wait until it’s finished — I’m already picturing us hanging out on this quilt this summer!

fancy katie at the fairground… a picnic quilt

Kind of a mouthful! This is the start of what will hopefully become a large patchwork picnic quilt. I’m sure I’m not the only one thinking it would be fun to combine my favorite Denyse Schmidt lines (Flea Market Fancy and Katie Jump Rope) with her new Picnic & Fairground line from Joann’s. I also added in some Kei polka dots, a few Lecien stripes and some American Jane pez prints. It’s bright and cheerful and I think it will make a great picnic quilt.

As you know, I do love me a patchwork quilt, and right now while I don’t have tons of extra time, this is the perfect design. During the past couple weeks I’ve spent a few minutes each day cutting squares out of all these fabrics (in between snuggling with Max and photographing cute baby legs and baby toes!) and putting them up on the design wall. I realized that even though I’ve made a lot of quilts using this type of design, they’ve all been baby sized. I went a little overboard while cutting squares, so I should certainly have enough squares to make up a much larger patchwork quilt. Now onto the sewing and ironing…
