two months

hazel-2months

Hazel was two months last week, and boy what a difference a month makes! The crying has really lessened and she’s turned into a happy, smiling, cooing baby. (Max, on the other hand, seems to have decided to take up where she left off – so there’s still lots of crying, just from a different child this month!)

Thanks for the nice comments on my flax plus quilt. I used one Bookhou fabric pack to make that quilt – at the time they weren’t available, but I just noticed yesterday that they’re available here if you’re looking. It’s a great way to get a little sampling of all their great designs (and with enough added solids, you can make a decent sized quilt!)

I quilted something! Thanks to extra hands to hold a baby and entertain a 2 year old, I found a bit of time to quilt this little quilt.

I really love both this color scheme as well as the beautiful hand printed fabrics from Bookhou. And I do always love a plus quilt! You can read more about the making of this quilt in this post.

The backing is made up of a few of the left over solids, and as luck would have it, I had a nice sized piece of that great Violet Craft bird print sitting on my cutting table left over from the Washi tunic I made recently. Even though I typically like to use fabrics on the back that were included in the quilt top, the color went so well that I had to go for it.

I love seeing those great little pieces of printed fabrics amidst the bold solids and the linen background. After spending so much time admiring these fabrics online, it was certainly fun to finally get a chance to sew with them!

a FabricBubb giveaway

Phew! Those last couple of weeks flew by, and while I intended to blog (and even took photos of several things that need blogging!), clearly that didn’t happen. Computer time seems to come last these days – but not today, because today I have a great giveaway for you thanks to one of my sponsors, FabricBubb!

Today Kristina is offering a fat quarter bundle of the domino dots prints from Violet Craft’s newest line, Waterfront Park. These are such fabulous basics and will be a great addition to any stash. I already picked up a few of my favorite colors, but I’m quite certain that I’ll be adding the remaining colors to my own stash before too long!

Want to win this 8 piece fat quarter bundle? Leave a comment here and I’ll select a winner on Sunday evening. If you’d like, let me know what your favorite basic or current favorite fabric line is. Me? I really love Waterfront Park and hope to get a chance to sew with it soon (I did make a Washi tunic out of one of the prints, but that’s another one of those unblogged items!). I also recently added these great Alison Glass feather prints to my stash.

I’ll select a winner Sunday evening. This particular giveaway is open to US residents only, but Kristina is offering a 10% discount to all readers with code FITFBUBB10. This code is good through Sunday night.

A winner! Random.org selected #275, Gina, who said “I love this line! I have really been wanting to pick it up for a while, but I just bought a house and haven’t had the time (or budget!) to do so!”  Congrats Gina! I know you’ll love these domino dots!
