6 months!

It’s hard to believe that Max is 6 months old already! He continues to be a wonderful baby and we continue to have so much fun with him. He’s loving sitting up, eating solids, playing peekaboo, and hanging out with dad. And now he’s got his eye on anything that’s not meant to be a toy, especially our cell phones and TV remotes (why is it that those things are always the most intriguing to babies?) As of just a couple days ago, he’s on the move, prompted perhaps by these out of reach ‘toys’. He does a funny little crawl, using just his arms and toes and can get where he wants surprisingly fast! I looked away for a second yesterday, and when I looked back, he had made his way over to a new little pile of Liberty scraps and was having a blast tossing them around (he still loves his fabrics!)

[6 month stats: height 28.5″, weight 18.2 lbs]

And here’s a little mosaic showing his first 6 months!

a nautical quilt

Are you tired of all these triangles yet? I hope not! This is obviously the scrappy version, and boy do I love it! All my favorite scraps together in one quilt.

It’s pretty fun to look at this quilt and pick out all my favorite fabrics from past projects.

This one feels very summery to me, what with all those bright cheerful prints paired with the bright white, so I was very happy to finish it up just in time for one last summer weekend.

A perfect quilt for the waterfront, wouldn’t you say?

One of my favorite parts is the straight line quilting. It’s a good thing this quilt is relatively small, since wow, those lines take a long time! For whatever reason, I always have second thoughts when I start straight line quilting like this, but in the end I always love it. This time around I used Quilters Dream Request batting, and I think it’s fabulous. It’s a really thin loft and I love the feel of it, especially with this dense quilting. Maybe not the best choice for cold Vermont winters, but very nice for a summer quilt!

The backing is a solid piece of one of my favorite Flea Market Fancy prints. Time to stop hoarding it and instead put it to use where I’ll be able to enjoy it!

Here’s hoping we have at least one more warm weekend to enjoy this one!

a few more triangles

I couldn’t resist playing around with a few more triangles, though this time focusing on these low volume fabrics and a mix of neutrals for the background. I can’t decide how I feel about it – sometimes I walk by the design wall and love it, and other times I feel like it’s not quite right. I think perhaps it might be one I’ll love once it’s finished…

_ _ _

And for the grandparents, how about a couple photos of the little one?

(love that smile!)

Max’s recent achievement is sitting up unsupported. He thinks it’s pretty fabulous. Apparently toys are much more interesting when you can sit up and play with them.

Have a happy weekend!
