lounge pants

At this point in pregnancy, I’m very much against wearing real pants. Luckily my real job allows me to work from home where sweatpants are perfectly acceptable. (Though there are those times when I have to leave the house, and lately I’ve come to really resent having to put on jeans!)

My sweet friend, Phiona, knowing this, made me a fabulous pair of pajama/lounge pants recently. They’re super comfortable, with a great smocked waist, and of course, in a great fun fabric!

I wore them for days after receiving them, and then convinced Phiona to let me use her pattern to make up a second pair for a little variety. (Unfortunately, for those who might ask, there’s no pattern at the moment. Phiona created her own pattern based on a pair of her favorite pajamas from Anthropologie)

(31 weeks. Very fashionable, right?!)

Well, now you know what I’ll be sporting all weekend!

more sewing for the baby…

We’ve been slowly getting the baby’s room put together – it’s freshly painted, and we just got the crib set up. Which of course prompted a bit more sewing.

We went with gray for the room color, which I love. (Though it did take several test pots to find the one we liked best – gray’s a hard color to select!)

I knew I wanted to add in a little yellow, so when I saw Laura Gunn’s new fabric line, Magnolia Lane, I thought that the yellow tulip print would be perfect for a crib skirt. (I know it’s not very boyish, but I figure I’ll be the one looking at it!)

I also ordered a bit of the plaid print from the same line with the intention of making a crib sheet. As it turns out, it’s not exactly right for the room, but I went with it anyway. I’m quite certain that I’ll be happy to have more than one crib sheet!

And now that I know how easy it is to make your own crib sheets, I think there may be several more in our future!

_ _ _

Oh — unrelated, but sadly I got news from Bea of Aunt Bea’s Fabrics that her shop is closing. She’s having a sale to clear out inventory, and all fabrics are 30-50% off. She has some great fabrics, so if you’re looking to add to your stash, you might want to go take a peek! (I may or may not have felt the need to add to my Nani Iro stash!)

a rainbow of fabrics

I’m totally enamored with these fabrics! I stumbled upon them several months ago while browsing Etsy, and finally decided to splurge and buy myself a little present. They are lovely hand printed fabrics by the talented Hitomi. She resides in Japan, and creates these brightly hued prints on a variety of base fabrics.

For now, I’ve just been arranging and rearranging them in different orders, but at some point I’m going to break down and chop them up for use in a quilt. Something bright and spring-like is a definite necessity right now. With temperatures much below zero for the past several days, I for one am certainly dreaming of spring!

You can find Hitomi’s hand printed fabrics in her Etsy shop, Kalla.
