a (late!) look back at 2015

I was kind of putting off this post, since thinking back it didn’t seem like I had finished many quilts this year. Then I took a quick peek and realized that there were many more than I remembered, so I decided that it would be nice to see them in a mosaic as in years past (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 – looks like I’m on the every other year plan!).

I’m excited to see what 2016 will bring – we’re most excited for the birth of the new baby (any day now – and hopefully sooner than later!), and can’t wait to see how Max and Hazel settle into their new roles as big brother and big sister. One is more excited than the other, so it should be interesting! I also have big plans to make up lots of quilt backs and finally get many of those unfinished quilts finished. I think I may take some help in getting them finished by sending out the larger ones to be quilted. I’m not sure what the next quilt will be, though I’m dying to finish my Carkai stripe quilt. I’ve also been thinking a lot about another Maze & Vale quilt, something out of my large pile of solid and printed scraps, and maybe a series of free tutorials on constructing blocks from my Painted Paddles quilt. Do let me know if there are other things you’d like to see/read here.

As always, I so appreciate you taking the time to read my blog – thank you, thank you!

    Hi Ashley,

You have been gone so long, I thought maybe that little guy had already arrived, and you were resting when you could! My guess is that Max is the one not so happy, since he’s already a big brother. Hazel, on the other hand, hasn’t had a chance to boss anyone around yet…lol. I have a new great granddaughter, born 12/26. She has a big sister that turned 2 in December, and it’s funny to look at the pics and little videos that their mommy posts on FB. Big sister Brandy seems to like her, but every once in a while you can see that “evil eye” sneaking a look at baby McKenzie.

You were a very busy girl in 2015. I see lots of pretty quilts up there. I’m working on a wedding quilt for my daughter and son-in-law that will take a long time for me to finish. I got a strong start, but now it’s starting to wilt!

Glad you’re back. Baby pics soon, I hope. You know how I love those sweet faces.

    xo Linda

Holy cow, one gorgeous quilt after another! I make lots of comfort quilts, so I coordinate scraps, but when you sew using a family of fabrics- it is real stunning!

Great work, and that for being pregnant most of the year! Very nice, I always enjoy seeing what you are up to! All the best in next little while. In case you needed some assurance (so many people told me the jump from 2-3 children was the hardest) my third was a great baby and it was my easiest adjustment, easier than 1-2 kids. (We have 6 now, ages 2-15 so this was awhile ago)

Great quilts. I especially love the photo of the the two quilts flying in the snow held by two people. The colors of the quilt coordinate with the background, and it has a lot of energy.

Ashley, thank you for this post. Even though I follow your posts regularly, this mosaic is a great reminder of how MUCH you have accomplished. I love that it gives us another fresh look at what you made. I have a new attraction to pieces that I seem to see in a new light. Always enjoyed, and inspired by it.

Blessings for this new baby and the whole family.

Any quilt completed is something to celebrate; I would love to have this kind of collection to show for my effort! I’ve enjoyed your work for years and have learned so much. When a quilt is in the thinking stages I often come to your pages for inspiration. I very much enjoy your tutorials. Best of all is your attitude and approach to quilting. You enjoy what you are making and you don’t seem to stress over something that isn’t absolutely perfect in the measurements or outcome etc., That to me is what makes quilting worthwhile. Best wishes to your family and in the birth of the baby.

I think you accomplish a lot of quilt making…. Just wondering, on average if you mostly give them away (gifts), sell or keep….?
