zig zag progress…

I’m still working away on this scrappy zig zag quilt. Somehow it’s ended up much larger than I intended, and now seems to measure wider than its total length… hmm…

I do love all the scrappy goodness! And in fact, I’m kind of already thinking about another version – maybe out of scraps of a single color? Though I should probably finish this one up before dreaming of duplicates!

baby hoot!

Wow, it’s taken me a long time to finish this quilt! I just checked back to see when I initially blogged about it, and it turns out it was over a year ago. I don’t even have any good excuses, either. I think it was just one of those tops that ended up stored in the closet, and I completely forgot about it. It’s nice to finally have it finished!

It’s made up out of the lovely MoMo It’s a Hoot line, and really makes a wonderful patchwork quilt. I backed it with one of the prints from this line, and bound it with an aqua solid, which seems to be my go-to color lately. I quilted through the squares with a zigzag pattern this time.

It measures about 34″ x 43″ and is for sale in the shop!

And now, just for fun, I had a couple extra charm packs of this line left over, so I picked two comments from those received last week. Congrats to LeAnn (who commented on this post) and to Kelly Irene (who commented on this post)! You’ve each won a charm pack of MoMo’s It’s a Hoot. I’ll be sending you both an email shortly.

a new wall hanging?

I’m so happy with how this little quilt turned out! As I mentioned previously, most of these fabrics are the wonderful designs of Shannon Lamden, of Aunty Cookie fame.

She put together this lovely color palette, and it’s truly gorgeous! I wanted her fabrics to stand out, so I did some dense straight line quilting in each of the solid white sections.

I love the way the straight line quilting looks!

I’m thinking about hanging this one as a little wall hanging, so I kept the backing simple, with a nice aqua solid and just one little block to echo the front design.

Now I just have to find a good wall in need of a quilt!

(I’ve never hung a quilt! For those of you who have, do you recommend washing it, or keeping it as is?)
