the week that… wasn’t?

Well, the week is over and I got absolutely nothing done. It was mostly filled with challenging children (the oldest, especially… yikes!), and was one of those weeks to just get through.

I pulled this old (old!) work in progress out to have something pretty to look at during this trying week. I found it recently and am looking forward to getting it finished! (and it will give me another chance to work on my curves… many of those up there are not quite as nicely rounded as I’d like!)

And I won’t lie, these new stash additions which arrived in yesterday’s mail are a bright spot in this week. Leah Duncan’s Meadow is so beautiful and has me wishing I had ordered the whole collection!

And Lotta Jansdotter’s Mormor line contains some great colors – purple! always lacking in my stash – and really lovely patterns. Those florals on the white background are a favorite for sure.

Quilt pattern is Christina's Retro Flowers, which can be found here.

I ordered the fabrics shown above from Hawthorne Threads, though the Meadow & Mormor lines can be found at many great shops now, including those of many of my sponsors (in the sidebar!).

I remember those hard days, too. My mantra was “it’s a good thing you’re so cute”! And yours are soooo darn cute!

Your “old” WIP would rock in greens for St Pat’s Day…maybe one in bright green :-)! I don’t have much fun doing curves but always love the look…wish I had known you all when my kids were young. You are an inspiration :-)

I imagine Max thinks it was a great week, because at that age any attention is great. Sometimes you just have to let them have your attention and block out the rest of the world. I worked outside the home when mine were little, but had a series of very good sitters. I wish I could have had the bad weeks and more so the good weeks. You will have time to sew soon.
You are a fantastic mom. They are wonderful kids and their smiles show they are cared about. Sometimes they just want more than you have to give. Good luck – hope there is sewing time net week.

UNIQUE quilting squares. . . never saw this pattern before, “Christina’s Retro Flowers.” So, I’m anxious to see your finished quilt. I looked at the May 17, 2010 posting of the beginning of this design. Your 2 new piles of prints, Meadow and Mormor lines, are FAB to add flower petal squares. Yes, all kids are challenging and need your time and attention! Find more hours and hours until it’s complete, then BRAVO! Looking forward to the posting. Sarah Helene in Minneapolis

I love that quilt pattern. I’m sorry you had a tough week! Here’s to a much easier one next week! :)

I recently finished a retro flowers quilt top and I had trouble getting perfect arcs on my curves, too. I tried pinning and not pinning, and the curves turned out the same for me.

I can’t wait to see how you quilt it. I’m stuck and can’t decide what quilting to do on mine. Maybe you can give me some inspiration!
