simple patchwork

I took Hazel for a walk one cool morning recently and grabbed this patchwork quilt I finished up for her just after she was born. During our walk I spent some time admiring the quilt and decided it would be fun to make up a few more. I love the pairing of Liberty of London prints with some solids and a few other special fabrics.

I dug through my Liberty stash (which has lots more variety since I joined the Westwood Acres Liberty club), and started making piles of fun color combos. I didn’t have any planned color groupings in mind, so it was kind of fun to see what came about. I love the soft neutrals in this one, paired with Liberty florals and several Cloud 9 cirrus solids in aquas and corals.

It’s so nice to see some of these favorite fabrics in a quilt finally! It’s also nice to have a project that doesn’t require too much thought. I sewed this one together after spending a number of days just staring at the design wall. I wasn’t having much luck coming up with anything I wanted/could sew, so I decided to stop overthinking things and just work on some fun patchwork. While it didn’t solve my other design issues, it did make me smile to have sewn something pretty. As a bonus, I have a few other color combos set aside for the next time I need a bit of simple sewing!
