Honey Be Good giveaway

Happy Friday, and a happy 4th to all of you in the US! The blog has been a bit quiet recently – mostly due to the summer and, um, those kids… they don’t seem to like me spending my time sewing (0r blogging about it!). Weird. We also unexpectedly decided to sell our home, which of course is stressful, and not so much fun. Sewing is taking a bit of a back seat, consequently.

But today? Today we have a fun giveaway from one of my sponsors, Honey Be Good. Karen sells all the best organic fabrics and supplies. New in the shop? This great organic line by Carolyn Gavin for Windham Fabrics, Petite Fleur.

I had a chance to make up a couple tops a few months back, and it’s really lovely. I made Hazel a cute little baby popover

and a coordinating adult popover for myself (the faces I make while wearing my popover are not as cute, so luckily you’re spared!).

I wear this one quite a bit – I think this print works well for a top – from afar it’s kind of just a navy/white graphic print, which I like. I’ve tried to move from quilting cotton for clothing for myself, but this organic cotton is quite nice, especially as a button down/popover (the Grainline Archer pattern would be a great one if you were looking for a similar button down look).

Today Karen is giving away a fat quarter bundle of the Petite Fleur line plus the included alphabet panel. This giveaway is open to US customers. Please leave a comment here (one per person, please!). If you want to let met know your usual 4th of July traditions, that’d be fun, or you could let me know what you imagine making from these fun organic fabrics.

The giveaway is open through Sunday night. I’ll select a winner on Sunday evening and will edit this post to announce the winner. Can’t wait? Karen is offering $10 off all orders of $50 or more from Thursday July 3 – Sunday July 6 with coupon code: FIREWORKS

Updated: I selected a backup winner, and that’s #12, Lauren! Congrats! (I’ve sent you an email!)

I LOVE the Navy, but wonder if I should make two and try the red version too? hmmmmm So today, we celebrated by having a BBQ on the beach. It was very chilly there and we had to bundle up with jackets. We cooked cheeseburgers, potato salad, beans, corn on the cob, and of course, APPLE PIE for desert!! Then, after our tummy’s were full, we loaded up in the car and drove to watch the firework display in a nearby town. It was wonderful! Linda says:

Hazel is adorable! My town does the 4th of July in a big way starting with a fishing derby, a big parade, and ending with a concert and major fireworks at the high school football stadium. I play clarinet in the community band – we provide a pre-parade concert for the people near the end of the parade route. Typical 4th of July music featuring a lot of Sousa marches, etc. It is a fun concert to play. Later in the day I head to the zoo to do a volunteer docent shift. Yesterday I helped our zoo visitors feed the giraffes. I love the the amazing looks on people’s faces as that long purple giraffe tongue reaches out to grasp the lettuce leaf. Sucha great volunteer gig. Love it! Evening – gather with neighbors in a backyard to watch the fireworks while enjoying some food and adult beverages. It is a great holiday. It is good we celebrate our country

We usually do our own fireworks (the husband is a pyro), but this year, we went to the nation’s worst 4th of July parade. Seriously. Lame city. Not a marching band or rodeo princess in sight. And then we watched the city’s fireworks, which were much better than the parade, thank goodness.

4th of July is my husband’s favorite holiday! We enjoy our neighborhood parade, fireworks and good friends stopping by. The day is filled with NO responsibility! A day of doing nothing is really something…

The last few years we’ve “met in the middle” (Iowa) with my brother and his family. It’s been great having my whole family together for the week! As for what I’d make: an outfit for my daughter’s AG doll. She’s been begging me.. 🙂

Love the fabrics! I’d love to use them in the open-wide zippered pouch.

Don’t really have tradition for the 4th. This year I spent it with my daughter (7) at Dance Nationals. Her duo got Gold and placed 3rd overall(out of 5 duo/trios in her age group) and her team got High Gold and placed 2nd overall (out of 11 teams in her age group)! Needless to say, we are very excited!

This fabric line so exemplifies my taste! Old world meets modern. Thanks for sharing!

We usually go to my mom’s house for swimming, hamburgers, and sparklers, then catch the fireworks on the drive home. 🙂 I would love to make some cute dresses for my little girl out of these cute fabrics! Thanks for the opportunity! 🙂

Our traditional 4th celebration includes sitting through our local parade (estimated 3 hours long and we dub it as the world’s longest commercial) but we got rained out before starting this year, then home for grilling and evening is spent on the capital grounds listening to the symphony play, political speeches, local musical talent and ending with fireworks while listening to more symphony. It can’t get better than this in ND—except maybe winning this great fabric bundle. kthurn@bektel.com

I would definitely have to make a child’s quilt with this fabric bundle. Although those little tops are adorable, just don’t have any really little’s right now. Thanks for a chance to win. We are low key for the 4th, just hang out here at home or at our lake place, cook out and watch the neighbor kids fireworks.

I love this line and hope to make a bumper with that alphabet fabric!

I think at least a few of the prints would make great children’s backpacks, I have a pattern I’ve been wanting to try out. That black and white shirt is fantastic, if I was more confident in my garment skills I’d want to make something similar!
