liberty of london

I have a tiny little collection of Liberty of London fabric scraps. I’ve been collecting them for a while, figuring at some point I might have enough for a quilt. On occasion I tell Morgan that we should go to London, just so I can visit the store (he doesn’t agree).

So of course it makes me excited that it’s soon to be available at Target. I have high hopes for the collection – hoping that there will be some pieces in the line that can be re-purposed for quilting…

So, March 14th. I’ll see you at Target!

(anyone else planning on going?)

While I think Morgan should take you to London, and Bob should take me, too; at least we can shop at Target, in the mean time. This is really exciting. Looks as if there’ll be home goods, too.

YES! I am! It is on my calendar, and I plan to alot time to go to a couple BIG Targets just to make sure I am seeing everything there is to see! I wish there was a way of knowing which Targets would carry the whole line!

Is the Liberty fabric you have pretty thin? I have several pieces that my mom gave me (that she never ended up making into anything) and it’s not quilting weight. However, I’ve heard that they are going to be coming out with a quilting fabric line soon.

When I told my husband about the Liberty collection coming to Target and he said “that’s nice; what’s Liberty of London again?”. (!) My reply: “Do you remember the fabric store I dragged you to when we were in London?” That worked. He remembered. I highly recommend this approach. 🙂

I plan on doing the same thing (and also have a stash of little squares). Have you ever been to the store? It is amazing!!! For now, planning on stocking up on clothing/etc. at Target to repurpose. 🙂 Look forward to seeing what you make!

I love Liberty so much! Unfortunately though, I’m Canadian and we don’t have Target, but I did enlist a couple of American friends to go and check it out for me with explicit directions to pick up anything for me that they’d think I like that isn’t too expensive.

I am seriously there! I have been counting down the days ever since I saw the commercial during the olympics. The commercial didn’t actually have the launch date, and I was too excited so I had to get up out of bed and check my computer to find out when it would be available. Yes, I love fabric and I love Liberty! I agree that a trip to London would be awesome.

Oh, I’m so there. After years of no Targets in Alaska, I have one 5 minutes from my house now. I plan to be there at opening on Sunday. And I’ll go there tomorrow, just in case there are things out early like Erin found!

No Target in Vermont, bleah, but hope to get some stuff online. Your current collection looks gorgeous.

A friend brought me six Liberty of London fat quarters. I also hope that the Target fabric can be repurposed. I see great projects ahead…

I have high hopes about the Target products…with a little trepidation mixed in that the fabric quality won’t be great. Target linens, etc. can go either way. I’m really excited to see it all in person!

  17. 17

Wow- I had no idea Target was going to be carrying Liberty of London. Yea!

Libertys is fabulous. I live 1.5 hours from London but only went to Libertys for the first time last month. It is the most fabulous department store and the haberdashery is wonderful, I spent 2 hours there. Unfortunately the fabrics are a little on the pricey side 🙁

I have been to Liberty of London and it is incredibly fabulous, beyond words. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time, everyone is incredibly polite, in an old world Miss Marple sort of way. My friend who does not sew was completely charmed as well. The fabric section is also incredible, they have fcottons patterns that do not make it to the states (although B&J Fabrics in Manhattan has an extensive collection of Liberty, probably 50+ different patterns) and beautiful charmeuse silks that I’ve never seen over here. I also came across a discounted box of remnants. They also have a nice sewing/crafting section that could be a great shop on it’s own with tapestry kits, Rowan fabrics, etc.

I have my own little growing collection of Liberty! It won’t be made into a quilt for probably years for now but I love to bring it out and pet it from time to time!

the liberty store is soooo wonderful. they have a whole haberdashery (don’t you love that word!) section with all kinds of goodies. we were there this past october and i drug my husband in and we bought him a shirt and tie while i picked up 3 meters of lawn fabric- i just pretended we were paying in dollars to make it less painful. one of them is that aqua floral you have in the above photo. it’s my fave! if you make a quilt, i bet it would be so amazing.
oh- and you’ve made me cut out about 100 1 inch paper hexagons… can’t wait to start on that.

I was at Target today, and they are starting to put some things out! Beautiful fabric covered boxes and trays, I want some!

At this point, we just need to redirect a portion of Bud’s commission checks to a direct deposit account at Target.

    I’ll be there.

Go to London, just for the store…and so much more. I was there this fall to visit my daughter who is works there for a few years. The store is so beautiful and the fabric is to die for.

Let me know what the quality of the Target range is like, will be interested to hear how different it is.

I love using Liberty fabrics in my quilts, even if it is only a snippet you can pick it a mile out. My local patchwork shop has the largest range of Liberty in Australia…so as you can imagine, am quite spoilt for choice. I’ll send some over to you next Month when your blocks are due back for the bee.

Duh….YES I will be there. I am in LOVE with the bicycle. IS that crazy for a 57 year old lady who became a Grandmother this week???? I have always loved Liberty and I am keeping fingers crossed that the collection meets my expectations. I am a bit cynical though….but hopeful.

    Ellen says:

Sounds like a good road trip for us VTers (are we the only state without a Target?). Do all Targets sell fabric? And tell Morgan that London is worth any reason for a visit. Museums, castles, parks, people watching, pubs, shopping, and more pubs- its a fantastic city!

  33. 33
    whatupduck says:

I don’t think Target sells the fabric, do they? Love the patterns!

Absolutely GORGEOUS fabric!! I would love to go to London and i’m sure you would too but i guess that Morgan might not go for that….I’m sure your very excited. Can’t wait to see what you end up doing.

YES! I’m planning to stake out the place and be first through the door! I can’t wait! I actually declined a weekend trip just so I could see the collection on its first day (loser alert).

Your Liberty stash is lovely–I can’t wait to see what you make from it!

  39. 39
    Meg says:

Our Target already has some, so you might want to check it out now! Although the pillows are some weird plastic-y material, and the linens weren’t as nice as I hoped. They are super pretty though!

    kate says:

I thought the same thing when I saw the Target commercial last night — hoping that most of it would be cottons so I could cut it up. Sounds like it’s already in-store in some places?

    Faith says:

Did you see there is a Liberty of London duvet on clearance at Pottery Barn Kids? I read some people online got theirs at the stores for $29.99, all that fabric! Of course it’s still more online and my store is out. But thought I’d pass along the tip!

I love London! I am planning on geting on the target site at 12:00 a.m.on sat. night just in case I give in and get that bike! You know it will sell out soon! I looove your collection. I made a british flag pillow out of all liberty last year as a gift for my husband in honor of his late mother’s birthday. She was english and now we think of her everytime we look at it.

    Holly says:

Okay, I have to admit that I wasn’t too swayed when I first saw your post. I’d never heard of it before (Gasp!) and it just looked like plain ol’ floral to me.
THEN I happened upon a Target who had already put out their product on Wednesday… I LOVE IT!!! So many different designs all over the store, so many different textures…. I’m totally buying a few things soon for wearing and then stalking the clearance for any and all pieces later on for a cool quilt!
I hit 2 more Targets that day and only saw the Liberty of London things in one so far. Don’t know if they broke the rules or what… But it’s everywhere! Swimsuits for women and girls, bedding, dresses, shirts…. Love it!

    Elizabeth says:

Hee! We have tickets to the Blazer game Sunday the 14th and I’ve already advised my husband that we’re stopping at Target on the way there. 🙂

  46. 46

it’s not quilting weight. However, I’ve heard that they are going to be coming out with a quilting fabric line soon.

    Michele C says:

I visited my Target today and saw quilt/comforter sets – suitable for cutting up, I think, for about $60.00. I picked up a couple little frames and a patterned storage box. There were sets of stationery and lamp shades. I’m hoping for some kitchen/dining linens.

  48. 48
    Holly says:

bookmarking demon, I thought it would be cool to take all the different weights and fabric contents and put them together somehow. Might not be a quilt that stands the test of time for our great grandkids to use, but it sure would be cool to have a variance in texture in addition to pattern!
Can’t wait to go back tomorrow and look some more!

  49. 49
    Kathy says:

want linens too…..The bicycle and garden gloves are a kick….look at or go to….I got two dresses and free shipping. Is this another munki munki in the making.
