Back when I was working on those two quilts for Lotta Jansdotter’s new lines, I was trying to come up with an idea for her fun black and white collection, Sylvia. I briefly considered making up another of my Converging Corners quilts, and even made up several blocks, but then realized that I wouldn’t actually have enough time to complete all the blocks.
Not wanting them to go to waste though, I grabbed four of the blocks I had made and turned them into this fun mini quilt/wall hanging.
The open space in each block gave me an opportunity to play around with the quilting a bit (and since it’s a mini, it was actually doable!). I went with this fun design in the open spaces, along with a diamond shape through the printed portion.
(love how it looks on the black on the backing!)
I don’t use a lot of black and white prints typically, but I decided to go all black and white with this one, finishing the backing with my favorite bird print from Violet Craft’s Waterfront Park line. I didn’t have enough of either color for a full backing, but no matter, I think the combo is kind of fun! I considered adding a pop of color in the binding, but couldn’t decide on one, so opted for the dark gray instead.
I’ve added a hanging pocket in each corner, so this is all ready to decorate a wall! Do you have a wall needing some art? This mini is listed in the shop in case you do!
A tutorial for my Converging Corners blocks can be found here.
I dont know how to find an answer to my questions. Help
I really like the black and white and the quilting is great. This reminded me that I made a quilt using your tutorial and had never added it to your Flickr group. I made a lot of mistakes when I did it but still liked the results. It’s a kid quilt and I don’t think the kiddies will find fault. 😀
I love your blog and really enjoy seeing all the fun things you do.
I think it’s stunning. I love it!
Love this!
This is so pretty. I’ve always wanted to make a Converging Corners quilt.
Just stunning, front and back!
Question – Do you ever take requests to make a quilt?
Love everything about it! You are so creative and inspiring! Smiles~Beth
It’s lovely, so very striking.
love the effect you have got there with the large plain area and the quilting done on it, perfect
Beautiful! Quilt and Kids!
I especially like the back–using reverse values of the same print make it striking!
