Glimma cross quilt

I had the opportunity to work with Lotta Jansdotter’s upcoming new line, Glimma, and boy, is it beautiful! This will be Lotta’s third line with Windham Fabrics, and it will be available next year.

When I received the fabrics, I couldn’t decide what direction to take, and ultimately I started something that wasn’t quite so easy to put together. In need of some instant gratification, and wanting to get a feel for how the fabrics all looked together, I simultaneously started working on these wonky cross blocks.

Lotta’s collection includes four coordinating solids, and I also added in a couple more to the mix – a few pinks, a darker teal, and a little olive green. Then I just had fun mixing and matching the prints and solids and making up these great cross blocks. As with a previous quilt, when the blocks weren’t quite the right size, I added in a strip or two of another fabric, and I love the way it looks.

The backing is mostly a stone colored solid, with a strip of the prints running along one side.

This is the quilt that received the stem quilting treatment (seen before washing in these photos).

And what would a blog post be these days without a little sneak appearance by Max. He really can’t resist a quilt!

A big thanks to the great people at Windham Fabrics for giving me an opportunity to work with Lotta’s lovely fabrics!
