stripes, stripes, and more stripes!

Look at this – fabric that’s not orange or brown!

I wanted to see the new Amy Butler Daisy Chain line in person, so I bought several half yards a few weeks ago. They’re really quite bold, and I wasn’t sure what I’d use them for. They’ve been sitting in a stack on the floor of my office, and every once in a while I pulled them out and tried to pair them – thinking of possibly some more market bags, or maybe pillows. I just wasn’t feeling it though.

Then the other day I decided to just use them all together for a strip quilt. For some reason, I didn’t think they went that well together when sitting in a stack, but cut up into strips and sewn together – nice! I added some of the Lime Full Moon Polka Dots and some old Urban Chicks avocado houndstooth fabric I had.

The color scheme is quite a departure from my last few quilts, but surprisingly, I’m really liking it. I have the strips all sewn together, and now I’m thinking about how I’ll make it wider. I guess that’s always a limitation to this type of strip quilt!
