A Fall-Colored Zig Zag Quilt

I’m almost afraid to say this, but I started another quilt.

I realize that I should actually finish one of the many I’ve already started, but I just couldn’t help myself. It was this tutorial posted on a quilt is nice which caused me to start this one. I’ve always admired Nettie’s quilts, especially her zig zag baby quilts, but never thought it would be one I’d try, since it looked like it required a lot of cutting and piecing. I loved the method she described in the tutorial though, and figured I’d give it a try.

I had some Heather Ross prints in my stash, so I opted to follow her lead and make a baby quilt. I also added some small floral yellow and brown prints, giving it a fall look.

This is a portion of it laid out on the floor so I could decide on the order of patterns.

And here’s the finished quilt top

Now this is what you may be surprised by… I went a step further and actually completed the back of the quilt as well! I used some of the fabrics I had left over, along with all the remaining squares I hadn’t used.

And quess what? I think I’m actually going to take the plunge and quilt it!
