knit pj pants

It’s been a slow week around here. I had hoped Max would be over his cold, but no such luck. It feels like my entire week was spent blowing his nose, asking if I could blow his nose, or running after him attempting a sneak attack from the back. Hopefully this was the worst of it.

Anyway. Last weekend I purchased Pattern Anthology’s latest offering, Just Add Jeans, which is a fun collection of 4 women’s knit shirts (though now only offered as individual patterns). While I don’t sew with knits too often, I keep thinking it would be nice to do so more often. I didn’t get anything sewn for myself, but it did have me pulling out my small stash of knits for pj pants for the kids – a nice easy start! These are really simple legging style pajama bottoms – I made up a pattern for each based on knit pants they already had.

Max got a pair out of one of my favorite Monaluna designs (available both as organic quilting cotton and as an organic knit). Max loves anything alphabet related, so once he realized that those were letters on there, they quickly became his favorite pair! And a second out of this fun Birch Fabric organic Elk Grove knit. Hazel’s pink pair are made from an older Nani Iro knit I snagged from Nido a while back, and while I wasn’t originally intending to make matching pjs for the kids, when I found I had just enough fabric left over, I really couldn’t resist!

A winner!

Thanks to everyone who entered the Llama Fabrics giveaway! I enjoyed hearing what you were working on, and how you were spending your weekend. Our weekend? Not quite as much fun – Max was sick and then kindly passed it on to me, so I had ample time to read through all your fun comments while spending time in bed (I had a sewing table filled with projects, but no such luck).

But how’s about we talk about the winner instead?

And thanks again to Chio for a great giveaway!

Llama Fabrics giveaway!

Happy Friday! It’s been a while since we’ve had a giveaway, so hopefully you’ll be up for one today! Chio at Llama Fabrics always offers the best giveaway prizes, and today is no exception. She’s just received Tula Pink’s latest line, Fox Field, and she’s offering up a fat quarter bundle of all 27 prints from the line.

You may remember me mentioning Llama Fabrics in the past, and I hope that you’ve had a chance to take a look at Chio’s shop. She’s really the sweetest, most generous person and I’ve been so very pleased with the orders I’ve placed with her. Just recently I found I needed one of Anna Maria’s Dowry prints for a quilt backing and I was in a bit of a time crunch. I was so pleased to find that Chio offered that print, because I knew that it would ship out quickly, and indeed, I had a response from Chio about my custom order within an hour of emailing her. My fabric shipped out immediately and I was able to get that quilt finished up in time (here’s a photo of that backing while I was handsewing the binding).

So if you find yourself in need of some fabric – be it a fat quarter bundle, yardage, or perhaps a custom order, I hope you’ll pop on over to Llama Fabrics! You’ll find Chio offers great prices, a great selection and super fast shipping.

Would you like to win this bundle? Just leave a comment here – feel free to tell me what you’re currently working on, what your plans for the weekend are, what your favorite new fabric line is, or what you look for in an online fabric shop (or anything interesting, really!). Those of you outside the US will be pleased to know that Chio is willing to ship internationally, so this giveaway is open to all! I will close the comments Sunday evening and will select and announce the winner at that time. Thanks for playing, and thanks in advance for taking a peek at Chio’s shop. And of course, a big thanks to Chio for offering up such a great prize!

Update: Comments are now closed. I’ll select and announce a winner soon!
