candy stripe

I nearly forgot about this one! I made this one early in the summer, and even took photos (look, leaves!), but apparently failed to get it on the blog. I pulled this fabric selection back in May while looking for some inspiration. I always enjoy sewing half square triangle blocks, so decided to keep it simple with some hsts for this bunch of fabrics.

I can’t really remember how the pink stripes came about – perhaps just that I realized I had a lot of a pink solid? Anyway, I thought it would be fun to play around with sewing up pink and white strips and then using that fabric as half of the hsts. I like how the stripes line up in places (and definitely don’t in other!). Looking at it now, I feel like maybe I’d like it better with the striped background and maybe other solids rather than all these prints? Maybe it’ll be something I explore later on…

Overall the rose white stripes give such a warm and vintage feel. It comes across as a very cozy piece. =)

I love that you “made” your pink and white stripe — good for you! And while I can see how you might want to explore the design with more solids and less prints, I think it looks right sharp just as it is! Not much better than a good HST quilt!!! Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.

I like the stripes. This quilt comes across (to me) as a fun, easy going quilt. The kind to make when you just want to relax and not be pressured to match things up, make sure you have the “right” material and that all seams come together. It’s a great scrappy quilt and a happy quilt! What a great and easy way to use scraps and just create. At my age, I want fun and easy!!

I love this quilt. The candy stripe reminds me a long time ago and then the other fabrics are great unexpected contrasts. It’s perfect.
