navy and yellow

I spent a little time picking out fabrics for a new quilt. I always love that part. I haven’t had a chance to start too many new quilts so far this summer, so it was fun to dream about something new. This color combo isn’t one I’d normally be drawn to, but I really wanted to use some of those great new Cotton + Steel prints in navy and that yellowy-green I love so much, and when I went looking for more, I discovered that I might actually have enough of this color combo to make something.

It’s always hard to chop fabrics up when you’re not totally sure about what you’re making, especially when you’re chopping up fat quarters of prints that haven’t been released yet!

I went for it though, and made up these simple 9 patch blocks. (I don’t think I’ve made a 9 patch block since way back here, in 2009!) I’m waiting on a few additional fabrics I ordered to round this out, then hopefully should be able to add in the yellow and get this one completed!
