When I first started quilting, I hardly ever used solids – I was definitely all about the prints. Then I realized how much solids could add to a quilt design… and now I have quite a large collection of solids! I had never made a quilt out of just solids though, so it was a nice change to work on the Kites in the Clouds quilt that I showed yesterday. I’m thinking there will be more all-solids quilts in my future!
How about you? Do you use a lot of solids? Whether or not you do, I have a little giveaway for you from the lovely Jackie over at Canton Village Quilt Works. This fat quarter stack will either start you on your way to adding solids to your stash, or it will add to your existing solid stash!
I love Jackie’s shop for the great selection of solids – she carries lots of Kona solids (at a nice price, too!) which you can buy by the yard (with a minimum 1/4 yard cut – nice if you want just a bit to start…). She also has a nice selection of precuts, including charm packs, jelly rolls and fat quarter bundles. I’m also fond of the Robert Kaufman Essex cotton/linen blend fabrics she carries – I love all those great colors! [Of course, Jackie also carries lots of other designer fabrics, but since we're talking solids, I'm going to stick to those for today!]
Anyway, would you like a chance to win this summery bundle of solids? Just leave a comment here (just one per person, please!). If you’d like, you could let me know your thoughts on solids – do you like adding them to your projects? And if so, do you have a favorite color? Mine changes all the time, but currently I think I’d have to say Kona Raisin. I do love it as a binding (most recently used here on my picnic quilt!)
Update – We have a winner! Congrats to #602, Jill!!

kites in the clouds
10 weeks

Prints are what catch my eye, but I am definitely trying to build up my solids stash lately.
I love adding solids to projects. My two most used colors are just barely off white and just about any shade of deep deep pink.
I love solids! I just used a bunch in my last quilt. Actually, I used 5 solids and only one print. No favorite color here, I love all color.
I always try to incorporate a few complementary solids into the patchwork quilts that I make – it seems to help the prints really shine!
I am loving solids lately. my favorite changes all of the time
I would like to use solids to accent my prints, but I’m not good at choosing them unless I find an exact match in the print; I wish I could say “oh this will look great with the rest of the colors!”
I am like you as I lean toward prints but am challenging myself to improve my quilting and know solids would showcase that!. Thanks for the opp to win
m-m-m-m-m Beautiful colors. This grouping would perk-up my stash. Using solids depend on the project I’m working on.
I love solid fabric … especially white and Blue … and I think this wonderful summer colors are beautiful ^__^
Thank you for the chance ^__*
Count me in!
I’ve been working toward more solids gradually over the past few years…right now I really like the greys but they are all yummy!
I LOVE Kona Solids and get mine from jackie…she has great customer service and wonderful prices… I just finished a totally solid kona quilt for the StLouis Modern Quilt Guild challenge…
I love solids, especially when they are paired with coordinating prints. I love your Kites in the Clouds quilt, so maybe I should give an all solid quilt a shot!
I don’t have a lot of solids currently, but I’d love to win this giveaway and start incorporating them into my projects. Great colors!
I love Kona solids and the creativity that quilting with strictly solids demands! My favorite recent project was with Kona Mulberry, but I am a sucker for their Charcoal too.
I am trying to incorporate more solids – I too find it hard to step away from prints.
I’m just finishing up my first quilt experiment with mostly solids, and I LOVE the clean look of them. I’m definitely hooked, and I’m going to need to build my stash!
I, too, always tend to buy prints. I’ve just recently bought a solid to make something for my daughter… I have yet to cut it… I’m not sure if it’s b/c it’s a solid or what!
wow, i love those new colors. would be a great addition to my stash for a quilt this summer maybe!!
I love solids, but I think I’ve only been using them extensively for a year or so. I have two solids quilts planned. These would be a great help. I don’t know if I have a favorite, and I sure couldn’t tell you its name anyway. The two I use the most are an aqua and a green that is just off of kelly green — like a bright avocado. I’m no help, I know. Thanks for a lovely giveaway!
I like that color combination! I am finding solids can be helpful to finish out a stack of printed fabrics, which is mostly what I use them for.
I just picked up some brightly colored solids to incorporate into a quilt for a dear little guy who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. It was the only way I could think to make robots, sharks, rockets and dinosaurs all coming together in the same quilt.
I fell in love with the kites in the clouds yesterday and it’s got me digging through my stack for solids. What a great give away!
I love Kona solids…..I love the bright ones you have chosen….I love bright. Something about all that fun color gets me all happy inside….thanks for the giveaway and thanks Jackie!
I love Kona Solids…there is such a spectrum of colors and the quality is amazing! I have never done a quilt like yours with mostly solids, but I enjoy throwing them into the mix. This bundle is lovely and it’s so nice of Jackie to offer it up for this giveaway! Thanks!
I have seen so many projects and QAL’s that use the solids more, so I have slowly started building my stash. I’m like you when it comes to a favorite color too. It all depends on what it is I’m working on. The colors in the giveway are all gorgeous. Take care!
I use them mostly for backing, but that bundle is so beautiful it deserves to be featured front and center!
Have not done much with solids but am eager to do so. This selection is scrumptious. Love the names of the colors too…….
Thanks!
I must admit don’t have a very good solid stash…but it is slowly growing. My EMQG is doing a solids challenge right now, so that has put me in the frame of mind of solids and seeing the beauty of working with just solids. Fun times!!
Lately I have found an immense love for solids, I just can’t get enough. Right now I love cerise and several of the green shades like cactus. Thanks!
LOVELOVELOVE Kona solids. Favorite color – today it’s Lupine, but that can change very easily! Sooooo many yummy colors to work with.
Oh, solids. I always, always LOVE quilts that use them or are all solids, but then I always get distracted by the flashy prints. Either that or I just never accumulate a nice enough blend of colors to inspire me. Adding mo to my stash would definitely help that!
those would go great with some Amy Butler LOVE fabric that I have been holding on to!
I’ve been using solids a lot more lately! I love having them in my stash, and they really do round out a quilt. I just bound a small quilt in raisin, too! I love it!
I have a drawer just of solids. My color drawer.
I haven’t moved on from prints yet but your quilt from yesterday actually did make me wonder if a transition is close
I definately will try some in the future.
oh, I do like solids ~ I’ve done quite a few things in solid fabric and really enjoy putting them
together. Our local quilt guild had a solid challenge and I did an applique and you’d never even
know it was solid fabric.
Love your quilt ~ the dark gray with the bright centers is eye popping!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I only sew once in a while, but I don’t have any solids in my stash – these would be a great start!
I love solids! I would do everything in solids and use only prints as the complementary fabrics if I could. I have no favorite color to work with…since it really depends on the project.
I love using solids to mix in with a fabric line and I adore Kona cottons. My favorite color changes all the time, but I do find myself using the turquoise blues a lot of the time, and some limey greens, too. =)
I don’t have any solids, aside from white.
Those are such pretty colors though, fingers crossed!
I don’t use them often enough! My favorite quilts to look at are always ones with plenty of solids.
Have not do much with solid,so my stash of them is poor.this bundle is awesome.Thanks for the chance.!!
Kona solids are my favorite because I can find them easily. I haven’t made an all solids quilt but I do like to incorporate solids in my quilts.
Love solids! We were in my sons room last night, which is pretty colorful, and he said Mom, I’m missing orange and purple in here, so this would be perfect to make a wall handing with!!!
I’m like you, I’ve only recently discovered the beauty of solids. I have yet to make an all-solid quilt. This little bundle would be a perfect springboard to trying out an all-solid quilt. Beautiful colors! Thanks.
That bundle is bright and lovely! I’ve just recently started utilizing solids a lot more and I’m loving it! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity
I like Kona eggplant, what a great color!
I have a nice stash of solids now, and I love going “shopping” in there.
You know, when I was working with an all solid quilt lately, I thot that Raisin looked just wonderful with almost everything else, so I vote with you there.
Thx for the chance to win.
I’d really like to use more solids, and this would make a great start!
I’ve tried lately to have some solids in the majority of quilts that I make – I think they help to balance out the busier fabrics and can often feature quilting details more. thanks for the giveaway!
That is a beautiful bundle!!
I love using colorful solids alongside prints, but I definitely use Kona cotton in Snow the most. It’s the perfect white for quilting!
I would love to win these and if I did, I would give them away as a prize at our Guild Crayon Challenge reveal in July
Next on my list is all solids…time to take a break from prints. This bundle says summer, that’s for sure!
I love solids!! The dark greys are my favorite!
I love solids and I want to make an all solid quilt. Thanks for the chance to win these. No favorite color but definitely partial to bright colors.
I, like you rarely bought solids. Usually only when i found one in the rem bin at Joanns. But in the last year I’ve been reading some of you young gals blogs and you all have turned my head with several of your lovely designs. I’ve bought a few yards, and fat quarters at my local quilt shop, Material Girls in LaPlata MD. I made my first quilt using solids last month for my new great nephew. I used two (baseball themed) prints, one plaid and two solids. It has a very clean feel to it. Thanks to all of you young girls teaching this old dog a new(everything old is new again) trick.
)
I’d love to be able to add to the very meager solids that I own. Thanks to you and Jackie for offering to help
I have been slowly adding solids to my stash. I find the one I am using most right now is Kona Bone. (plain, I know
These colors are beautiful….thanks for the chance!
I love solids and use then quite a bit. Kona pomegranate is a current favorite. LOVE THAT KITE QUILT!!!
I would love to add some solids to my stash of fabric!
Funny, I was just going through my solids. Most of them were from the 80′s/90′s. Nothing like the colors available today. Guess I’ll have to visit Jackie (again)! I do like the Ash, but the colors above are like a box of jellie bellies. Mmmm good.
I definitely love me some solids. And what a lovely bundle this is! I’d give it a wonderful home!!
I love solids. I’ve never used them for a full quilt before. It’s on my “to do” list.
I love solids…especially bright ones! Thanks to you and Jackie for the chance!
I just bought some jewel tone solids, but have never really used them in my quilts before. This bundle would help me grow my collection!
I would love to try more solids in a quilt – I think I’ve really only used solid white in a quilt top… Those colors are fabulous! Thanks so much!
Thanks for the chance to win – I mainly use white and light pool blue as my solids but I need to branch out! I’m thinking of a sherbert colored quilt in my future with lots of oranges and pinks. I’m loving solids lately!
I would love more solids. Right now I’m off to buy some of the Kona charcoal grey to bind my latest quilt with. I love how it feels like a frame to a lovely picture.
I have just started to collect quite a few solids and Kona are my favorites…so winning would be a great addition to my collection.
I pretty much only use solids for sashing and sometimes backing. No real reason-it seems that is just the way it’s worked out
thanks for the chance! ~ Amy
I’ve totally changed my mind when it comes to using solid fabrics in a project. They add so much color and life to a project.
I have become more fond of solids and find my quilts are more interesting when I use them. These Kona colors are just gorgeous. Thanks for a chance to win these.
These colors are beautiful! My go to color for Kona solids is black. I have been leaning a lot toward adding gray to a future project. It’s definitely time to add some color to my life! Thanks for the giveaway! Canton Village is a great online place to shop.
I have made one quilt that was all solids and I loved it, it was a zig zag quilt and while I played with the idea of adding some prints, I’m glad I didn’t. I have been using Kona Espresso in a lot of things and I am loving it. I still like prints better, but it’s a nice change
I could use some solids in my stash. These are wonderful!
I’m starting to use solids more and more. In fact, I just bought some Kona Banana Cream. I was impressed with the subtle variations in shade that are available in Kona. Thanks for the giveaway.
I haven’t really worked with solids, not since my first quilt and my postage stamp quilt-a-long hosted by p.s. i quilt.
I would love to add more solids! I hope I win and get the chance to try them out.
OOO They are so lovely… I adore Kona solids. I always have a bolt of black, natural, and snow in my stash (which reminds me, I need black)
Thank you so much for hosting this!
I heart solids, I think they give perfection to a fabric collection. These colours are wonderful! I like also acid green…
i never really thought of using solids in quilting until recently. i have found all sorts of inspiration on the internet from other quilters using solids and i am converted. i would love this to kick-start my solids use.
I, like you, have mostly worked with prints, but in the last year or so I’ve been drawn to more solids. Favorite colors will depend on the quilt. Thanks for the fun giveaway. These colors would make a great addition to the stash
i love solids! esp when they’re mixed in well with prints.
I picked up some Kona Plum which I love and I often use white. I also recently used Kona Maize which is a soft breezy pale yellow. I love these bright vivid colors though!
I made an all solids wonky log cabin quilt which I love. You can check it out here: http://ellisonlane.blogspot.com/2011/04/modern-solids-quilt.html
Lately I’ve been really drawn to Kona Ash although there are so many amazing colors it is hard to choose. Thanks for the great giveaway opportunity!
Yes. loves solid color.. Solid color and a bit of ugly or flower print can be a good combination
Thanks for the chance.. Hopes I am the lucky one..
Cheers
I love solids but will admit that I get frustrated choosing colors.
I have done one Amish inspired quilt using all solids on black background that I love. But I tend to prints, with solids only as accent, especially since many of my quilts are give aways for new parents and babies. I like the strong, modern feel of your latest quilt in all solids. That gray is wonderful.
ohh love those colors! i used to never use solids because prints are so fun but now i feel like i have a lot more freedom with solids and control over the color and overall look.
I love using solids as they make the design pop. Right now I’m drawn to colors that remind me of the Caribbean – blues & greens of the oceans and lucious tropical, citrusy colors.
I like to change it up! Never be the same twice! a few solids here a few prints there! And doesn’t it always happen that your favorite is whatever you are currently working on!!
I love solids. I feel like they anchor everything.
I’m digging on grays and purples these days!
Just love the solids! Thanks for the giveaway! Steph
I like combining an “inspiration print” – one that really catches my eye – and several solids that are either pulled directly from the colors of the print or ones that coordinate nicely. Just my style.
Like you, I hardly used any solids in my quilts and projects when I first started sewing a year and a half ago, but now I love using them! I’m currently working on a RK solids challenge quilt with my modern quilt guild, and it’s a fun all solid quilt: http://tingtongandthings.blogspot.com/2011/06/2-quilt-tops-in-one-weekend.html
Thanks for the giveaway!
Hi Ashley,
What a great giveaway!
I’m appreciating the solids more and more: they add PEACE to a quilt, a place where the eye can rest.
I love tangerine, I love Mango but these preferences also change over time.
Or do they change according to my mood?
Whatever: I love’m!
oooh, la, la – such lovely solids!! i have really enjoyed seeing more solids used in “modern quilting” and with prices rising, they are a good option – and the variety is amazing!
Thought it was a little early for Max to be on to solids already!!
I have been sewing for a while but only recently started quilting. As I’ve been looking at different quilts for inspiration I’ve noticed that the ones that I’m drawn to have a good amount of solids in them. I would love to add some solids to my collection. I don’t have a favorite at this point but I’ve been liking quilts with grey sashing.
I love using solids in my quilts – my current favorite is charcoal!
Oh, I love these colors! I’m building quite a stash of solids in my stash, and I have several ideas in mind for using them. It’s just finding the time to sit down and get started!
For some reason I always think of solids as more supporting fabrics but now that you’ve put the idea in my head I think I see an all-solids quilt in my future.
I love your all solids quilt!! It would be fun to try a quilt with more solids.
These new colors in the Kona line really inspire me. I like the boldness of working with solids, and I’m in love with the range of blue-greens in the Kona line. thanks for the chance!
I love solids. I do love prints too, but usually just at smaller embellishments. Ant that yellow blows my mind.
I really like solids. I haven’t used them a whole lot yet, but I can definitely see them in my future.
I love working with solids, it’s nice to have a bold flashy print but I love when people can work with just solids and make something just as eye-catching. Those colors are beautiful!
I usually have a solid or two in my projects. I’d love to win some for my small stash.
solids. something I definately need more of in my stash. I love solid quilts I’ve seen!
I love solids. I think they can bring a lot to a quilt. My favorite is plain white and gray!
I’m getting ready to use some solids in a quilting project centered around embroidered panels, but I’m a new quilter, so I can’t say I use them or have a stash. Thanks for the giveaway!
Such clear, crisp colours. Yet another sources of inspiration
i think my eye prefers solids in with prints so that it doesn’t look so…. busy, and the prints can shine more, without getting lost in each other.
I love solids and shot cottons. Pure and simple, Anna
I like to use solids to stretch a pack of a designer fabric — like my Heather Ross fat quarter pack that I wanted to make into a quilt but needed a bit more yardage. I don’t use solids so much on their own yet except for white. I do think I need more of a stash of solids for quick sewing projects.
~ excuse me while i wipe the drool from my face ~
I love using solids. My favorite to add in at the moment is either white or charcoal but I can see a lot of cerise in my future.
I have been looking at a lot of quilts in museums and I went to the red & white show in NYC and I have become SO inspired to start working with more solids and simpler color palettes instead of my usual Kaffe style quilts. Love these solids.
I do use solids. Especially white, but do like solid colors when I make a quilt with blended fat quarters.
I have never really used solids, but after seeing so many fab quilts on blogs, I want to try my hand at it but am wondering where to begin? I especially love the quilts with prints and then white all around it. Thanks for a great giveaway!
I like a pretty even combination of solids and prints. My first quilt was 80% solids, and the other 20% was almost solid prints. So I guess maybe I like them more than I think I do.
I absolutely LOVE solids! I love them in quilt tops, I love them for binding…LOVE! It’s hard to pick a favorite though. I’m currently using the Kona Purple People Eater and Pretty in Pink bundles for different projects – I’m really into some of the darker shades from each…and I can’t seem live without Kona Coal…
I am SUCH a solids girl. I don’t know what it is – all the possibilities? Right now, I’m hankering for an all yellow quilt. I just need to get this baby born so I can get started!
Solids haven’t played a huge part in my quilting in the past but I am being swayed by all the lovely stuff I keep seeing in blogs – yummy bundle.
Such pretty colors. As for a favorite color, it seems to change constantly depending on what fabric I just fell in love with. Thanks for the chance to win!
I would love to add more solids into the mix! I don’t buy enough of them but I love the way they look in a quilt.
Ever since meeting Gwen Marston and Jean Wells and having a chance to take a design class featuring solids, I am crazy for solids in all colors. I would have to say my favorites are brights and jewel tones..but I love them all!
I’m pretty new to quilting, so I definitely have a lot more prints than solids- would love to round out my stash!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I would love to use more solids in my quilts. Since I’m in Australia and buy online, I’m not sure of the shades. I need to get some colour cards but not sure which ranges have swatch cards. I’m quite particular about colours matching properly so buying sight unseen is like playing Russian roulette. I like Raisin and thinking about using it with Hunky Dory but need to do some more research.
dxx
the only solid i’ve ever used is white. or off-white. never thought much about it, but i’d like to give ‘adding solids to a quilt top’ a try!
thanks!
love your blog!
So pretty! I just finished my first quilt, which had no true solids. Then I put together a quilt top for charity that featured some solids and I fell in love. I don’t know the shade of green that I’m madly in love with but it’s a deep jewel tone. Thanks for the chance!
Love using a variety of solids!
I agree. Solids made the prints sing.
I have just become a big fan of solids..especially when I see such beautiful colors like these out there! I am a huge pattern fan but solids are now becoming my newest addiction! As for favorite color? I don’t have one..I just really love bright and beautiful colors!
I use solids a lot! My favorite changes too. I love all the greys but lately I’m hooked on Mustard
I LOVE solids. They really help to set off a good print.
I’m actually more of a solids person! I love seeing how well different and unexpected combinations of colors can go together.
I’m currently working on a “solids only” quilt using a slightly modified Plain Spoken pattern as my inspiration. I love earth tones so the quilt will be made from a Grounded Kona Cotton FQB by R. Kaufman.
Surprisingly, I love solids! But this is a fact I’m aware of recently. I thought prints were predominant in my stash, but after taking a look at it I realized that solids win by numbers. Above all, the yellow range solids. Btw, thanks for the chance to win this giveaway.
Laura
I’m a sucker for kona charcoal most often. Thank you for the giveaway!
allisonbright{at}gmail{dot}com
I love solids too, very inspiring as far as creating colour palettes go. I don’t really have one favourite, I’m a sucker for the turquoise family.
I haven’t made very many quilts, and none using solely solids. However, I grew up near Amish country, and their quilts are typically all solids– and they are stunningly beautiful. I love the geometric patterns, the contrast of black with bright solids, the simplicity… Just seeing that stack of fat quarters gets my mind churning with ideas!
solids are KEY. i think they’re getting their due again, happily.
i adore the simplicity of solids! my all time fav color is green but i have been obsessed with purple lately!
Love solid- they add so much! Thanks for the chance to win. My current fave is Kona Celery. I find it goes with practically everything!
I find I am using solids more and more in my quilts. Love this bundle! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
I want to make an all solid quilt sometime. Those colors are amazing!
I have to admit that when I am out and wander into a fabric store, I don’t drool over the solids….however, I have learned that you can’t mix print on print on print very successfully. You need some solids to set your patterns off. THank you !
I have to say I haven’t tried using solids in my quilts. I tend to buy prints. After seeing so many beautiful solids being used, I’d love to give it a try. It seems they add so much. Thanks for the chance to win these gorgeous colours.
I always lean towards the prints, but would love to start working and building my stash with solids. My favorite color changes as I do each pattern.
well prints are awesome and unique but solids can be unique too!! they are like a plain canvas! =]
I’ve been eyeing solids ever since purl bee posted the June quilt project. I’ve only used grey in a quilt but would love to be able to start a solids collection!
I’m crazy about solids. I tend to lean towards the cooler colors, blues greens and purples. And I love Kona Coal
Would love to add more color to my Kona stash (which just is Kona White at this time!) Those colors speak “summer” to me!
Your kites quilt has me smitten! That’s next on my list of things to try this summer. Thanks for the inspiration!
I use a lot of white, but rainbow solids are also in my quilts…Thanks for the giveaway!
I haven’t used any yet, but I certainly need to start. They really do provide a better balance.
I use solids in almost every quilt that I make. I haven’t made a quilt entirely from solids yet either but it’s on my list.
I love solids. Have made two quilts with solids and can’t wait to make more. Simple yet striking.
Would love to add those solids to my stash! Thanks for the chance to win
I love solids. The quilts that I am drawn to tend to have mostly solids with a sprinkling of pattern. I love bright colors tempered with greys.
I love solids for little facings on baby clothes, and they would also be great for applique. Thanks.
I love solids! I am actually a little pattern shy so I use them in everything I do!
I love reading your blog…it’s what got me to buy a sewing machine and start teaching myself to quilt! I love all of the patterned fabric that you use in your quilts, and am always so bummed to find out that they are ones from your collection that they don’t make anymore! I never really thought about solids really when I started to buy and collect fabric, but lately I’ve been thinking I probably need to add some just to have on hand. I think my favorites are greys and browns right now…anyway thanks for all of your inspiration
i love solids! but I don’t get the urge to buy them like I do with prints–too bad since they are so much cheaper. My favorite changes depending on the quilt, there are just so many great ones.
I tend to buy prints…so I could use some solids!
I love solids! My very first full-size quilt was an all-solids quilt. The design was based on an industrial stained glass window at the High Line park in NYC. One of my favorite colors is Kona Cayenne.
I’m all about the prints as well, but solids are starting to quietly demonstrate their classic appeal. Thanks for the giveaway. That stack is eye-catching! And cheery!!
Like you, I used to be all about pattern, but I now see how solids can highlight great colours and patterns. My favourites just now? Kona Ivory and Kona Ash.
love me the charcoal grey color, not sure of the specific name. but it’s got great saturation and works well with lots of colors!
I love love solids, I think it puts calmness in the quilt. The new solids colors are beautiful.
I love solids but have a hard time picking a favorite. I think it changes with my mood!
Beautiful colors-love them all > always use Kona whites, creams and black. Thanks for hosting a giveaway.
I am practicing my free motion quilting, so solids are wonderful to work with.
Solids are wonderful to quilt art designs with.
Debbie
I have two piles of Robert Kaufman’s prints waiting for some solids to match with them!
Love to win!!
I LOVE solids!! They are always my favorite quilts (even though I don’t use them enough!) I don’t have a favorite, I just love all brights!
My goal for my annual trip to Hancock’s of Paducah this May was to start stashing some solids! I never have what I need. I seldom work with solids only, but I have an idea for a quilt that would be yellow and gray solids. Thanks always for your inspiration and for the chance to win!
My favorite is color is Ash and Parsley. I hope to try new colors in the future! Thanks for the giveaway!
i love solids right now. they make a quilt a little simpler but still gorgeous.
thanks!
leisel
i like solids more than prints. prints that look closer to solids is about as far as I go when it comes to prints. i guess i am boring.
I love love Medium grey!!!!
Prints are nice and solids are nice, just depends on what I am working on. These colors are really nice. Am always amazed at how often I need just plain old sold black too though. Thanks for the chance to win.
I have practically no solids since I love color and pattern so much…but these look fun, esp. the linen blend. I’d love to win! Thanks for offering the giveaway.
I love all fabric, but sometimes I just want the stark, graphic, strong impact of all solids. And then I want solids that serve as a nice quiet foundation for fun prints. I know, I am fickle! This bundle you show looks good enough to eat! And my fave is Kona Snow, a great white, not too beige, not too cold, just right.
I love solids! My favourites right now are the beach glass bundle of Kona from Mad about Patchwork eshop. So beautiful!
I love using solids in my quilts. They can really showcase all the awesome prints!
I have been wanting to use solids in a quilt for a while now but haven’t had the courage to start. Maybe if I win it will push me over to the solid side of quilting!
I only have ever used black or white solids but, would certainly like to try some vibrant ones
I am always on the lookout for great solid colors. I, too, work mostly with prints BUT always need solids to work into the mix. Thanks for the giveaway. I love these Kona solids.
My last two quilts have been only solids, but that’s a first for me. I think it’s probably some Cherry House inspiration, but also just me realizing how fast some prints get outdated and maybe solids are a more “timeless” thing to work with. I’d love to have more. Thanks for the the giveaway.
I agree that solids are overlooked. I love all the bright colors available, but right now, I’m in LOVE with gray. Probably the Kona Coal.
Thanks!!
I was always ‘all about the prints’ myself too. But in the last few months I’ve come round to the benefits of a good range of solids in my stash.
I love solids, but I have yet to use them much. My son was helping me organize my fabrics the other day, and funily enough, he commented that I don’t have many solids, so I guess I need to remedy that situation!
I’ve really only used solids for sashing, but you are are convincing me I need to give them a larger role!
I love solids! I tend to use them mixed with either a one-tone print or a semi-solid. I’m working on just such a quilt now. As for colors, I am a huge fan of Kona coal and slate, they compliment so many other colors, especially jewel and acid tones.
I like solids but I can’t see myself making a quilt of only solids. I like print too much.
I’m just beginning to build my stash of solid fabrics – these beautiful solids would be a welcome addition.
Thank you for an opportunity to win them.
Thanks, Lori
Oh, aren’t they beautiful! Solids are solidly (heh) within my comfort zone; pairing patterns has always always been the challenge for me. Thanks so much for the great giveaway!
I ooh & aah over solids and include them in many quilts, BUT I haven’t taken the plunge yet to an all solid quilt! … one of these days I’m gonna pull out only solids & go for it
thanks for the chance to win!
I love mixing prints and solids-I feel like too many prints can overwhelm a quilt sometimes.
I don’t use solids that often, but I have plans to! Thanks for the giveaway, I don’t know how you do it these days with Max and the blog and the sewing!!! OH I was going to mention yesterday and forgot, but remember that Heather Ross print on spoonflower with the kites? Totally reminded me of your quilt. I know you already had a quilt back in mind, but maybe if you make another, you can use that print for the back. Not even sure if it’s still available though… sorry, I’m so random today!
love these colors they would be cute on a quilt, but I would mix with other prints
I haven’t worked with them a lot, but I just got some for the first time and am trying to figure out what to use them in! So I don’t have a favorite color yet!
I love Kona Solids. The colors are so rich! Thanks for the give-away.
I love mixing solids and patterns. I have used both quite a bit and feel like colors can help pull out the life in certain patterns. Thanks for a great giveaway.
Wonderful fabrics, you can never have enough of those in your stash. I love your kitequilt!
In desperate need of solids, I’ve been so absorbed in trying to collect prints I’ve completely ignored the lovely solids and Kona has some beauties! Turquoise or Bahama Blue would be my favorite Kona colour at the moment as I’m working on my first quilt with this gorgeous hue.
Mint green! Solids or patterns, am just loving all things mint green!
I’ve always loved solids and had to resort to dyeing them myself in the past. I’m so happy to see the variety of solids available now. Jackie’s are gorgeous!!
I started off looking at Amish quilts, so of course I love solid colours. It actually took some time for me to come back to prints! Fave colour for solids would be a red that would really pop out if used sparingly. There are some lovely Amish quilts that use a lot of blue tones with just a bit of red and it looks great.
I never really used solids because I thought prints were what made a quilt dynamic, but I’ve come to love solids and use them more often.
I have not used very many solids in my quilts, but I am starting to. My favorites so far are white and grey… I know, boring. I would love to try an all solid quilt sometime. Thanks for the giveaway!
The more I quilt the more I come to appreciate solids. Orange is my forever favorite color.
I’m always looking through my stash, wondering where all the solids are and thinking I should stock up. Those colors are so vibrant and the linen/cotton blend looks really nice. I wonder how it would sew up in clothes?
i guess i am in the minority in that i love soilds and have worked with them a lot, and i actually use kona in pure white on almost every quilt! usually, the rest of the design is very color-heavy and busy, so i go with white sashing. i am learning from you that there are others choices- i love all the grey!
I have not been using solids. I’m still about the prints but I think solids enhance the design sometimes and the prints. With such great colors and quality of fabric now I’m interested in using solids. I take that back I have used both black and white solids. I also used a teal once on a stacked coins quilt.
i’m a relative newbie to solids except for white but mostly because i just don’t remember to buy it . . . thanks for the chance to win
I have never done a quilt of solids…but would love to try one…your kites look fantastic
Love the colors in this bundle! I like mixing solids with prints in quilts, and I have several plans for all solids quilts. I have very little solids right now, so I’d like to add them to my stash.
I think solids are really important in a quilt, they give the eye a place to rest!
I’m currently obsessed with Kona Chartreuse.
Thank you for the chance to win! I love solids used lots of ways. I don’t have a current favorite! I like brights the best right now.
I haven’t really used solids much – I love the different prints I can pick up! – but I love the color combination you’ve picked out! Thanks for the chance to give solids a try! : )
I was participating in Modern Solids QA and Bella Parade recentl and thats what got me hooked on solids – its great! Im building up my stash, so a FQ-bundle would help me on the way
) Thanks for the chance!
These colours are lovely. My fabric colour choice usually depends on the season & the mood I’m in; I try to do different colours with each new quilt. I just finished a quilt top in brown, teal, green and cream solids and it looks lovely. So if I win, I would definitely be using these colours in a very fun summer quilt.
Those are such happy yummy colors!
I love solids, they add such a stable, subtle factor to quilts! I think my favourite this week are shades of grey!
I love solids! But so far, I have only used white and snow, I don’t think that really counts.
I have a stack of solids to coordinate with my central park fq stack, that I am just waiting to cut into.
I haven’t been much for using solids-but I’m slowly trying to work them in. I really love the coral color as well as the orange.
My current Kona Cotton favourite colour is Kona Ocean. I used it at Christmas time when sewing pillowcases and I’m using it now in some children’s quilts.
I have just awakened to solids (preferably Kona!) this past year. Coal is my fav.
Your blog is wonderful…and I really love seeing pics of Max. He is a little doll!
I love lime green! I tend to use more solids tthan prints, and always bright colours.
i adore Kona anything, I have wanted to do a quilt top I found in a magazine last year, and
this would really add to it the beautiful colors of the crayon box! thanks for the opportunity
The solids are such yummy colors….several projects already in mind. jeri
Love Cantonvillage Qultworks! That little Kona bundle is a joy to behold! I love solids more and more all the time!
I am definitely feeling the need to incorporate more solids. I love the “pop” they have mixed in with prints.
I love solids. I find that prints sometimes complicate the quilt. You may like the color in the print, but the picture/design is not what you want. My favorite color is yellow, and it always has been. Sometimes, I forget that other people don’t like yellow, because I get offended when hear people say, “Oh yuck!” to it.
I’ve been wanting to do an all solids quilt for awhile. I did a pillow case for my husband – a pixelated picture of Link from Zelda, which is pretty awesome, but not the same.
It seems that lately I am always looking for solids in my stash and coming up short! I love all of the colors in this bundle!
I have not had much practice with solids, I’d love to tho’ and I do like Kona better than the ‘other brands’. The few solids I have in my stash don’t seem to ever “work”. Thank You.
I’ve only just started using solids, literally this week lol I’m starting to see what I’ve been missing out on though!
i am only just starting to investigate patterns and i’m trying to embrace solids as well! it’s hard with so many patterns out there though.
Thanks for the great giveaway! I’ve just started adding more solids to my work and I love it. Purples and blues are my favorites but I would love to win the bundle!
I’m always a fan of solid and print mixed. I haven’t done anything that was a straight solid yet. But your last quilt may have me convinced.
My favorite solid of the moment is Kona School Bus. I think it’s the name more than the color, really, but I love it nonetheless!
I’ve started using solids more and more… I’ve completed one quilt using only solids and have a second one on the cutting table. Definitely a fun way to add variety to a quilting project. : )
I really like almost every color, but lately the solid color combination of tealish blue, celery green, and a light-medium gray are my go-to’s! I’m actually making a quilt with them right now, and sashing with some Kona (chocolate I think, but don’t quote me because I’m not even sure if there is a Kona Chocolate). I love it!
I’ve always been attracted to the solids because of their beautiful palette, but have used them sparingly. I’m planning to start an Amish-inspired ‘flying geese’ wallhanging soon as a housewarming gift. Thank you for offering the giveaway!
Solids are a must in most any project I sew!
Solids to make a quilt sparkle! I’m loving Kona Ice Frappe right now!
I haven’t done much with solids yet, but sure would love to! Thanks!
I love solids! Favorite color? Orange. Yellow. Green. I love them all!
I started with only prints as well, but now I like a nice mix of both prints and solids. I think they are a nice way to tie-in prints that you normally wouldn’t pair. Thanks for the chance to win!
I love using solids! My current favorite (which I just got in the mail and haven’t had a chance to use yet) is Kona Lupine, a medium purple, and also Kona Ochre which is an orangey-yellow.
I’m loving solids right now, and I’m adding them to everything. Right now I’m using white, but hoping to broaden my choices!
Love solids! This bundle is a mix of all my favorite colours. Beautiful!
I don’t have many solids in my stash. I mostly sew clothes and use the scraps for quilts, but most of my scraps are prints. Would love to have some solids to mix things up a bit.
I’m working on my first quilt right now and it’s all solids. I love they way it’s coming together and I’d be so excited to have more wonderful solid cotton!
I am always drawn to prints, but I am starting to slowly build my solids collection! My current favorite is Kona Coal (I know, not very original, but I can’t help what I love
)
I really love using solids and these ones are particularly beautiful colours!! Thanks for the opportunity!
I have some solid fabrics and I try to add a little bit of solid to each and every quilt. I remember watching Alex Anderson’s quilt show on HGTV when I was first starting to quilt and she said that solid fabrics give the eye some where to “rest” as you are looking at a quilt. I have always remembered that!
I am just starting to get into solids…they do add so much to a quilt! Thanks for the chance!
I would love to win these! I use to never use solids in my quilts either. Now I’m all about the solids.
I am trying to get better at using solids in quilts, but I am mostly using prints still… would love to start a solids pile in my stash!
I used to think solids played second string to prints, until I saw your Kites in the Clouds quilt this week. What understated beauty! I think it’s important to have some solids in every quilt, and I’d love to add these Kona pieces to my stash! Thanks for a great giveaway.
I love solids. I really like how they make designs pop more so than printed designs.
I want to use more solids, I really like the quilts I’ve been seeing with white. I know that sounds boring, but the white really brings out the other prints!
I’ve only used prints in the nine quilts I’ve made so far. My current project actually features some solid white. I would really love to start sewing with solids. It’s been hard to start my stash, though, because there are so many from which to choose! Thanks for the chance to bulk it up!
I’m definitely still in the beginning stages of incorporating solids, but already have piles of projects in mind!
I use a lot of solids, to “unite” the donated fabrics we receive for our quilt ministry. My favorites/staples? Kona White, Coal, Ash, and Espresso. But I just made a quilt for my hubby using the Poseidon bundle of Kona cottons – and it’s yummy!!
I have not used many solids yet. I have a pattern cut and ready to stitch in my to-do box. Would love to use more. The colors you picked are great.
I love adding solids to a quilt…it makes the prints pop and adds dimension to a quilt!! Thanks for the chance to win these lovely solids!
Paulette
just bought some kona grey which I’m looking forward to trying out! Mainly so far I’ve used solids as backing.
A quilt without solids is like a pizza without cheese! I love this sweet summer bundle!
LOVE LOVE SOLIDS! LOVE KONA TOO! INCLUDE THEM IN EVERY PROJECT! THANKS SO FOR SHARING!
Love them colors…never really tried to use solids…scares me a bit…BUT those colors look almost edible..will have to try some soon!
Hugs x x
I love solid bindings and I think they are so great as ‘frames’! Thanks!
Solids rock my world! I love them. Thanks for the giveaway.
I recently used plain old brown as part of a backing. I quilted it with a random arrangement of overlapping circles (tracing all sizes of my stainless mixing bowls). Having an interesting quilting pattern makes solids that much more fun!
I love solids so much that I’ve started dyeing my own, so I can get just the color I want. But I have a stash of commercials as well, and would love to add these!
Thanks for the giveaway! I seen more and more solids. Although I haven’t tried anything in just solids, I will have to one of these days!
I mostly use white, but I have run into quilty situations where I think: “This is where fun colored solids would come in handy!” I think solids are a good way to tie patterned fabrics together!
I’m almost done with my first all-solids quilt. Like you, I was most drawn to all the great prints when I started quilting, but I’ve recently started to appreciate solids.
Solids are wonderful. I like using a solid to tie in all of the colors of a quilt.
Love your kites! The colors really pop against the Kona Coal background. This GiveAway of Rainbow solid FQ is very nice of you. Thanks! ;P
Hey there,
I love solids. However as much as I love them I tend to use marbles more than solid. This color combo you have is very pretty together.
I Love solids but always seem to get excited about and buy prints. My favorites are blue-green, but I’m trying to branch out
Personally my favourite quilts are made from only solids. So modern! Thanks for a great giveaway!!!
I have not made a quilt using only solids, but I always include a solid in my quilt. Currently I love gray.
honestly i’ve never used solids, but these colors are so captivating that they make me want to give it a shot!
I generally use white Kona as sashing/borders to make the colours of my patterned fabrics really pop…I love the quality and ‘feel’ of Kona cotton…but their luscious colours are an added bonus…I recently purchased some Kona Honeydew which I am going to use as sashing in a quilt with Laurie Wisbrun’s Urban Circus range in the Spring colour way…
I seem to be liking solids more and more – especially the yummy colours!
Love those bright and vibrant colours… I am trying to built my solids stash this bundle would be awesome! Thanks for the chance!!
I have no solids in my stash. Horrible. I do find myself buying Kona Coal quite a bit. I love it with pinks.
I picture a pretty picnic quilt with these beautiful solids!! Please count me in for this giveaway!! Thanks!
I have been using solids lately to frame some of the fantastic prints out there, and I would like to explore more projects with solids exclusively. I love the variations in shot cottons, and usually go for Kona Snow and Ash.
I was like you and never used solids. In fact, I’ve just started to incorporate solids into my quilts!
I think it’s common to start quilting with a love of prints. Solids are like the negative space.
As you create you realize the importance of solid.
I incorporate solids into pretty much all my quilts. My brain needs them to give it frames and lines of focus. The idea of a complete top out of only solids!? Way too scary for me. Thanks for the giveaway, Jackie!
I feel like I just recently discovered solids- I love the modern look they give a quilt. Cannot choose a favorite!
I’m just starting to use solids and do plan on using them much more in the future. the combo of solids and prints really compliment each other in designs I find.
I never paid attention to solids until I started quilting last year. Now I love them!! Our local quilt shops don’t many solids (why not?!?!), so I’m always trying to sneak them into other online orders! Thank you for the chance to win this beautiful stack
Prints are what catches my eye. I’m somewhat new to quilting, so I’m still building up my stash of solids.
Oh, I LOVE solids! My preference would be to only quilt with solids. I like patterns, but find it too complicating.
I’m a big fan of solids though I have yet to do a quilt using only solids. It’s definitely on the ‘to do’ list however. And in terms of a favorite color – anything green!
Oh I love blue……all shades of the Kona blues together……..just delicious.
Just look at the Amish quilts for their fantastic use of solids….all shades together, they are just remarkable!
thanks so much for the chance to win these beautiful KONAs !
Happy sewing
I’ve *just* finished an all-solids quilt for my modern guild’s Kona Solids Challenge. My favourite solid right now is Kona Medium Gray. I love how it goes with *everything*! Thank you to you and CVQW for this great giveaway!
That is a lovely stack of fabrics. I think solids are a big part of any quilt. My favorite right now is lime green, it just seems to be working with everything. Thanks.
I love using solids! My current favorite is Kona Lupine, a medium purple which just came in the mail and I haven’t had a chance to do anything with it…and also Kona Ochre which is an awesome orangey-gold color!
Solids allow me to calm my eyes and focus in on the prints. Every manufacturer has a different color tone which make finding solids just as much fun as prints.
I love patterned fabrics but definitely include solids as well and sometimes use only solids. I find that as your quilting matures, you are more willing to add in solids…just like gardening. As my gardening matures, I am more likely to consider adding a foliage plant over a flower one!
Those fabrics are fabulous! I have some solids, but haven’t put them in my quilts much–guess I waiting for a very special project!
I have just fallen in love with solids lately – Kona is my stand-by but I love Amy Butler’s solids as well. Oh and even though they aren’t technically one color I so adore Kaffe Fausett’s shot cottons too. Thanks for the lovely give away!
I am being drawn to solids more and more…perhaps i shall consider a go at only solids…smiles. the kona colors are oh so yummy….
I’ve never really been a big fan of solids until recently after seeing some amazing things done with them. I’ve definitely changed my mind though now and would love to start using them more.
Yummmm….that looks like citrus and sunshine all wrapped together! Wow, could I have fun with those fat quarter!
Vanessa in Oklahoma
i love ALL solids!
I love Kona Solids and Jackie your shop is wonderful. I have bookmarked it so I can return and shop. Thanks for the giveaway.
I’m a bit scared of solids still – they show so much – but I would love to try your kite quilt, so maybe that will break me in to the solid world.
I used to never use solids but now I am loving them. I would love to win this bundle, they would be great for my Bottled Rainbows quilt I want to do. Thanks so much for the giveaway!
i’m all about the prints as well! hope to start my solids stash with this lovely bundle, green is my favorite color. thanks for the chance.
I love using solids and stash them like I do prints. This bundle is so pretty – thanks for hosting the giveaway!
I love that there are so many quality designer solids available now. I love them for sashing and borders, and for coorinating with a print for bags and purses. THANKS for the chance!
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
These summer colors make my mind come alive with possibility, love this time of year!!!!
WOW….it was a l-o-n-g way down here to comment!! I’m like you on the solids. I always bought prints until I started quilting and became a fan of Tonya over at Lazy Gal Quilter/Unruly Quilter and Gwen Marston. I now try to keep my solids well stocked!
I use solids to accentuate prints; without them, the patterns tend to get overwhelmed and lost as they compete with each other. When I have a print that I want to really stand out (or that was so expensive I could only afford a small amount of), I like to do a mostly solid quilt with small amounts of the print.
Solids are vital, as they break up the business, and make the final product more “clean” and modern looking, less busy.
I love solids & prints! I believe the solids are great at setting off the prints… definitely a great combo! Don’t really have a favorite color as they change all the time! These solids are beautiful! Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
I love to use solids to really set off special prints. And maybe I’m boring, but I love solid backings on quilts because you can really see the quilting stitch pattern, which is one of my favorite parts!
I’ve been working on the solids quilt challenge that has been making the rounds of the Modern Quilt Guilds. I love how it’s turning out and wouldn’t have though to make an all solids quilt on my own. Except… I have been loving the rainbow/ombre quilts that have been popping up.
Count me in for a chance to win some yummy solids. Those look lovely!
I am one of those people that didn’t realize how beneficial strategically placed solids could be until I got done with my first couple of quilts. Lately I’ve been using a lot more solids, and love making quilts with bright bold solids.
I am trying to use more solids becuase it adds a nice resting place to all the busy prints. Currently I love the primary colors.
I’ve got a new appreciation for solids after completing my modern quilt guild Kaufman challenge quilt. I used a new to me colour as background: celery. I love it! It is a nice change from charcoal/ash/grey.
love the flavours, I mean colours. Would love to use them!
I LOVE solids and do use them in my quilts. My favorites are cerise and ash. I have never tried raisin, I will have to check it out!
I love solids – especially limes (my fave is Chartreuse). Jackie has great selection of Kona and what is also important: color bundles.
Love solids but have just recently started collecting them! Love any color in the blue family! thanks for the give away!
I like solids. Anything green is my favorite!
I usually just use solids for background/borders/sashing…but I’ve never used any of the Kona solids. I’ve always bought cheapy solids.
I’d love to win these and give them a try!
Thanks for the chance!
I love solids and have several all solid quilts in mind. My favorite solids, because it is just so versatile, is coal.
I just love Kona solids and I couldn’t pick a favorite because I just love all the ones I have and want one day to have them all.
Thanks for the chance to win these.
Never been big on solids. Only recently turned to lots of white. Would love to give it a try, though.
I almost always use solids in my projects. They really help your eyes rest and enjoy the prints. Too many prints thrown together wear me out! I especially love this grouping of colors…. they make my mouth water!
I need some solids to tie in with some quilts in the future.
Lovely! I’m just starting out on the whole “quilting” thing but I am so inspired by everyone’s beautiful quilts! Would love to add to my stash!
Gorgeous colours! the mango is to die for….
just completed a solids quilt along, and taking part in a solids challenge, I love them! Don’t have a favourite, because they change mood in combination if you know what I mean? The think I like most about solids, is the importance that *what you do with them* has, they’re less forgiving on your piecing and more timeless.
I’ve just started to work with solids. Thanks for the giveaway. I’d love to win this group of solids.
I like solids and prints but not in the same quilt. If I make a quilt with prints I might use 1 solid but that’s it, no more. When I make a quilt with solids ,it’s solids only.
I guess I’m the dull banana in the bunch, as I like browns and tans, however, after peeking at your picnic quilt, I love the Kona Raisin!!! I may have a new favorite!
Aqua! Lime green! Especially together! And red, pink, and orange together are wonderful too!
I adore solids. My favorite quilt is entirely made of solids. However I have found that I initially ordered most of my solids in 1/2 yards but full yards are so much more practical for when I use them in a project. Oh well, we all learn somehow.
I love using solids in quilts now, but initially, like you, I wasn’t as keen. My favourite also changes, depending on what I’m working on, but I do seem to be drawn to the blues – aqua and turquoise particularly!
Oh, what lovely colors! The first (and, so far, only) “big” quilt I sewed is made entirely from solids. I used the colors in my living room (couch, pillows, wooden furniture) for inspiration, and it turned out great.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I’ve just started buying more solids. I love how they can bring so much more to quilts. I made a table runner yesterday which I know I wouldn’t of finished had I not owned some solids. I’m looking forward to making more blankets this summer with my solids. Thanks for the chance to win those great bright colors! Plus cute little boy, I love seeing photos.
I too would love to win this
Beautiful colors! I mostly use white as a solid, but should branch out a bit!
Love all the pastel colours! Solids are just great to go with any floral prints. I love to work with solids.
I just love solids. I always go for the vibirant solid colors. Thank you for having this giveaway.
Love the new Kona solid colors. I think Mango is my favorite!
I love solids. I like to use either solids or tone on tone with most of my quilts. Great giveaway.
I just love these colors. I like the vibirant solids. Thank you for having this giveaway.
I am at the end of completing a top using 2/3 solids. Here in Malaysia, I still have difficulty sourcing out good quality solids without buying outside. I might have one but its a bit off the way and i have no idea which part of town its in (even though its in one of those ‘famous’ part of town).
There’s very few printed lines I like out there, so I prefer creating with solids! I think they make a bolder statement then a quilt or project made from prints.
I use solids all the the time.
I mostly use prints, but I do have some solids and hope to incorporate more of them in my sewing.
Pretty much any shade of green is my fave, but I also gravitate towards oranges and mustard yellows.
I use mostly batiks, but am starting to appreciate solids more. This is a gorgeous collection of solids. Would love to win it.
I don’t use very many solids. But I love your kites in a cloud quilt! Thanks for a chance.
Lime green! And I love making blocks and projects from solids that coordinate…and these are perfect! Thank you!
I really like solids in quilts and I don’t mind solids mixed with prints. Oooh… as for colors- probably a pale blue + orange. At least that is the phase I’m going through now.
I don’t have any solids in my stash! Whoops! I definitely need to add some because they really do add a lot to a project.
I love the vibrant colors!
I love solids-I made a quilt for our bed recently using kona solid jelly rolls and charm square. I like how clean and simple solids are.
Hi Ashley, I have always loved your Flying Farfale quilt and now Kites in a Cloud, the grey background really makes the solids pop. I have recently started building my stash of solids and my favorite right now is lime green.
I’m in love with Medium Gray, so if I had to pick only one, that would probably be it. I’ve used it in a number of quilts and bought a partial bolt a couple of months ago. Just recently made a purchase of a whole bolt (15 yards!) of white. There are a number of colors in the green/blue family I’d really like to try on my Kona Color Card, too.
I love solids in a quilt — I think that they really set off the patterns well. I really like a sunny yellow.
I’ve been quilting for about 25 years, but took a 1 year break and have been back at it for almost a year now … wow, things changed so much … solids! I’ve yet to do anything with them, but the new patterns and quilts that are coming out are amazing with the solids and I can’t wait to get on the train! They are clean, make everything pop. I love color, brights and jewel tones are amazing … but my all time favorite is black, everything contrasts so nicely against it and just sparkles. Thanks for the giveaway!
traditionally, i have used solids for backing only. but being recently inspired by the red & white quilt exhibit that was up i am starting to love the idea of all solids quilts. i currently have too many projects on the list which i’ve already bought fabric for, so not sure when i will actually get to start an all solids quilt!
i’m like you, my choices in color constantly change. but right now i am in a patriotic red, white & blue phase (always comes at this time of year)
I love using solids in my projects. My two favorites to use are a just barely off-white and any deep deep pink.
celery! love that one! and love your use of solids, i just finished my first quilt top with all solids and am hooked- can’t wait to make more!
I love using solids in my work. I have enjoyed your quilts too. They usually make me think outside the box!!
I love the delicious colors of this bundle. I love solids because they give a beautiful stage to other lovely prints. Extremely busy quilts aren’t my style so solids play a strong role in my quilting style.
I usually only use solids on the back of my quilts, so the only solids in my stash are leftovers from previous quilts. Maybe this will be an encouragement to use some solids on the fronts too.
I like warm colours, thaks for the chance!
I love to use solids in a quilt to give my eyes a “place to rest”. Thanks for the chance!
I love solids – i like to sue them to ‘frame’ prints or as trim in my sewing.
Love using solids to compliment prints, but your kite quilt gave me lots of inspiration to use only solids. Sometimes the print is overwhelming. Thanks for offering a lovely stash additive.
Ooo solids!! Desperately needing some
I have the cutest pinwheel pattern I’ve been dying to make and these would be beautiful in it.
Thanks for the opportunity!
I love solids – in fact my first quilt was made of just solids, I feel it can give lots of lovely space for quilting designs. Thank you C
I just finished a twin bed sized quilt all from solids in greens and charcoal. But I did the binding with a dotty print just to give it a bit of interest. I’m currently working on another done in all solids in purples, ash and charcoal, but I have a black/white pinstripe lined up for the binding. I think solids are great and used alone can be very striking, used with prints can calm down a busy design. I don’t have a favorite color because it is constantly changing with my moods, but that bundle makes me think of fruit sherbert! So fun!
Thanks!
Tracy
I am where you used to be…all about prints. Usually, the closest I get to a solid is a print that reads like a solid, although I do own some white. These colors are pretty enticing and inspiring, though! And i did bookmark your kite and dinner date posts Thanks for the give away!!
I love solids but I have barely any in my stash so I could really use some!!!
I love solids – I made everyone a quilt for Christmas and was stumped for a “masculine” style to make my husband. I ended up making a stacked quilt with three long vertical stacks out of mostly solids – earthy greens, blues, stone all from Kona’s line – and I love it. I plan to make more for the kids but of course with more colorful solids. I think solids add so much to a quilt. I quilt for color and often fairly monochromatic so colids add a lot to that end. Anyway, favorites that show up often are Kona Medium Grey, Kona Grapemist (in daughter’s), and Kona Bahama Blue (son’s stuff). Have a great weekend!
I’m juuuuust starting to quilt, and juuuuust starting to appreciate what solids bring to the mix. They’re like a visual breather for the patterned fabrics. What a great giveaway – I’d love to add these to my stash!
I think the kona solid that I use the most right now is coal but I really LOVE all of the pinks, oranges, and greens. Oh who am I kidding? I love them all!
I’m not in the habit of working in solids, but I’d like to figure that out!
I love using solids in quilts. They really add sparkle, and I like the fact that you can really show off some quilting in those “plain” fabrics. They are fun!
Those are beautiful colors!
Most of the quilting I do utilizes mainly solids with some prints for accent. My favorite Kona solid right now is lagoon. Or chartreuse. Or corn yellow. Or, who am I kidding, I love them all!
I don’t usually use solids except as a background, but I’ve been noticing some quilts out there lately that are made of all solids and I’m thinking it might be time to try it myself! This collection of colors is just delicious! Thanks for the chance!
MGM
I love red! But I’m warming up to yellow too…
Love the solids, thoes just look so happy.
I usually mix solids in with my patterned fabrics to give a little variety. I love to see how different colors can come together in ways you wouldn’t expect so I bet an all solids quilt could be pretty interesting. I hadn’t thought about that before but it would be fun to try.
I just started to get into solids and I love them!
I’ve been drawn to the quilts of Gee’s Bend lately and have tried my hand at improvisational design using solids. With this, I’m learning about hue, color composition and the difference between different solid fabrics. I’m drawn toward the dark reds right now. But tomorrow is always another day!
I love solids—I think they add to the color balance & overall texture of a quilt in ways that prints just can’t. Solids need prints & prints need solids. ‘Tis a happy marriage between the two!
I’m still a fan of prints, so maybe this bundle will help me see the light!
Love the colors. I’ve been wanting to try using more solids…this would definitely give me a start!
Thanks.
I usually add white or coal solids to my quilts. I really, really need a shove toward using colored solids in my work. I’m just too much of a chicken I guess. I love Chartreuse, though.
I love solids! They are timeless.
I love solids, they can be so dramatic in a quilt. Thanks for the chance!
I have never used solids in a quilt~ mainly because I’ve never seen any as bright and beautiful as those! Thanks for the chance!
Those are SO pretty! I am just getting started quilting, but am finding solids really add a lot to a quilt – instead of it being so ‘busy’
I have shyed away from using solids – maybe fear they should mistakes so much more than prints. Maybe I should try and overcome these fears!!!!
I don’t love solids unless it is a mashup of all solids, then I love them! The spectrum of colors is better than the sum of the parts!
I love all the colors. Mostly purple. Thank you that I play with you.
I just finished my first quilt top using all solids and I really like it! The pattern is from Cherri House’s book “City Quilts” and I have to admit that it took me a LONG time to figure out which of the quilt tops to make first as there are so many great ones! Kona has way too many great colors to pick just one, but I did just use Glacier in a blanket.
I love Kona! I am snotty about it too, only using Kona solids. I love these, but my favorite is plum!
I think of solids like I think of accessaries. Similar colors help to blend the pallette, while contrasting colors create contrast, and as a result help create that color Pop we all talk about. It is so much fun to play around with color. And solids are an integral part. They can soften bright colors, like using gray with yellow, or serve as a visual transition when combining unusual color combos. I am definitely a fan.
Those are beautiful solids!
Currently I am smitten with combining black with any batiks I can get my hands on!
Your quilts are so beautiful and inspiring! I am fairly new to quilting and am definitely going to try to make a quilt using solids…the Kona Charcoal is such a beautiful backdrop! Thanks
I love solids and I’ve definitely been trying to use them more in my quilts. My go to solid seems to be Ash at the moment, but I love all the purples!
I love solids! I just made my first quilt top entirely out of Kona solids, and I love the results. I cannot wait to have the time to quilt it. Have a great weekend:)
I love solids, I don’t use them nearly enough but I hope to change that!
I was going to say my favourite solid was Ash, but looking at that fantastic yellow in your picture above might just sway me, what a spectacular sunny happy colour that is!
Love Konas! Have the colour card too and I love choosing matching solids for my prints.
Bye
Susanne
I certainly need more solids in my stash. They are so versatile. I have been seriously considering making an all solids quilt. I never realized how great they could be until I found the City Quilts book.
I really need solids. I think I’ve got some muslin does that count?
Great giveaway! like you at the beginning i used to use pattern fabric but my taste has changed/evolved and i like to add solid fabric to my quilts. My favouriate colour at the moment is grey
Thanks for doing a giveaway! I haven’t really used many solids in my quilts, besides white, but I’m very new at quilting also. I’d love to give it a try and those are beautiful colors!
When I see such beautiful colors grouped together it really inspires me to give solids a try.
I have grown weary of the many many prints designed for either children or young women – I am able to create a more elegant and timeless quilt with solids
I’m still getting used to working with solids, but I figure the more practice the better – I love these – so summery!
I am really starting to love solids. I just started branching out to them in December. Right now my favorite is Kona aqua – which perfectly matches Baby’s nursery paint color.
I love color… in any shape or form! Those solids are such cheerful lively colors… I am especially drawn to greens at the moment because they mix so well with others. Thanks for the chance to win.
I don’t use them nearly enough but I do have a few in my stash…I’d say solids make up less than 10% of my collection, though I must say that this little lovely bundle has inspired me to get a few more in there!
There are a few quilts made with solids that I am adoring right now. One has a lot of gray in it. I was going to buy some fabric and put it in my to do pile, but I talked myself out of it. My taste may change by the time I get time to actually make it.
I’m definitely a fan of solids. Never have enough!
I’m new to solids. I used to think they were boring, but I swear they didn’t use to offer these delicious colors!
Who could resist all those yummy colours. I use solids all the time now in my quilts, and they just make me so happy!
love solids I am starting to use them more often in lots of projects. Yellows and blues are my favorites….for now.
I’ve actually never worked with solids before! I need to change that! Lovely colors, thanks to you and Jackie for the giveaway!
I LOVE solids! I have been wanting to make a quilt of just solids for quite some time. There is something so modern to me about the way solids can play together.
Fabulous giveaway! I heart solids…but I too usually add them to a quilt with cute prints. Thanks!
I love love love these colors and really want to win! Thanks for the great giveaway!
Solids are always lovely! I think I started quilting right around the time that a lot of people were starting to test the waters of solids – thus I’ve always used them a lot. I like a lot of print too… but never really got into the traditional ways of using fabric in quilts. I guess I just never liked to follow the rules.
I love solids to combine with prints, but also for an all solids quilt! Currently I’m using various shades of green to mix with some Kaffe Fassett prints…
Love this bright pack tough!
Do polka dots count as a solid? Meh. I think I can count on one hand how many solids I have. (My linen and denim stash are part of that count!) So, yes, I need to start loving the solids!
Beautiful selection. I love all the Kona blues. I also hold you personally responsible for getting me hooked on fabric, in a good way. Hope you are having a fun summer as a new mom. Your son is adorable.
I’m loving solids lately. Can’t say that I have a favorite. I do use white a lot. The color that I’m drawn to lately is sea green. Thanks for sharing.
I love all blues and purples, these are all beautiful
I love solids. I haven’t used them much before but recently I have been very interested in them. They do seem to add so much extra color and excitement to a quilt. Thanks for the chance to win some. My favorite color would have to be red.
I love solids–my favorite is orange.
I love how they are able to come up with new colors that are spot on with current prints…so beautiful and so helpful. Thanks for the chance to win.
I use some solids and find that I use more than I used to. I tend to have a few favorite colors that I always go back to. A beautiful olive green and a nice medium gray are a couple of my basics, but I would love to win this beautiful bright solids bundle!
I’ve always liked to mix solids and prints. I like the way it can calm an otherwise busy quilt.
Most of the quilt shops in my area don’t have many solid fabrics to choose from. I have ordered from Canton Village Quilt Shop in the past and they do have such a nice selection
)
I only quilt with solids! For me the challenge is playing with prints and learning to use them.
Hello! Kona solids are just so AWESOME! I love big splashy florals and a lovely complimenting solid!
I have only just started including solids in quilts – they add so much! I don’t know that I have a favorite, but right now gravitating to tangerine orange.
I have always used subdued solids in my quilts. But after seeing this bundle I would love to give them a try.
Love the colors! I have no solids in my tiny stash and those would be a wonderful addition
I’ve been dreaming of making a quilt out of just solids, but don’t have the stash for it yet. These awesome colors would definitely complement the ones I already have! I love working with Kona Coal, it’s one of my ideal shades of grey.
I always plan to use solids and then carried away with prints. I really need to use them more. Because I agree that they really can make a quilt pop!
How beautiful together. A perfect quilt in a bundle. Just started using solids, a neutral Kona Ash, so as to be too traumatic! It was a perfect way to start!
I;m starting to realise how great solids can be & am getting an itch to make a quilt completely out of solids soon. x
I think it’s time for me to get started on a quilt with solids as the focus. I love your kites quilt!
i learned to love solids when i started scrapbooking and like you i had bought and stashed a TON of patterns! but i loved the clean-ness it creates and then really draws the eye to the bit of pattern you have or the design. Right now my favs are greys, oranges and lime greens. i currently have an interesting pile of solids for a new bedspread inspired by a pillow: light grey, chocolate, magenta, bright yellow and burnt orange! yum!
I consider solids to be not *quite* as exciting as prints, but I think my quilts look a LOT better when there are solids mixed in , and not just a bunch of prints!
It never occurred to me to use solids until I saw some of the more modern quilts (yours in particular). How can anything so beautifully simple be so far out of my comfort zone? This collection of solids you’re offering are delicious.. downright edible. Okay, ready to dive right in.
I’ve not used a lot of solids yet in my quilting (other than white) but I have an idea for a quilt that would use nothing but solids and this collection would work great for it.
I’m just starting to explore the use of solids–mostly neutrals. That bundle Jackie is offering up says ‘flower applique’ to me. I’m thinking some hand stitches for embellishment, maybe some beads and/or buttons
Hi Ashley,
I love to use solids in my quilts along with prints, I find the solids really highlight the other pieces. I love the Kona Banana color, however I have not had a chance to use it.
I also love solids for sashing or the backs of quilts.
Sonja
Love solids. They are timeless…Kona Cayman (i think that is what it is called) is my favorite shade of aqua right now.
I love to use solids in my quilts…whe I first started quilting that’s all I used..but they weren’t as nice as what we have now….I would love to win this bundle. Thank you for this chance..I can’t pick a favorite; it depends on the day; the mood; and what I’m using it for…lol
I like solids very much, but I usually use them as “background”. It would be great to build at least a small stash. I’d love to try orange or dark yellow in a quilt, although they might be way outside my comfort zone.
I love solids! Especially with all the gorgeous colors available.
I am currently in LOVE with solids! My local chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild is participating in the Robert Kaufman solids challenge, and that was my first all-solids project. Right now I love Kona Grass Green, but that’s probably because I’m using it in a current project.
I love adding solids to my quilts — and Konas are my favorites!
I love solids! I think my favorite is Kona Terragon – I bought 4 or 5 yards with a coupon at Joann’s since it is my favorite color, so I don’t have to worry about running out!
I love me some solid Kona cottons! For quilting and for hand embroidery. Toss my name in the hat please.
Jody
I use about 75% solids in my quilting. And I LOVE linen/cotton blends for my quilting! My favorite is no longer being made – boo!! It was a dark red, the perfect red actually, from Peapod fabrics in San Francisco (I actually don’t know manufacturer or color). I still have a few scraps left! Having fun with Max? He’s so handsome.
Ooh pretty! I do love using solids. I seldom use white but like using a very saturated solid as my “neutral”. My favorite solids tend to fall in the pumpkin range. I really like quilts made with all solids but have not yet ventured that far.
I love the Kona solids. I just finished a strip quilt and used Kona cotton on the back in a camel color, but I added a strip of floral fabric to break it up horizontally. I like the solids to help bring out a focus color in my prints. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Those are beautiful fabrics. I don’t use solids in my quilts but would love to try it out:)
ohhhhhhhhhh…I’ve been thinking for quite a while “I need to get some solids for my quilts”, but then get distracted by the pretty prints and never quite manage to part with my cash…so maybe this could be the start of something new and different…
anyway…would love to win…loving all the posts…well done for keeping it going and having a new baby!!! xxx
I am slowly building up my collection of solids, and currently wishing I had a bit more yellow!
I’ve only just started using solids, and with much trepidation as it’s so difficult to match colours when buying on-line and Kona is not only hard to find in the UK, but pretty pricey!
Can you tell us which colours are in this bundle – it would make a lovely mini Bottled Rainbows quilt and I’d love to order a bundle (unless I’m lucky and win!!)
I’m going through a phase in which only solids in patchwork. I have a lot of prints in my stash, but right now I seem to be only using my solids.
I love solids, I’ve got 3 quilts planned using only solids
Usually when I work with a solid, it’s black–but I’m trying to start branching out!
I buy prints and often forget about solids. Thanks for the chance to win some great solids.
I love using solids in my quilts and often use them to incorporate texture i.e. rouching
Wow with so many comments I don’t have a chance. But I will try anyway. those solids are yummy. I look at them and I see an updated Amish quilt. Hugs.
I am on the quilting with solids bandwagon. I can’t pick a favorite color though. When I look at my Kona color card I want them all….
i love love love solids in my quits! i usually always have a nice charcoal gray in everything i make.
Oh, I just LOVE solids! And yes, my favorite goes back and forth quite a bit. Though my favorite combo, that I’d like to work into a quilt somehow one of these days, is Kona Teal and Sage.
ahhh, solids! kona solids! green kona solids! i use them: appliques, litle borders, inner borders, outer bordrs, accents; always include a yard of any color i’m short of in every order.
I don’t have very many solids in my stash yet, although, there is a quilt that I’d love to make that is all solids. This pack of fabrics are soo yummy. They definitely inspires me.
Thanks to you I’m using them LOTS more!! I love what you do with white!!
I love solids and need to add some more to my fabric stash! I’m hoping to soon do an all solids quilt. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have been a little afraid of solids -they seem less “forgiving” especially with minimal quilting or tying… they cry for more…. but I am trying to stretch my wings and embrace them – love the look.
I love solids because I love color. But then, I have a hard time not loving fabric as long as it is bright and cheery.
I just started making my first quilt, so I haven’t really explored the use of solids or prints besides in this first attempt. It does happen to have two solids in it, a deep orange and a dark gray.
I have never been one to use to many solids. I currently don’t have any and need a few badly.
Ever since I’ve seen Amish quilts in Lancaster County my appreciation of solids has grown. My last few projects have incorporated more solids and I’m really happy with the results.
I find it very satisfying to play with solids. Some of my favorite quites have been simple two-tones.
I’ve used neutral solids in a few quilts. Need to become adventurous and try out some bright solids. Thanks for the giveaway.
Love these-they make me want to make my daughter a rainbow dress:)
I started quilting because of the prints….but have recently begun to collect and use more solids. I love the quilters linen as well–just used it for the first time recently.
I haven’t gotten started adding solids yet (just to attracted to the patterns!) but I have seen many wonderful examples lately of just how the solids “pop” the patterns so I am hoping to start using them more.
I am just starting out on the solids bandwagon.
I recently made a bento box type quilt from prints paired with a matching solid, and am quite pleased with the results.
I think more solids will be in my future!
I think solids are a great way to bring out the colors in prints. My favorite colors are any bright blue and bright green! Have a great weekend!
I like quilts that are composed of all solids. I would never have said that before I took a seminar from the amazing Gwen Marston and learned so much. I highly recommend her books and if you ever get to take a class where she teaches about solids, RUN, don’t walk. Changed my quilting preferences, totally!
I have hardly any solids. I love the prints so much, it’s hard to put some down for some solids instead! I keep saying i need to ear-mark some $$ for solids though! Great give-away! Thanks for the chance to get some beautiful fabrics!
I generally use solids for sashing or binding, but I’ve seen some beautiful quilts made only with solids.
Perfect timing! I was just looking through my fabric stash last weekend and said to my husband that I needed to get some solids to be able to make anything with the random collections of prints I have.
These solids would go perfectly with a Laurel Birch quilt I have in the works. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I love them all and would not be able to tell you a favourite!!
i am new to quilting- my first 3 incorporated all patterned fabric, but the 4th was all solids and i loved it! i fashioned it after a painting by paul klee called “flora on the sands” and there were about 20 different solid fabrics in it! My next quilt will definitely be all solids once again!
I never use solids! unless its for a backing- I would love to start adding some to my designs.
I have a small amount of homespun in solid colours that I have had for years that I used for applique, but being new to quilting, I haven’t used any solids in quilts yet. I recently bought myself a Kona colour chart so that I can match solids to my prints but haven’t used it yet. I love the colours in that bundle, nice and fresh and bright!
I have never made a quilt from only solids, but I can certainly see one in my future! My favorite colour changes frequently…but right now I love tangerine.
I actually seldom use solids, but I’ve loved every quilt I’ve seen of yours that uses them. I love the Raisin solid that you mentioned as a binding and really should use them more in my quilting. Would love to win this bundle.
Ohhhhhhhhhh drool! I love the juicy colours in this bundle. Thanks for the giveaway.
I use a lot of Kona white but am slowly acquiring a few others…next quilt will be a combination of both. Thanks for the chance to win…BTW, love your blog
I have not been in the habit of using solids. I’m just now discovering the more “modern” trend in quilts, and I do love the way solids are used. I have a couple of more projects to finish, and then I may give it a try.
I {heart} solids…I wish the quilt shops in my area carried more solids. I am just working on my first quilt but I would love to use solids on some upcoming projects I have in mind I love the simplicity.
Thanks for hosting this giveaway
For ten years I never used a solid, now at least one goes into every quilt. Love the look so much right now!
so many comments, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Love the solids I see on-line and the quilts made with them.
Thanks for hosting this giveaway! I have just begun to use solids in my projects. I’d love to build the colors in my solid stash. Love the lime green!
I’m not a solid fabric person, but those are gorgeous. I would love working with those fabrics!
I love what people are doing with solids lately and can’t wait to try something like that myself. Can’t choose a favorite color though; there are just too many!
greetings! i have seen many examples of solids being in quilts on different blogs and i find them absolutely stunning. i would like to give it a whirl myself, so i hope i win!
I’ve been trying to experiment a bit more with solids because I tend to get a bit carried away with all the beautiful patterned fabric out there! Definitely agree that solids add a zing to a design though, especially in the beautiful colours you’re giving away…
I am a recent convert to solids and cant get enough of them. I would love to make your kites quilt. Thanks to you and Canton Village for the giveaway
I think solids are necessary. Backgrounds dont always have to be white, offwhite, and cream prints!
I would love some solids for my stash. I appreciate the emphasis on the quilt pattern you get with the simple solids.
That bundle of color is terrific. I’m making a quilt using a pattern by Empty Bobbin called Seeing Squares. I’m using different Kona solids and some prints–nothing is really planned. Thanks for the great opportunity to add these to my collection.
First time visiting the site. Just started listening to the podcast and almost caught up. Love it. Keep up the great job.
Love solids, they are great on their own are mixed with prints to calm things down.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Love these colours & love adding solids to my projects!! I’m all about oranges & greens!!!
I love solids but don’t have too many in my stash. I always figure I won’t have enough of the color I need so I wait to get what I need for a specific project. I love a great Robin’s Egg blue and my favorite color of all time is RED.
I love adding solids! Amethyst is a current fave.
I have recently started using more solids in my quilts.I am still trying to get used to doing this but I do like the way they are looking. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway
wow I love your choices. Solids are great, but it is hard to match lines sometimes. I find that I have to ccordinate alot since I don’t trust ordering a matching color online and trust me Joannes color selection for solids stinks. I can coordinate online fairly easily. aThanks for the giveaway. Gray and turquoise are my favorite solids. Yellow has been popping up a lot in my stuff lately.
I just started quilting and would love to get me hands on some solids. I love the colours in this bundle!
I never used to use solids, and then I discovered the Kona range. I love how wonderfully they offset bright and bold patterns.
Thank you for running the giveaway!
I make fabric bags and I usually match a solid lining to a print exterior. I find it a lot harder to shop for solids than prints mostly because most fabric shops I’ve been to stock less good quality cotton solid.
I’d love to incorporate solids in my quilting. I just bought my first Kona last month but haven’t started the project yet.
I love solids and have only made one solids quilt. My first ever and then I found fabric patterns. May need to get back to solids.
I love kona sage! I always use some in my quilts.
I love solids, but I am not brave enough to use them as often as I would like!
I bought a Kona color card last year and it has helped me so much in picking out the right solids for a project. But I still want to get better at incorporating them in, as usually I buy way too many prints and then have nothing to complement them!
I’m a fairly new quilter and like you, really haven’t been using solids. I’d like to, though. Sometimes it just looks more “calming” to have some solids instead of all patterns. My fav. Kona solid color is a medium grey.
I love color in any shape or form–print or solid! I would love to win these…:)
I am starting to play with solids. So far just incorporating them into quilts along with prints. I used to be afraid of them too, but blogs like yours have helped me see their possibilities. I don’t have a favorite color, but right now I can’t get enough of the Moda Bella pistachio.
I love these solids…so pretty and vibrant…I definitely need to add solids to my stash…I have so many prints…thanks for the giveaway…
I love solids to balance out really fun busy prints.
I love Kona Caribbean.
I have to admit I am a print girl. But lately I’ve realized how much I am in need of some good solids. This would be a great start to my collection!
I am drawn to prints when I’m shopping, but to solids when I’m actually quilting or picking out a quilt design…so, basically I have to shop for solids whenever I need them because I never pick them up on impulse…I could use some solid stashing!!
I love solids, especially different shades of the same color all together… yum!
Hey! I was just trolling the internet for solid Kona fabric! I haven’t used solids much either. Thanks for suggesting site to buy from and for the chance to win some deliciously colored Kona solids!
I am really starting to get into solids too. So many ways to use them! Thanks!
I actually started my few little first ones with solids and one print, I was actually afraid of prints, but then I moved on with them. But now seen again all of this precious solid out there and I might start to go back to solids and just one print. Thanks for the chance.
Does using white count? I need to branch out more into colored solids.
I too am just starting to incorporate more solids into my quilts….love the colors in the fabric pack
thanks!!!
I normally use a bit of solids in every quilt, but I have never made a quilt just using solids. Your ‘kites’ quilt certainly has inspired me…I love it. My eye is drawn more toward bright colors as opposed to pastels. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I love solids- my favorites right now are Kona Snow and Ash… Thanks for the giveaway!
I love collecting solids, but find it challenging to use them . . . out of my comfort zone
Thanks for the chance!
I quite like solids, kona grass is a current fave.
I’m trying to use more solids to balance out a bunch of crazy prints
Favorite colors are orange, aqua and acid green!
i too love solids! i currently am making a quilt with only solids and it’s my first all solids quilt – i’m really loving how it’s coming together…there will be more in the future!!
Keeping a stack of solids inpires my color selection. This stack woudl be great to have in my collection. Thanks for your generosity. Love med grey and ash too!
My stash is sorely lacking in solids! I too have been all about the prints, but I want to try making more solid colored quilts. I’ve been seeing a lot of them in the blogs lately, especially in the range of aquas. I think that pack was called Poseidon. Anyway, no shopping in the foreseeable future, so I hope I win!
I’m just finishing up the top for my first solid quilt. I can definitely see the appeal, although I do love prints, too!
My stash is seriously lacking in solids, so lately I’ve been trying to pick some up here and there. I love the look that solids add to a quilt, so I really should use them more.
I’m glad you came around to solids. Your quilts always have a nice blend of color and scale, I’m sure the addition of solids has only made this better.
Yes, please, count me in!
I love solids! Kona solids are my favorite so far… it is very good quality. I’d love to make a quilt of basic bold colored solid blocks.
I love solids and although I haven’t done an all solid quilt yet would like to do one in all purples for my sister-in-law. I adore your kite quilt and I think any color looks wonderful with grey!
I’m just loving all the new solid colors….
And my sewing room is in desperate need of solids.
I’ve been starting to use solids more, but I would like to experiment a bit more with them.
I love solids!
Awesome giveaway! I am totally going to be perusing her shop right after this!
I’m getting into solids more and more. I started with a challenge mini and it was so fun that I started a bed size solid quilt.
Embracing solids more all the time. It’s hard to pass up a print for a solid, but when I see the final product, it’s fab!
MMM, these colors are as yummy as their names! I’d have to pick Mango as my current fav.
I never used solids in my quilts til I tried the P2 Modern Solids Quilt Along. I love the way it turned out, and so do my son and DD’s boyfriend. So I’m ready for more Kona solids adventures!
I think solids are something I’d like to use more of but as of yet I don’t have much of a stash
So far, I just purchase solids to coordinate with prints I already have. I’d love this to start up a stash of solids!
I love the vibrant colors of this bundle!! Inspiring!!
I love using solids but my LQS only recently starting carrying them, but only a handful of rather harmless ones. These ones look bright and tasty!
What fun colors. I’ve just started to build up my solids stash and these colors would be a nice addition. Thanks.
Solids make a great addition to a line of fabrics. Thanks for a chance to win!
I would never consider solids but the colors they are featuring now work in so nicely with prints in projects. Beginning to use them more and more.
I usually just get solids for sashings but have just started building a stash of them to use in other projects.
I love solids! I never used to, but they’re really growing on me. In fact, my quilting group is having a solids challenge next month. We each have to make something that uses only solids. My favorite color is Kona turquoise.
I just started working with solids and I’m loving it. Right now my favorite color is pomegranate.
I love solids…it’s easier for me to coordinate with them without feeling intimidated! (your prints always look so great together, but I start to feel overwhelmed with too many…)
I also never really used solids, but I have become more appreciative of their power recently.
Those are an amazing collection of colors. I love it. And I love using solids although many times I have to actually make myself include them. I’ve been thinking for awhile and planning a quilt with all solids
I really need some solids. And what lovely solids these are. And I just love the names of the colors: Papaya, Mango, Cerise, Lupine, Bahama Blue, and Pear. No wonder they’re so yummy!!!! Papa, Mango, Pear – foods!! Oh yeah!!!
Turquoise is my current favorite and I really do not like a quilt without solids even if it is just a bit of white!!
A packet of solids would be great, because I need a push to use more of them in my quilts. Lately I have been really loving purples!
I just started using solids recently, started off with the kona white mixed in with patterns, this little stash will help broaden my horizens
I love all colors too, but lately been drawn to shades of greens.
I’d love to do an all solid quilt but I need to expand my collection. Thanks for the giveaway.
I am in love with Kona solids and have made quilts with all solids. Now I want to try mixing solids and prints. I think this little stack of beauties is just the place to start.
Lovely colors! Shockingly, no solid colors in my stash. This will be great way to start the solids stash.
~~~ OH MY ~~~ What intense colors to inspire!! Thank you for the opportunity to share!!
I love solids. I couldn’t pick a favorite but I love bright colors so I think the ones in this bundle are fab.
Thanks to you and Canton Village Quilt Works for the opportunity to win some.
I’m in love with little embroidery lately (stuff like Wild Olive – wildolive.blogspot.com). And I totally want to start incorporating it into my quilts. It looks AMAZING on colorful cottons.
Always happy when my google reader tells me you have a new post. Thanks for the giveaway!
Love the solids. I’ve made some stripe quilts, inspired by you and your blog, and solids add a lot to that quilt design.
I.Love.Solids. Thanks for the giveaway, and all else that you do. xo
I have made quilts since the 80′s and have rarely used solids. I really NEED to start using them. Thanks for the giveaway!
Solids have started to appear in my stash at the moment mostly, white and cream. The colour that I want to play with is Kona Ash or maybe Coffee or Raisin or rich red, anyway you get the idea.
I’m plotting on a king sized, all solids quilt now. it’s in my queue…
I’m a beginner, and I can say that I am drawn to prints, but I LOVE the way solids look in the quilts I’ve seen them in.
Thank you for the giveaway!
Wow, your photos are so vivid. Up until now, I haven’t really used solids in my projects, but I’ve recently started adding a few colors to my stash. I’ve been making some clutches and sometimes I don’t have the perfect lining fabric, so I’m starting to use solids. And I think I like it. Oh-oh … that means I need to continue building my stash. Heh heh!
As a matter of fact, I just put Kona cotton in white on my fabric “to buy” list…I finally realized that most every quilt I’ve admired lately is sashed in, binded, backed and designed with SOLID WHITE fabric!!! Currently, I don’t have any quality solids in my stash, so I’m aiming to build it up over the summer while road tripping across country and shop hopping (my husband doesn’t know the shop hop agenda yet!
I love solids, but I never use them. Why, you ask? Because I’m not…how shall I say it?….Well, I’m not a perfectionist. And solids show all of my sewing, piecing, appliqueing imperfections. But I do love them — when I see them in a quilt, I think they always add such a glow to the overall look of the quilt. I guess I’ll keep trying to use solids, but I know myself….
I love solids and think an all solid quilt can be stunning. I’m glad quilters are starting to use more solids in their quilts.
I love solids, I find that they are a great place for the eye to rest when looking at a quilt with prints
I am a new quilter and have just been learning the power of solids. I can’t wait to do some solids in my new quilt. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I’ve just used solids for the first time in a quilting bee I’m in, and I love the effect! I think my favourite colour at the moment is grey, probably much like the charcoal Kona.
I have only played with white and recently bought some gray to extend my comfort zone ,if I win this there will be no more excuses ,you have inspired me so much .
I love solids in a quilt. Thay make everything pop!
I haven’t really used too many solids but I’ve been throwing the idea of doing a solid fabric quilt of different shade of some color, probably green. I love green!
I’ve just made two quilts so far and solids weren’t in either but I’m open to trying solids!
Love solids. Any blue or purple shade especially.
Leona
I’m planning on using a 4 inch square, a print then using a pleasing color of a plain fabric around it. I’ll need a lot of solids, should look sharp, I hope.
I like solids a lot, but they seem to get used up just about as fast they come into the house.
I’m a Visual Arts Teacher and “born again” quilter….a solids queen originally and then left the quilt world for a decade or more because I hated 90′s prints. No cutesy stuff for me. But I am back! Todays solids are amazing. I have 3 “solids” quilts on the go currently. Cant get enough of the amazing interchange of colour. My favourites are Kona and all praise to the Colour card that is available and businesses like Canton who offer small increments for purchase. Thankyou for the giveaway.
I haven’t used solids in a quilt but I have much admired the colours of them such as Kona Ash.
I love solids!!! I love them because prints on top of prints can sometime drowned out your favorite things you loved about the print to begin with, where if you pair it with solids it makes it pop and mean that much more!
I never used solids until I did a quilt along with a quilting blogger. Now I love them!
I am only beginning my quilting journey and because of this I only think how I could enhance my dream quilt projects with solids. I have made a few patchwork bags and only used prints in these. Thinking about those bags, perhaps a bit of solid would have broken the mayhem of the print. I can’t say I have a favourite colour but I guess it would depend on the colours in the prints as to what I would use as a solid to compliment or contrast. Thanks for the chance:)
So fun! I have made two quilts out of only solids. They were pretty basic, but I like them. I have another one on the agenda (once I finish hand binding the last one).
I have a lot more prints than solids. I’m like you, I used to be all print, but I’m getting to appreciate solids more.
I would love to win these! I have very few solids in my stash so far but I am realizing more and more how much they add to a quilt, and would love to expand my stash!
What a gorgeous colour range of Kona solids. I don’t have any solids in my stash. If I win, it will be the start to collect them.
I love solids in my quilts and often use them for binding or sashing. The ones you have listed are gorgeous though and would be a great addition to my stash. Thank you for offering this giveaway!
What a beautiful bundle of solids. Love solids and rarely make a quilt without them anymore….Several of my quilts are solids only! Love em.
I love solids!They always make me think of candy (like skittles & M&Ms) which put me in a good mood. They’re also really handy and I think they’re really adaptable for my projects!
Thank you for the give-away
I have used mostly prints in the past but I’ve seen so many quilts on blogs that use solids that I’ve become a fan of solids. I’ve been trying to collect a nice range of colors to work with and Jackie’s bundle is fantastic!
Loving the colors, they’d look great along the other fabrics we’ve chosen for our latest little bundle’s nursery!
Love solids….black and white are my favorites!
I love the colors and I am too new to quilting to have a fabric style
the solids are gorgeous – love all the shades of greens!
My favorite is usually the last one I used, and right now, that’s Kona Azure.
I’ve leaned toward prints over the years but with all the gorgeous solids out now I’m imagining quilting with solids – I just need the fabrics
. I love these!
When I work in solids, I tend to use all solids. My current favorite is Kona Cotton Asparagus.
This give-away selection would make a great tote bag for spring/summer!!
So generous of you both!!
Just recently started using solids. My favourite right now is Kona Stone.
I’m getting into solids more & more now, and especially like greys at the moment. Love this selection too – I could definitely think of some nice things to make up with it!
I’ve been using lots of solids lately. It’s a big deal since I shied away from them for the first few years I started quilting. Now my biggest issue is using them enough without over doing it. Total love now. Best usage is when I do some wonky quilting work. There’s always room for solids.
In a recent quilt I used a solid tangerine as a foil to the prints in a charm pack. Although i don’t think I’m brave enough to make an all solid quilt, I like to use them to highlight the prints. It would be nice to have this pretty array of colors in my stash. Thanks for the chance to win.
Would love to have some solids!!
I’m still attracted to prints, but I have been adding more solids to my stash. Someday I hope to make an Amish-inspired quilt using all solids. Would LOVE to win the bundle. Thanks for the giveaway.
LeAnn aka pasqueflower
I’m becoming a convert to solids! Thanks for the chance to add to my stash.
i have close to zero solids but have been hoping to add to my stash – thanks for the link to a place i can get some!
I love solids!
How beautiful that bright rainbow stash is on what is a very cold and grey day here!!
I’m still in the “only prints” stage but I’ve been looking at all of the quilts with solids and I think I need to use them more. Love, love those colors. Thanks for the chance to win and get started on a bright summer picnic quilt.
I am building my stash of solids because I have loved the solid color quilts I’ve been seeing. City Quilts totally put me over the top. Thanks for the chance!
Wow! I hope your random number generator uses numbers as big as this
I have only once used solids in a child’s quilt to frame some animal panels and it worked very well. In the future I’m planning an Amish style quilt and have already started to gather dark solids for it. I have also had my eyes set on an Ocean Wave pattern to make with light coloured solids, so that is where these will fit in … if I am the lucky one (fingers crossed!).
As to my favourite colour, as you say yourself, it changes regularly. About now I would say aubergine.
I love solids. I haven’t made anything with just solids, but it’s on my to-do list. My problem is that I love neutrals and tend to buy the same colors over and over, solid or print. My favorite solid is Kona Med Grey, it goes with all most everything
I am starting to use more and more solids. These are beautiful colors. My favorite changes by the minute. Thanks for the chance to win.
I’ve never used solids but I REALLY would love to. This pack of beauties would be a great place to start
I love all the solids quilts I’ve been seeing lately, I used a beautiful charcoal grey in a quilt top I am almost finished, I didn’t have a lot of it, so I had to get creative in how I used what pieces I had. I’m very pleased with it. So charcoal is definitely a favorite, goes well with scrappy fabrics. I would love the chance to make more favorite solids! I will definitely be using more in the future, too!
Like the others, I am not currently using solids but will begin once I win your fabulous prize! Thanks for the opportunity.
I’ve just started using Kona solids for quilting, they make a noticeable difference! Love ‘em!
I hardly ever use solids except for backgrounds. I would love to make an all solid quilt but just haven’t been inspired enough yet. Love what i see others doing!
I use kona snow a lot! I so like mixing up the solids, but have yet to make an all solids quilt. I do want to try that after my summer UFO piecing list is done.
i agree – solids are an important part of a quilt. they help the prints stand out. max is too cute, by the way.
I don’t use solids, but after seeing your kite quilt I would like to give it a try. Thanks for the giveaway. -Sarah
These colors are great! They remind me of jelly beans.
I mostly buy prints, but I need to build up a stash of solids. There are so many pretty quilt patterns with solid sashing.
Solids are excellent. As a landscape painter I am always aware of color – and there is something about using solids in a quilt. The end result feels entirely created by you!
I love solids! I think papaya is my favorite color but I buy snow and gray most often. Thanks for a chance to win.
oh I love me some prints! But there is something refreshing about solids in a quilt. Less busy. Thanks for the giveaway.
I peaked at her shop. Very nice fabrics. I am loving solids. I am in the solid fat quarter club at Pink Chalk and I have a nice variety. I could also use more. You can never have enough solids.
Solids are great! The right one can compliment my favorite pattern and just make it pop.
I love adding solids to my quilts. it adds just the right touch to them. thanks for the opportunity.
I’m liking solids more and more. I absolutely lack it in my stock, so I would love to win. My favorite colours now are grey and turquoize. Eva-Marie
I do try to use solids in my quilts – I’m getting better at it, I’d say
Currently, Kona Coal is probably my favorite right color right now, its just so versatile!
I’ve recently discovered how amazing solids are. They really do help some quilts come together. I really want to build up my solid stash.
I’ve been noticing more and more quilts made with solids and I love them! I’m a gray kind of girl, but lately teal has really been catching my eye…
I just started a new design for a quilt and I need some solids to complement my pattern. Perfect timing!
LOVE these colors! They scream summer has arrived! These would be great for my daughter’s going away quilt!
I love solids. thanks for the giveaway
I love solids too – just don’t have many right now. My favorite color is anything purple!
I can alwasy use more solids – especially in these bright colors. Thanks for the opportunity.
Wendy
I think my favorite color is kona peacock. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love some solids. My favorite colors are ANY shade of green!
I am loving the bahama blue and I really haven’t used solids I am a beginner.
Love the bright vivid solids~would love to add the to my fabric stash
I love solids! They ground every quilt when you use them, and they show off the others with designs! I have yet to make a solids quilt…but this would be a wonderful start if I won! Kona is the best out there! Thank you Ashley for the cool giveaway!
oh, and little Max is too cute! I love it when you post pics of him!!!
I have never done an all solid quilt! I love solids in my quilts though! And those are some gorgeous colors!
I too never touched a solid until the “modern” quilting movement became so popular. Who’d have thought!! Now nothing is made without a solid. It’s a nice break for the eyes. Kona is the best – without a doubt. My favorite is Kona Pond – so perfect…
Solids are what I find most fun. You can create your own patterns, spectrums, and textures!
I would love to try those Kona solids in a quilt. Our local quilt shop is more 30s/Civil War reproduction oriented (which I love, too), and I’m ready for a new adventure. Thanks, Anita Johnson
Your little guy is the CUTEST thing every!!!!
I’m still not that into solids, although I’m begrudgingly admitting that they are useful in many projects.
I really love solids. My most recent favorite colors of Kona are Curry and Caramel and Pomegranate. And yes, Jackie does have some great colors and pricing on her solids!
I am new to sewing and only have a few fabrics. They all have patterns and I really would like to add solids.
I used to think solids were too boring and I avoided them in favor of “near-solids,” quiet prints with two shades of the same color. But I read somewhere – on a blog, probably – that if you think your quilts are looking too busy, you should add a few solids to the mix. Good advice! Thanks for the chance to win.
Love solids but don’t have a lot of them. Would love a few.
I am learning to use solids in my quilts. My current favorite is Kona White – boring, I know! But I am branching out now that I have my Kona color card.
I LOVE prints, but I’m trying to incorporate more solids here and there. I love just about any shade of blue, teal, or green.
I haven’t used many solids in quilts, but I always like the look of them mixed with prints – and love your Kites in the Clouds! I have used some in patchwork pillows and other projects…Kona Peridot and Tarragon seem to make repeat appearances in those projects.
Oh, I would love to start a solids stash! I think the only solid in my stash is white and there’s always room for color!
I love bright colors, and Kona solids feed that love. My favorite right now, I think, is Chartreuse. This is not to say that I don’t love prints. But with solids, all you have to worry about it the colors going well together.
I have come to love solids – thanks to blogs like yours that show the potential and creativity with solids! Mango really caught my eye in the CVW bundle. Thanks so much!
I LOVED solids!! Lately I’m leaning towards bright magentas and always a good stand by is purple and I love working with new colors that I normally wouldn’t pick, it’s a great challenge!
These colors are awesome! So bright and cheery and would really stand out in a quilt!
I love Kona coal – it is such a rich color and makes other brights really pop!
I don’t use solids yet, but I have been buying some in various colours. I want to start using them! Great giveaway!
I use solids occaisionally, but would like to use them more. I use them with prints, not whole solids. Thanks for the giveaway!
I have always liked bright prints/stripes/polka dots best! However, seeing all of the lovely quilts on blogs that are made with solids makes me want to made a quilt with only solids! Thanks for the chance to win!
I mostly use solids as linings for the bags I make, but I’m thinking of making my first quilt and will definitely be using solids in the quilt top!
I really love using solids when I get the chance to buy some, I think they really tie all prints together and make it cohesive! Haven’t really used many solids but from what I have seen they can make things really pop! Thanks for the chance!
I love throwing solids in as well – esp when they add an unexpected pop of color!
I am trying to get into using solids more. I love grey and yellow together!
Right now, I’m loving Kona’s Glacier – so strong and such a great, rich color! THanks for the chance to have some of this great fabric!
I plan on quilting tomorrow on my birthday. How I use solids is to add either the look of isolation of prints or to add folds and create texture with solid colors. I’ve been a crazy quilter for several decades and often put a slice of solid into a crazy block to add the surprise of a splash of color.
my blog post of bay Calm-Purple is an example of isolation of prints with solids. Love your blog.
http://www.goodearthquilting.blogspot.com/
It’s too hard to pick just one color! Thanks for the giveaway!
I haven’t been doing too much with solids lately. But, I love how a solid can bring several prints together or make a certain print stand out. So much fun to work with solids. I don’t really have a favorite, but I’ve been using grays and whites lately…summer color would be wonderful! Thanks for the chance!
I love how solids can give a busy quilt a place for the eye/brain to ‘rest.’ The solids that are available to us these days is astounding!
I just got some fabrics for my birthday! Those prints would combine great with your solids. Thank you so much for your giveaway. My favorite colors are orange and lime. I’m thinking about making a boy quilt, with orange and lime and some of the birthday fabrics and some carprints.
This is such a yummy group of colors! Looks just like candy. Thanks for counting me in, Ashley.
I have just started to collect solids and I really like the way they look in a “Liberated style” quilts! I just love Kona’s ARTICOKE-my fave!! Thanks for the give away and you are right Max does continue to become cuter by the day!!!!
I love the way solids can showcase printed fabrics but I like to use them alone in modern quilt designs too.
I’m new to sewing and quilting and just beginning to build my ‘stash’. I must say the prints draw my eyes but love the saturated solids as well.
I have been having a love affair with solids for almost a year now. I got some Kona Papaya a few months ago and need some more, it’s gorgeous. And thanks for pointing out the kona raisin, I think I’ll have to try some of that!
My best color is red.
Thanks for the chance to win this giveaway
There really is nothing better than Kona solids! I am not sure I could pick a favorite color!
I like brown colours, thaks for the chance!
I have just started collecting solids. I have very few in my vast collection of fabrics.
I too was all about prints, but have found that solids can really anchor the quilt. Next project… All solids!
I love solids and am working on an all-solids quilt
Thanks for the great giveaway!!
My first quilt, which is still in cutting phase, has quite a lot of vintage sheeting in it. At first I thought I’d use only prints but have come to realize that dash of solids here and there would make the prints stand-out more. So right now, I’m all for adding solids to quilts. However, I’m not too keen on having all solid quilt.
Funny that you should mention solids…I’ve been thinking about doing a quilt using nothing but solids. I LOVE Kona and use white for a lot of my quilts. My LQS doesn’t carry much Kona (mostly Moda fabrics) and Joann’s has a few colors but I’ve been going to search on the web for more colors (and good prices!). Thanks for mentioning Canton Village. I have them bookmarked so I’ll check it out.
My bedroom is an olive green (my DH calls it split-pea green…LOL) and I was thinking that I’d like something to contrast with it. I love the raisin, too. It might be nice with a few prints. Thanks for the inspiration
I love solids in quilts ~ love prints, too. Variety! It’s the spice of life!
I love the colors in this bundle of Kona solids.
Count me in!
As much as I like red, in my quilt world I go straight to aqua. So refreshing.
I love solids. My favorite quilts lately are all solid modern quilts.
I’ve been doing more sewing with solids lately. My daughter has just requested Julie Herman’s Rasberry Dessert pattern that was done in pink solids. I think that when designers use them, they show us the possibilities and get us interested. Kathie L in Allentown
I love adding solids. I don’t really have a favorite, but I love aquas, greens and grays.
I am just starting to try out solids in my quilts but I am loving it so far
I hardly ever use solids… but now I’m thinking I really should! Max is a cutiepie!
Love these colors! So bright and cheery!
Those colors are absolutely delicious!!! I would love to win and make something out of these colors.
aI am starting to use solids in my quilts and I am really loving the solids.
I only have a bit of experience with quilting with solids. I’m using them now in my Paintbox Quilt (from Oh Fransson). My favorite solid for the moment is aqua.
I love these colors my fav is purple!!
I would really like to use some solids – I just got the Kona Poseiden stack for a swap – but I am afraid to cut into it, like it’s missing…a print? Hmmm. I hope some inspiration comes my way by reading some of your comments. I would love to win some to start making a collection. Thank you for the chance!
I am totally a sucker for cute prints (shiny! cute! colorful!) but I do love all the different hues that solids can come in. I need to work more with solids and not rely so much on prints to carry the quilt.
I use Kona solids in almost every quilt I make. My brain needs a place to rest from the busy prints. My favorite shade at the moment is azure.
I do like adding solids to a quilt but just recently started doing so when my baby boy was born. I found that I was drawn more toward solids when sewing for him- didn’t want quite so many prints. Now that I’ve started using them, I need to branch out and start adding to my stash!! As far as a favorite color- anything purple!!! Thanks for a great give away!!
Solids are growing on me. I love several of the kona’s, honeydew is one. Hannah
I do love solids! These are such beautiful, clear colors. And I love that solids, which are less expensive, can really help stretch a quilting budget especially as cotton prices are increasing. I don’t have much of a stash of solids yet, but Kona Coal is a go-to favorite. I would love to win these!
My solid stash is definitely lacking…I would love to win.
I cannot believe your little guy is ten weeks old already, I LOVE his dark thick hair.
Gotta to have some solids, they are great to bring out individual colours in the prints. Love the Kona coal and papaya.
I have been admiring the solids quilts I have been seeing on the internet. Just today I bought Kona solid white, khaki, light pink,light blue and light green. I do not know the official names of the colors because they were all remnants. (I found out they were Kona when the description printed out on the sales slip!)I am getting good at identifying this fabric because of the lovely hand and the beautiful colors. I would love to try the grey shades with green or orange.
I love solids. In fact, I’m way more comfortable with solids than I am with combining prints….
Kona Ash and Kona Coal are my favorite because they make other colors pop so much.
My favorite right now is any shade of gray.
I started using solids in my quilts after seeing some of the quilts on Flickr. I adore them now & can’t get enough. My favorite shade was Kona cerise for a very long time but now… well, that spot is open
I had only ever used white solid before, but since I started reading your blog, I’ve been inspired to try more solids (I have gotten 3 colors so far, with 3 more on the way) – so thank you for inspiring me!!
I have so many prints I hardly know what to do with them anymore! I don’t spend enough time sewing:( I would LOVE some solids to go with them! THANK YOU!!
LOVE all the colors in that yummy bundle!! Hope luck is with me for the win! >^..^<
I love the look of solids in a quilt.
I have been wanting to make an all solid quilt for a while now, this would be a great start! Typically I use solids for binding/backing, and sometimes I mix them with my prints… but mostly I’m a prints gal
Keep those gorgeous baby pics coming!
I’m just making my first solids quilt at the moment, also my first improvisational one, inspired by the colours of gum trees here in Australia- so many shades in the bark and leaves! I”m using 53 different kona solids. Fun!
I’ve gone to the quilt shop with every intention of buying solids SO many times and every single time the pretty colored prints draw my attention away and I buy no solids. Every single time! I’ve been seeing so many beautiful quilts and so many do have solids within those quilts so I have decided to make a promise to myself that I will buy solids more than prints for awhile.
Thank you for such a great giveaway
I haven;t used too many solids other than white or off white, but i’m really getting interested in trying it. your baby is adorable. how sweet is that picture. thanks.
Some day I want to a quilt in ALL solids…someday. Mean time I use them intermixed with patterns. Can’t say I have a favorite color. Depends on the day and the quilt. : ) Thanks for the chance to win!
Thanks to you and cvq for the lovely giveaway. I’m just starting to use more solids in my quilts. I’ve graduated from one solid to 3 or 4 intermixed with prints. This is a perfect giveaway for me to win as just picked out a pattern named Almost Solids (it has a narrow stripe border) by Kaye England that I would like to make. A modern set of colors would be wonderful for this little quilt.
I have recently made a queen size all solids quilt in a plus/cross repeating pattern, I love it so much that I plan on making more solid quilts.
I love solid, and I’m planing to do rainbow quilt with solid.
Love to use solids if they are nice and smooth.
I love those bright colors. I do like quilts with solids. Thank you so for the giveaway.
I love that there are so many different solids and that each brand or type or texture lends different meaning to a project. A favorite? I’m sweet on the Kona Papaya these days.
I only really use solids in combination with prints.
My go-to colour is a dusty apple green – a fabric that I buy over and over from one of the large fabric chain stores here in Australia.
I’m a huge fan of Kona Coal. It seems to go with everything!
I’m a print gal too mostly – but am learning how much solids can add!
I love any shade of green. I have a great quilt my Mom started with mostly solids for the ’60′s. Someday I will finish.
Thanks for the giveaway. I love using solid colors, and my favorite would be any shade of purple!
I have always loved using solids in my quilts. I have only recently discovered Kona solids and love them! I mailed ordered as you can not find them here in Oman! I am so loving so many of the colors according to my little sample book and would love to own more! Thank you for the chance!
I love solids! I think they are great alone, and they set off prints really nicely. I’ve never actually used Kona fabric, so I’m kind of curious what’s so fantastic about it.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I love solids.Love to mix match them with other prints.I think they make every color standout.
I don’t use many solids but would love to do an Amish style quilt with just solids. Thanks for posting
I love adding solids to quilts to break things up a bit but I really must try to do a majority solids quilt soon. My favourite colour is green but I don’t actually quilt with it that much.
I love the way solids look mixed with prints!
I have not yet had the chance to use solids. However I love the look and see a lot of it in my future projects
Hi I don’t have a single solid, they aren’t sold in Sweden so I need to order them online and that means not being able to see and feel them. So I put of bying them. That pack would be great, my absolute favourite colours.
I love solids. For the most part I’ve always added them to ‘tone’ down all the prints, but I really like the look of the all-solid quilts. One is definitely in my future.
Why I love solids… let me count the ways!
First off, I love the rainbow of solids I used in my sister’s double wedding ring quilt that I made three years ago, which is well loved and well used.
Solids grab the eye, they are not super bold, just enough to say “here I am” and lead you thru a quilt.
I still love the DWR quilt I made my sister and a pack of solids will go a long way to making another one
Thanks for the give away!
Thanks for the chance to win! I see solids as just as important as prints. These colors are so pretty!
I have the fabrics for a solid quilt just waiting for me to get started.
I have a pattern that I’m collecting solids for. I reckon it might take me a year to collect all of the color variations I’ll need! Thanks for the chance to win some delicious Kona solids!
When I first started quilting, I got lots of advice from quilting books. They said not to use solids because the prints hide mistakes better. So I used prints, and never used solids. Now I have seen so many beautiful quilts with solids that I am thinking about braving the fact that my mistakes will show. I have very few solids in my stash.
I’m in love with the Kona greens and blues but yet haven’t yet worked with any solids. Way to start?
I love solids and seem to always gravitate toward greens and yellows or yellow/oranges.
I too love lots of color. Maybe greens are my favorites. Solids can bring out the prints to their best.
I am new to quilting and have never used Kona fabrics. I think solids make the prints “pop”. I would love to be the lucky recipient of these fabrics!
I’m just starting to collect solids and hope to make a quilt (king size…ugh!!!) completely out of solids. My favorites at the moment are blues and greens.
Love me some solids! I am finding them so easy to use and love working with them. Thanks to Jackie and to Film in the Fridge!
Gayle
My stash is mostly patterns, too, and now I’m realizing that solids are so essential for a modern design. Unfortunately our local fabric shops don’t carry many solids at all!
Haven’t used many solids. These are lovely.
I’m pretty new to quilting and so far have only mixed one solid at a time into multiple patterns. I really like the look of all solids though!
I’ve been a bit obsessed with solids recently and have been trying to collect a bundle. I love the idea of almost all solids with a print or two thrown in for interest…my current favourite is charcoal gray.
I never ever even thought of using solids until our guild had a challenge. As a beginner, I am just so open to all sorts of ideas and techniques. Looove those colours. Thanks for the chance to win such a yummy palate.
Oh, so pretty. I love adding a touch of solids but can never find the prefect shades in the colors I want at the time. Maybe I’m looking in all the wrong places. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
I love solids and I am always on the look out for them. This stack would fit right in with my fabric stash. Thanks for the chance to win. AJ – queenofmynest(at)gmail(dot)com
Back in the 90s I lived 15 minutes from Amish country in Pennsylvania and took classes on how to use solids. I used them a lot back then and can make a wicked Amish style quilt, all solids, and have made many. I kind of drifted away from them as they were never really popular but I am seeing a wave of people using them recently.
I do love solids. But I just want to say you take the most beautiful pictures of Max. ^_^
Kites in the clouds is a really fantastic quilt! I love it. For me, solids have been a late to the game thing. I started sewing again for all the fun prints out there, but as I have been quilting more and more the solids are really starting to gain popularity in my head
And hello from South Burlington! I wonder if we’re neighbors… I’m in the Laurel Hill neighborhood – we should get together to sew sometime?
I love this fresh looking solids and I really like your kite quilt.
Thanks, Kelly
Beautiful solids!
I really enjoy using solids in my quilts. Sometimes they give you just the “pop” you need. Keep the pictures of the baby coming! He is such a cutie.
I like solids but I seem to not use them as much as I could, it usually ends up being a tone on tone type of thing. Anyway, I love blue any shade of blue.
I’v been seeing a lot of solids lately and I’ve always thought of them as accents, but I’d like to do a solids quilt.
My current fav is Kona celery. It’s a great neutral that seems to go with everything. And I agree about the pics of MAx. What a doll!
I love using solids in quilts. My favorite is Kona bone, but I love using red too. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love solids – it’s like a hit of pure colour, and it can make such an impact. My current favourite is eggplant, but the favourite seems to change on a regular basis! Last week it was buttercup!!
Love the colours in your picture, thanks for the giveaway.
I love using solids! I love bright colors like yellow and orange.
I never really thought about solids as the main part of a quilt until I saw some of your masterpieces (shameless praise, yes). I really like the way solids accent the minimally patterned fabrics in your quilts. Solids are da bomb!
I use mostly prints. but I’m starting to get into solids.
I love solids and am hoping to do a project with mainly solids soon.
I haven’t used solids entirely for a quilt yet. It is on my list to do though with all these great patterns coming out.
