Thank you for all the sweet comments on my last quilt… or, actually, thank you for all your great comments on all my quilts! I love hearing from you, and while I typically don’t have the time to respond to everyone, please know that I read and enjoy each and every one!
And now I think a little giveaway is in order. I’ve missed a few recent milestones – 200 posts (about 45 posts ago), and also 1 year of blogging – that came and went back in early June… so it’s high time! I’ve already done this giveaway once before, but I know there are a lot of people looking for this fabric so I’m going ahead with it again (sorry for the lack of originality!)

Up for grabs today – 2 fat quarters of Heather Ross’s VW fabric. It’s so adorable! And even if you don’t sew, it’s pretty cute to just look at!
Please just leave a comment on this post to be entered… it doesn’t have to be anything specific, but maybe something a little more than just ‘please enter me’Â
I enjoy hearing from you… so maybe tell me what you’re working on, or tell me about a project that you have in mind but that you haven’t had time to start yet (I have a ton of those!), or anything really! I’ll pick a winner on Thursday morning.
Edit: Comments are now closed. I’ll pick a winner shortly!
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8…9 patch!
a giveaway winner, and some works in progress…

I’ve enjoyed looking at your quilts as I’ve started quilting myself. Always looking for fun fabrics and these are definitely fun!!
YOu are SUCH an inspiration! I can’t stop looking at your finished quilts and deciding which one to make next! (I already made a quilt-top in blue with the FUSCHIA SEAS blocks) – thanks for all the fun stuff you bring to this blog and for all the great ideas!
Dianne in UT
I’m working on a black, white and red string quilt for my daughter. But right now I’m baby sitting my granddaughter. I should really be doing something with her instead of reading quilt blogs!
Thanks for the great giveaway!!
Thank YOU, Ashley, for showing us all of your inspiring quilts! My big summer project was going to be a queen size quilt, made with yellows and white, but the summer flew by so I guess it’s going to be a late summer/ early fall project. The little extra you included in our swap (from the flickr swappy group) is going in it too- yellow pez! Now to find some time…
I think your quilting is so very inspiring.
Would love to win the vw fabric! I am presently working on at least 10 quilts at the moment! Most are pieced and ready to be quilted, but, hey, I think I could come up with something really cute using this fabric!
I enjoy reading your blog and seeing all of your quilts so much. Right now I am trying to figure out what to do with my anna maria horner good folks Fq set
I ran across across your blog and Kaleidoscope quilt some months ago. That string quilt inspired me to start quilting. Mind you I didn’t even own a sewing machine. So, here I am a few months later, paper piecing a string quilt. I visit periodically to look at your latest works! All are beautiful!
Cute fabrics! I’ve been bitten by the striped shirt quilts bug and am collecting shirts.
I love the 9 patch! I really like the dark grey back with the white contrast with blocks that go all the way around the border. Your picture made me laugh with the chair groaning under the weight of all the quilts!
Like you I also have many projects waiting patiently to be completed. So many ideas and not enough time. Thank you for your inspirational pictures of quilts finished and works in progress.
Count me in – this is one of my faves by Heather Ross! Thanks for your blogs – your quilts are so fun and truly inspiring. I learn so much by viewing your site!
your blog is such an inspiration. I lovvve the vans fabric. I have several projects lined up.. next on my list is an quilt for my daughters birthday in october her favorite color is orange so something orange for sure
I hold you personally responsible for doubling my list of “quilts I’d like to make someday!” I just finished making all the blocks for a string quilt so hopefully, I’ll get them assembled into a top this weekend. Thanks for the giveaway. I don’t have a single piece of Heather Ross in my stash (I know!) so I’ve got my fingers crossed!
Cute fabrics! All of your quilts are gorgeous and make me jealous that I don’t have piles and piles of fabric to pick from…maybe one day!
Your quilts are inspirational. I’m glad you’ve opened a shop. Thank you for sharing your quilting adventures with us!
Eek, those are so cute! I’m working on a few projects right now. Block-a-day, String Quilt, Quartered Bento Box like your tutorial using Mendocino, MoMo Wonderland quilt for my sister’s birthday….the list goes on! LOL I love your site and it’s really motivated me to make some fun stuff!
I love your quilts, color choices, and patterns! They are so fresh and unique. FilmInTheFridge is my very favorite blog. I am trying to learn to choose fabrics like yours but I don’t seem to have an eye for it. I’ll keep trying. Thanks for letting us know the designers! Barbara
Thank you for offering up such amazing fabric! I’ve just started collecting more Heather Ross prints so those would be a great addition
! Project-wise, I’m currently obsessed with Posie gets Cozy’s Summerhouse Pillow pattern. I would totally recommend it!
heather ross is the best, isn’t it? right now I’m working on a quilt for my baby boy due in three weeks! well, I’m only at the fabric selecting phase so I’m not that optimistic that it will be finished before he arrives
Hi, I truly love all your quilts. I check in daily to see if you’ve made something new (most days you have, which is mind boggling to me). Currently, I am working on a kaleidoscope string quilt for my first niece or nephew based on your tutorial. And I have several other projects in mind based on a lot of your designs! Thanks for all the inspiration!
i’m working on dqs, and i would love to be entered in your giveaway!
I’m currently working on a zig zag quilt and it’s going rather slowly. If I ever do finish it ( or decide to give up on it) next up I may try a whirlygig quilt. I really enjoy reading your blog. I’ve been inspired by your vibrant quilts and especially your quilt backs. I love that you put so much thought into designing a backing.
I used to think quilting was just something my grandmother did, but not anymore! I really love your quilts. They’re always fun and funky … so cute. I even have your site bookmarked so I can check every day to see if you have something new. Thank you for all of the wonderful ideas! I’m curious about how you get all those great fabrics. Do you just buy a bulk of it and hope to find something to make it with? Do you usually shop at a store or online? btw – love the VW fabric!
Wow, this fabric is amazing! Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m hoping to make up a wrap skirt from Weekend Sewing this week, although with fall approaching, my mind is already turning to what I need to make for Christmas gifts this year.
Well, I have eight or nine “needing quilting” quilts sitting here making me feel guilty on a regular basis. Then I read your blog and get inspired to do something new! Such a dilemma.
i really enjoy browsing your blog! the fabric you use is always great! i have done little sewing projects here and there but have yet to do anything too large. i have some fabric to start a quilt for my daughter. guess i just need to take the plunge! thanks for the inspiration!
This fabric is great and hard to find so I’m pretty excited. I just saw a fabric banner that I am dying to make, so that might be my next endevor. But really I should finish some other projects first. Thanks for the giveaway.
love these!!! I’m working on a whole slew of tote bags… with 3 quilts just sitting there, looking at me, waiting…
I love your quilts; the color combos you use are so vibrant! I am currently trying to get myself in gear to finish my 9-patch quilt. I chose to work with a batik jelly roll I had and some white on white fabric from my stash. It seemed like a good idea at the time (use what you have…), but I’m less than loving it so I’ve lost steam. However, I promised myself no more UFOs, so I HAVE to finish it.
I have been really wanting to start a hexagon quilt ever since you posted photos of your far far away quilt. So so cute, and I love that they just flow through the quilt
I enjoy checking in on your blog to see what creative things you have come up with. Thank you.
Your blog, along with Oh Fransson and Red Pepper Quilts, has inspired me to try quilting on my home sewing machine–something I had assumed wasn’t a reasonable idea. I’d be interested in seeing a post from you on what quilt sizes are how easy or hard to do on a home machine. Oh, and also being entered in the giveaway
fun fabric! I’ve yet to own any Heather Ross. Right now I’m trying to decide what pattern to use for a new bed quilt in our bedroom. I plan to redecorate it with new colors.
you are so inspiring! i have just started on my first quilt using your kaleidoscope tutorial… 7 blocks in and i am loving it.. (and i think my husband is loving that i am using all my scraps that are stashed around the house in little bags!) i would love to win the vw fabric! thanks for the great giveaway!
Your quilts are gorgeous and I love this fabric!
I’m going to make a 9 patch shower curtain (based on your quilt). Your quilts are so simple and your color choices are great.
I am actually starting on some Christmas gifts! This is early for me. One is going to be a B&W String quilt. Would love to know what fabric you used on the back of Cookies & Cream. And, thanks for taking the time to blog – it does motivate some of us
It amazes me how many quilts you produce! It inspires me to make more time for quilting (actually sewing, not just dreaming about it). I have lots of ideas floating around in my head and written down on paper. I’m currently working on a quilt for my mom with blowsy roses in pinks, creams and green, blues. It looks really scrappy and a diamond pattern emerges. With the leftover scraps I want to make a modern looking stacked coins quilt. Getting lots of ideas from Flickr.
I love that fabric. I found your blog several months ago, and as a new quilter it is a great source of inspiration for me. Thanks for all the great pics.
i literally just found your blog yesterday and subscribed straight away. love it. i’m new to quilting too and am looking forward to reading your archives.
I have loved this fabric from the first time I saw it! When I was little, we went camping every weekend…and this year we have tried to take our three boys to the lakes as much as possible. Just seeing the images on the fabric brings back happy memories for me…so thanks for the smile! God Bless.
I have you to thank for my recent obsession with Heather Ross fabrics. I purchased one of your scrap bags and the pieces of fabric that I received look and feel so beautiful I am looking at what prints are available to purchase. I am yet to actually make a quilt as I have all the tools but am a bit nervous to actually start one….I just hope that I can make a quilt even half as beautiful as your quilts.
this year has definitely been a “quilting year” for me! not to the extent that you have produced, though!! i’ve made only made 5! i have a few in mind, but i’m mostly obsessed with gathering fabrics for christmas-i have already have the fabric for two couch quilts, some for my son, and a new line just came out that will be perfect for my daughter! i also have stuff to make one that would be good for a gift! So, i’m trying to plan for all of those. i guess i also need to think about doing a couple fall quilts! Plus, my husband wants a new one…that one will be challenging to make (very NON girly. he wants all solid colors). Whew! Good thing school starts soon
I am so in awe of all your gorgeous quilts. I adore your sense of style and use of colors/fabrics. You inspire me to take a class, but even then I’m not sure I have the patience.
I can not get over how quickly you can produce them. Do you have some little gnomes, or, you know, child labor in the basement somewhere??
I came across your blog the other day and fell in LOVE with all of your quilts. I don’t know how you find enough time throughout the day to finish all that you have. You are seriously amazing! I am dying to try your paper pieced string quilt!
I have 4 toddler quilts that I have been meaning to make but have put off for awhile now. They are all The Very Hungry Caterpillar fabric. I will include the book with each quilt. As soon as Sept hits I’m going to get started!
I always look forward to seeing what you have created! Thanks for the inspiration and keep it up!
Thanks so much for having such a wonderful blog! I found your blog early this summer, and I was so excited when you replied to my email about binding! And! I’ve started a teeny tiny little blog too, thanks to you and the amazing world of quilting bloggers. My sister knits and I like quilting, so we’ve started our own: http://www.quiltsandqualms.blogspot.com. I’m looking forward to logging my projects, and maybe I can join a virtual sewing bee sometime! Thanks for your inspiration!
I am a huge fan of your beautiful work and also a huge fan of this fabric! Thanks for being so inspirational to all of us
Yesterday I finished putting the binding on a half hexagon quilt + two matching pillowcases for my daughter — using primarily Amy Butler fabrics with a Kaffe Fassett fabric for backing. Of course today — throw pillows!
I LOVE the VW fabric. I first saw it on Aneela’s blog (comfortstiching), and she has used tiny bits of it in soooo many projects! Yes — it is even fun just to look at!
I always love your posts, you have an excellent eye for color and design. I wish I could be anywhere near as prolific as you! Thanks for sharing with us all this time, and congratulations on your anniversary!
Your work is such an inspiration to me. I am new to quilting and enjoying it so much. I would absolutely love to win the above fabric. I have been collecting Heather Ross prints for a quilt for my son. The blue busses are adorable. Thank again for sharing your lovely work.
My project list is OUT OF CONTROL. I never get caught up. Anyway, right now I’m putting the binding on a baby quilt. Its the Animal Junction quilt by Amy Schimler. Very cute fabric in that one. I’ve got lots of Christmas presents to make and would like to make a fall bag for myself. My brother-in-law just asked me to make him some beanbags for a cornhole game. That will be quick and easy so I may knock that out next just for the satisfaction of marking it off the list.
I love reading your blog! always such great inspiration!
We had a blue and whiite VW van when I was in 1st grade – many many many moons ago! I still remember the day my parents showed up to pick me up from daycare with the new van!
It’s amazing how you get so much sewing done–what’s your secret? Right now I’m testing different patterns for various Christmas gifts I plan to make. I have several quilting projects in the works and one of them just happens to be a Heather Ross-themed quilt! It was difficult to cut into my stash but I decided to take the plunge and enjoy my fabric in completed projects. I JUST started collecting her fabric so I’ve missed a lot of great stuff but winning your giveaway would be awesome! Thanks for the inspiring ideas!
Ha, I just told my husband a few days back how much I loved this fabric. I loooooooooooove VW bugs and vans. My dad used to race VW bugs in Germany way back when and can remember that we always had a VW in our driveway. I even remember ready his Hot VW magazines. *giggle*
I love your quilts. Love the design and colors. But, I would love to see how you bind them. I am fairly new to quilting and have just figured out how to bind after a light-bulb moment. Seriously.
I am working on a purse, a new tote bag and have several quilts in progress [a pink/neutral coin quilt, a strip quilt and a hodge-podge quilt]. I just finished a pot holder — in which I had that light-bulb moment when things finally clicked with the binding.
Your quilts inspired me to make my first quilt – for my daughter. I’ve got the top and back pieced, and now I’m finishing the binding on a mini practice quilt before basting the large one.
Thanks for such beautiful inspiration.
Your working is incredibly inspirational. I enjoy perusing your finished project list for ideas. I don’t have much time to sew these days but do intend to get back at it and there is a new baby in our circle that could use a gift or two and the VW fq’s certainly could be used for that.
Keep up the good work!!!!
You are my inspiration!
I am fairly new to quilting It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. But sometimes it’s a little intimidating to get going. Finding your blog has been so inspiring! Your quilts are pieces of Art!!! and you have given me a new outlook to the possibilities of quilting. Thank you so much!!
I love seeing all your quilts – and you post often so you’re fun to follow! I am currently making an hourglass quilt and a zigzag quilt. And I LOVE those giveaway fabrics! Thanks for the chance!
I recently started a new job that allows me some free evenings once again. Finally, I started to complete some of my unfinished projects, and I’ve already come up with about 10 others I want to start. I’ve really enjoyed browsing your blog. I love the style of your quilts!
I love seeing all of your finished projects, so inspiring!
Thank you for the inspiration! I’m currently working on a pray shawl quilt and have about 73 other projects calling my name – some started, some just a twinkle in my eye!
As an aspiring quilter, your quilts are so inspirational and beautiful to behold.
I made my first quilt last year and look forward to making more (not sure it will be anytime soon though). I love seeing other peoples’ quilts come together – it’s fun to read your blog.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Ooo Ooo Ooo campers!!! How did you guess that we spent Sunday at a VW show cooing over campers – it was our dream the get one when we had kids… at this rate the kids will have left home before we can get one, but there will be quilts inside it!!
I love your blog & your quilts just get better & better!
I haven’t seen anything like Heather Ross fabric at my local quilt shops. If it wasn’t for blogs like your I wouldn’t be aware of so much in the sewing world. Yay for the internet!
I’m completing two string quilts and then I’m up for a new project. Maybe this fabric will inspire me!
I love seeing your work, you complete so many so frequently! I love it! I am especially loving the “boots for elephants”! Thanks for the chance!
oh goodness i’ve been trying to win some of this on ebay for ages!! i would love love to win
i’m collecting pretty much all of HR fabric so incorporate into my mini log cabin quilt! the VW busses would be SO cute in the centers of my blocks
can’t wait to see who wins!
I’m making my (boy/girl) twins their first pillowcases- and I would just about DIE to be able to use this fabric. What could be more perfect??!!! Thanks for the chance to win.
Hi Ashley,
Remember me? I just asked you about making cute pillows like yours for my couch! I have already been brewing fabric choices in my mind, but of course, I have other projects to get to first. It’s so hard to wait! I’ve had a ton of fun swapping fabrics on flickr because my stash was needing so much help! I am thrilled with my newcomers and these would also be so great to add!
Thanks for sharing…even if it’s not with me!
Tasha
I love your “Pillows to Match” post —- it’s inspired me to attempt the string piecing. Beyond that, I am quite taken with “Sprinkling of Hexagons” and love how you definitely went outside the box. It’s on my “to do” list… As for the giveaway —- on lunch today I drove by a WV bug painted up just like Herbie! Oh, how I long for the “Wonderful World of Disney” days….gotta love the timelessness of WV. Thanks for creating lovely things to look at, and plenty of inspiring pieces of handwork!
hello! oh, i love that fabric! and i always enjoy seeing what you are working on.
post about a project i’m working on? well, i’m SICK of the summer heat (I’m in Houston) so i’ve forged ahead and am working on a Halloween quilt. Christmas is next!
Wow! So many posts!
Heather Ross is one of my favorite fabric designers…hers is the only fabric I “collect.” I’ve been a little disappointed recently, because some of my fabric is a super soft cotton, but the Far, Far Away has a strange texture. Does anyone know anything about it?
I’m in the middle of a queen sized quilt and thinking, what do I have myself into here? But I do really need it, the bed downstairs is naked. These fabrics are so fun, I know they have a great feel too, BUT I never had any, just fingered my daughters fabrics. Thank You.
I’m fairly new to your blog (maybe a month) and you’ve given me lots of ideas of things I want to try. The back of your nine patch quilt – I’m going to try that on the back of a quilt I did for the Old Red Barn quilt a long. Plus, I can’t wait to try the string quilts. I love that fabric you are giving away and it would be put to great use!! Keep at it!!
I just want to thank you again for your spiderweb quilt tutorial and the black and white one you made using it.
You gave me the courage and inspiration to make one for my 1 month old niece, perfect for my sister who has everything in the Toys’R'Us catalogue.
I would love to see some more clothing posts (not that I don’t enjoy the quilts!) because you totally amaze me with your clothing design skills. Thanks for all the fun blogging!
I have been blog lurking for a while due to all the great summer clothes you made. I am new to sewing and am working on getting better and better at sewing clothes. I am not sure what is up next, maybe a dress? I have thought about dabbling in quilting though…
Oh, and we totally had a VW van when I was a kid. I can’t stand how much I love those fabrics.
I’ve been reading your blog for a few months now, and you have soooooo inspired me to get off my butt and get some of my projects finished. Quilt for my mom, my daughter, placemats, bags, and of course a Kaleidoscope quilt for myself. Thanks for all the inspiration!!!!!!
Ack! SO CUTE! Those would be so freaking cute in the baby quilt I’m starting to plan. His nursery is car-themed :p
Thank you again for the tip on prewashing (rather, reinforcing my plan to NOT pre-wash) You are such a wonderful resource on these here intarwebs
I would like to thank you for all of your inspiration! Thanks for sharing with us. I especially love your photography of your quilts. Your lighting is always beautiful.
Have a great day
I just recently found your blog and your zig-zag quilt inspired me to try a similar one…for my first attempt at a “real” quilt (I have only done baby or doll ones so far). So thank you for the inspiration and for all the wonderful things to look at!
Its too embarassing to tell you all the things I’m working on. I’m afraid I’ve fallen into the crafty ADD world and have knitting, sewing and spinning projects all on the go in various states of mess. Drives my family crazy!
I love the fabric, but even more I love your blog. It has been my inspiration to get back to sewing and quilting. And now it is inspiring me to start my own blog. As for the fabric my first thought was to make something for a friends new baby, but honestly, the fabric is so cute that I think that I would have to make something and keep it for myself. (so, I’m just being honest).
I’ve been lovin’ your blog since I followed a link about one of your dresses. I’m totally jealous of your productivity–especially since we have such similar tastes! Hopefully I’ll get some of my abandoned projects finished soon, if I ever get a moment without a one-year-old crawling between my feet!
Thanks!
I love HR fabric, and those are great! Right now I’m working on the zig zag quilt for the ORB quilt along!!
Cute fabric! I’m working on an epic, queen-sized strip quilt (like your kaleidoscope quilt) for my parents’ Christmas gift. I made one for myself the same size and I estimate 300 hours from start to finish — and I didn’t even quilt the thing! But strip quilting is highly addictive. A support group would be helpful, for sure …
I’m making a baby quilt using the sparks quilt pattern on Handmade by Alissa. I couldn’t decide on a design for the back, but I just love the back you did for your 9 patch, so I think I’m going to try something similar! I really love your blog – you have a great sense of color and design!
How about my favorite poem/fable:
Le Corbeau et le Renard (The Crow and the Fox)
A ces mots le Corbeau ne se sent pas de joie ;
Tea Towels, tea towels, tea towels! And maybe a burp cloth or two with flannel on the backside. Your website is fabulous, and congrats on the 200 posts! peggy
Hi there! I’m a realatively new reader and I must say I am SOOOO impressed with the originality of your quilts! We just moved to a new house and I am so excited to have a place where I can leave my machine set up permanently (and where my one-year-old boy can’t get into it). Your quilts are very inspiring and I have to say my favorite is the Far Far Away hexagon quilt. So beautiful.
I just love drooling over your beautiful pictures, you have a great knack for color and pattern
I’m making my christmas list and getting ready to do the “shop” for the materials for presents.
Can you believe it’s only 4 months and a week till Christmas?!?! YIKES!
Cute, cute stuff! Thanks for the giveaway. I am getting ready to finally start my quilt for the doll quilt swap on flickr. I finally know what I want to do and it will be fun and quick. Thanks for sharing your quilts on your blog, I am always inspired by your design, color, and productivity.
I am in the middle of about four different projects (all baby presents), which can be frustrating–I make a little progress on each, but since I haven’t actually FINISHED any of them, it feels like I am getting no where. Sigh.
I am finishing up a baby quilt, and about to start another one. I really like the size of a smaller quilt, plus you are done in no time, so no time to get bored with the design.
Hooray! A giveaway! I’ve been lurking for a while now – you’ve created such beautiful quilts. I’m finishing up a simple block quilt and am a total newbie when it comes to quilting. I’m excited because I just purchased my first walking foot. Keep the great posts coming!
Beautiful!
Congratulations on your milestones! I love your work and follow you daily on Google Reader.
Hope you have a great day!
I love all your quilts! The black and white one with the touch of blue has got to be my all time favorite. I would love to try one one of these days with some pink. It makes my heart skip a beat just thinking about it!
Before I can even think about that though I have to finish my Halloween quilt that is taunting me.
I love this fabric. If I won it, I would use it in a project that is only for me. I’m too selfish to give away something so adorable!
Sigh. I love all the quilts you make, especially the Kaleidoscope string quilt. I’ve been in the process of making one of my own since you finished yours, but what with grad school and life in general, I barely have any time. I think at this point I only have four or five blocks finished. I’m about to get a ten day vacation, however, and the string quilt is #1 on my list of fun things to do! Hopefully I’ll make some real progress. Love the VW fabric – totally adorable! Thanks for keeping me entertained (and helping me to procrastinate!) with all of your beautiful quilts.
Your quilts are beautiful! These fabrics are so cute. I am drooling because I have a grandchild coming in October.
Congratulations on your blog!
I’m loving your blog. It’s so fun to see what you’re going to do next. I hope I win! Thanks.
I am new to sewing and crafting. You are definitely an inspiration. I just finished my first quilt! Yay! I love the backings on your quilts. Very creative!
My heart just skipped a beat when I saw these. My kids need pillows for camping. I could make them each a small pillow for their sleeping bags out of these!
I love looking at all your beautiful quilts! I am inspired everytime I see on of your awesome creations!! Thanks for sharing them with us and keeping our “to do” lists high!!
Hi Ashley, I’ve been lurking on your blog for a while now. I just LOVE your quilts- especially how you incorporate a lot of white in them. I am truly inspired by your blog.
Right now I am working on a disappearing 9-patch quilt for my son’s bed. It’s my first “real” quilt, but I hope to do some of your awesome ideas someday! And the fabric you are giving away is adorable!
Ashley – I love all your quilts! Thanks so much for sharing them here with us. You are truly inspirational! And I LOVE those VW buses!
I’m so impressed with your quilting & sewing skills. I’ve made so many of your market bags and your quilts have been a big inspiration!
My quilt to-do list just seems to be getting longer and longer, lol, so I’m working on all my sewn Christmas gifts early so I can enjoy the holidays quilting! =) Congrats on your milestones!
Your quilts inspire me soooo much! I never would have thought about doing anything special to the back of the quilt before I found your blog!
Your quilts give me tons of inspiration! Right now I’m having quilting/sewing withdrawals!!!! I’m a teacher and it’s time for me to set up my classroom and get organized {NOT easy for me!} so I haven’t had time to sew in several days. I think I want to try hexagons next!
I think once I finish an irish chain quilt I’m going to finish the back with extra squares like your last quilt. Thanks so much for the ideas
I have several projects going right now–a few first birthday gifts, a couple of mei tais…so much to do!
Whenever I see the quilts you’ve done, I want to make one myself.
Cute fabric! I’ve been thinking I need to try quilting. You make beautiful quilts. This would be the push I need to start a project
I just cut out fabrics for my first wonky block quilt and decided yesterday to make a flying geese quilt with some amy butler daisy chain! thank you for the giveaway!
I do enjoy the wonderful pictures you post of your quilts. I am consistently amazed at how quickly you finish them. I have been working on my first quilt since June and am still trying to muddle through. Thank you for the chance to win these adorable fabrics. Looking forward to seeing your next completed project.
I’m always amazed at how quickly you’re able to produce quilts. Do you have a sewing machine set up at your day job?
I am currently working on potholders and cuptowels that I will be giving to my relatives as their Christmas presents. I am 20 weeks pregnant and have an 11 month old, so I’m only able to work on them while he is napping and I’m tired.
I think it might take me a long time to finish at this rate! I also have a quilt top to quilt and a quilt to make for gifts. Then I have a few other projects–like a birthday banner for my son’s 1st birthday next month and some stockings for our family! Lots going on here.
I just completed a market tote using your tutorial last weekend. I found a great clearance pillow cover at IKEA and repurposed the fabric! Thank you!
I would love this! Heather Ross fabric is the best.
My favorite recent quilt you have done is the black and white string one. I would like make one with bright pink sashing to match my friend’s nursery. I have a VW bug convertible so I would of course love to win this fabric!
I am working on a quilt right now to match the colors in my living room. But, my next quilt, and I am being completely honest, is a HR lightening bugs and other mysteries quilt. Usually I quilt to match colors that I like, not necessarily because I love a fabric. Until now, I caught the bug big time with HR’s little bikes. Over the last few months I have been collecting as much as I can find (at regular retail prices) of Mysteries, but I don’t have any VW buses. I would love, love, love, love to win these.
OMG I love all your quilts! You are very inspirational!
I’m working on hooded towels, a baby blanket, pants for my boys, a skirt for my neice, hemming pants for my boys and probably a thousand other things. I would love this fabric. I grew up with an orange VW van and now my son call’s them “Herbie” vans. Even my husband loves this fabric. Mostly, he just rolls his eyes at all my fabric.
I love ALL of your quilts! I still have to go a looong way to be where you are in quilting..
Thank you for the giveaway! I have a pice of this fabric in blue but just not enough…..
great giveaway! I keep ogling over this fabric on ebay and etsy. I’m thinking of starting a new project (even though I have lots of unfinished ones) – with Erin McMorris wildwood collection. I think a coin quilt.
ur productiveness has inspired me greatly ! i check your blog daily and love seeing all your different quilts. Just wish i could work as fast as you
thanks for the push !
Ashley, I love your blog!! All of your quilts are absolutely beautiful, and I wish I could duplicate them all for myself! You really are fast, it amazes me how many quilts you can spin out. I just joined an online quilting bee and my inspiration is your Birds of a Feather quilt. I love the random/improv block look, and your color combos all turn out great. ( I think I need to go wipe my brown nose off now!! )
I love Heather Ross. And I love all your quilts. When I retire or find unlimited time I would love to be as passionate about quilt making as you are. Since I don’t have a whole lot of time for quilting they have to be special, my next one will be a Heather Ross quilt that I’ve been collecting for.
Those are so cute. I wish I’d bought some of the blue a few years ago but budget didn’t allow it. We used to have a VW bus when I was a teenager–drove it to Washington State on a family vacation and had to push start it at every stop the whole way.
Yay! I have a Darla quilt waiting until I can pick up some batting (I live in the country – the nearest batting is two hours away) and I’m knitting my mum a cardigan for her birthday.
HI Ashley! i’m RosaMarÃa, from México! i always enjoy read your posts and see that amazing quilts you made! you have a great eye for choose fabrics and make quilts!
i’m working on a quilt, with some neptune fabrics (tula pink) and i’m making a purse.
About the give away what can i tell you, is fantastic, becose that fabrics are really hard (and expensive) to find. So thanks so much for the great opportunity!!!
I am working on a quilt for one of my boys with the kona coal cotton. I think it is a great grey as well. I have done two shams and one twin quilt I have the other twin left to do. This is for a new room that they will be sharing and it is quite modern in design. Really enjoy seeing what you put together.
I am currently working on the old red barn strip quilt using summer soiree in manhattan
I have a few projects underway – my nine patch is way behind, a quilt that needs to be sandwiched, another quilt that needs binding, a dress to make for my dd. The fabric you are giving away reminds me of my dh’s VW bug back in the day.
Thanks so much! Right now I’m proud of the dress I made myself this past weekend out of a men’s dress shirt, because it was successful– people didn’t automatically ask if I made it myself! (Pictures on my blog)
Your quilts are so inspiring! Thanks for the giveaway. Right now I’m gearing up to make a twin-size quilt out of David Walker Robot prints. I just need to get sewing!
I love your quilts–and the other things you make as well. I have sewn up a bunch of four patches of wee play and recess but need to do sashing for my 2nd quilt ever. But paused to work on a bo peep skirt (from the Seams To Me book) for my oldest daughter.
Your quilts are so impressive–both the quality and the quantity! I have a pair of PJ pants in the Munki Munki version of that print, and I’d love to make something for my 7 mo. old daughter with it. Such an adorable fabric.
Your quilts are awesome! thanks for sharing your talents! Please enter me in your contest. Thanks.
I am so glad I found your blog a few months ago. You have given me miles of inspiration. You are very talented — maybe if i keep plugging away I can be half as good!
this fabric is awesome… and so are your quilts! they have inspired me to start quilting – and i’m slowly learning… my husband however is a tight wad and isn’t very open to allowing me to buy fabric all the time -haha! any fabric i can get my hands on is a plus and this stuff is beyond adorable! i also have a little one due in nov and i think this is perfect for some burp cloths or even a sweet little play quilt!
keep the great ideas coming – i can’t wait to see whats next!
I lost an Ebay auction for both of these fabrics over the weekend! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog and you have really inspired me. It is so cool to see that someone who started quilting in the not so distant past has produced so many amazing quilts. My two recent favorites: Back of the 9-patch and Patckwork Pillows. I have a thing for scrappy quilts with gray.
count me in for your giveaway! I love reading your blog and am so inspired by your color choices and how you managed to find beautiful designs that highlight lots of color without it being overwhelming. I’m hoping a new quilt I’m starting can have that type of effect. It’s going to be a wonky login cabin in all solids. Here’s hoping it’s great!
Hey-I’m a new reader and I am loving all your photos!! I love Heather Ross and would love to have this fabric. You just reminded me that I think my one-year blogaversary is up soon (or just passed) too! Yikes!
Ashley you are so generous! I just turned 40, and born in the “Summer of Love” I totally relate to this fabric! (I also drive a Beetle-can’t beat that VW aesthetic!) I used to have some of the vans, but for the life of me I cannot find it. I have searched every.single.nook.and.cranny.of.my.home. The best I can come up with is that it went with some fabric to donate (gasp!) when I moved two years ago. Hopefully the accidental recipient of my generosity loved it as much as I do (did). ;->
Thanks for the chance to win some…
Doris

I so enjoy seeing your quilts and your playful use of colour. You inspire me to do more of my own.
I’m a sucker for your quilts and some Heather Ross fabric! I’m making a string quilt because of you, and so is my sister. You are such an enabler!! Everytime I get a few more blocks done I post the pic on facebook. Everyone will be glad when I finally get it finished!
I started sewing about a year ago and I found your blog awhile ago when you posted about Heather Ross’s book. I haven’t made a quilt yet but I plan to in the next little while. I love looking at your choice of fabrics, color combinations etc.
Thanks for the giveaway. I’m working on a donation of baby quilts for the premature babies at a local NICU. These fabrics would be perfect!
I’m still wanting to try your version of the shirt in HR’s WS. I also have pants for me and a little blanket for my oldest on deck for sewing. However, a sweater I’m knitting has taken over my time right now. I love to see
what you are making your output is much greater than mine:)
I just want to say thanks for all the inspiration in quilting…I love seeing new fun fabrics and designs every time you post!
And I love this fabric too!! So much fun!
Whoo Hoo! You are alway inspiring. Thanks for the chance to have such cute fabric! Love Heather Ross!!!
I’m supposed to be working on a quilt for my husband, for our September anniversary (could be Christmas gift at the rate I’m going), but am now intrigued with starting a string quilt after seeing your black & white & blue! OR … wouldn’t the RVs look cute in the center of a scrappy log cabin? Keep up the good work!
Your quilts are absolutely fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing them and being willing to share such wonderful, hard to find fabric.
The VW fabric is awesome! Reminds me of an old roomie from university, she still desperately wants to buy an old VW van, maybe a little something in this fabric will cheer her up?!
I am working on my sister-in-laws baby shower gifts. Lots of cute and tiny things!
Believe when I say, before looking at your blog, quilting was not on my radar! Your quilting has truly inspired me! I love seeing the different designs and color combinations! Thank you!!!!
I love reading your blog. It absolutely cracks me up whenever you mention that you have been procrastinating on a project, because you are the most prolific quilter I have ever seen.
Happy belated anniversary!
That fabric is just too cute. I love that they have these types of things available now. Been busy and neglectful in reading and writing of blogs but trying to be better.
Love seeing your quilts (and other projects)! Keep them coming!
I just ordered a pattern on Etsy for a mini-clutch that I plan on using as my wallet- don’t have any fabric for it yet…..
your quilts are soooo awesome
Always an inspiration! I would looooove to win some of this lovely fabric…crossing my fingers
janel
We just moved, so I haven’t been doing too much sewing in the last week or so. But, when I do, I’m going to make a baby quilt for my niece due in December, and finish a log cabin quilt made from Recess fabric for my cousin, who is also expecting!
I just finished my kaleidoscope quilt and I am looking for a new project…. thinking of starting a string quilt because yours are so awesome!
Love the fabric!! I just discovered your blog and it’s become a fast favorite
I love reading your blog and seeing all your luscious quilts! I was just thinking today how much my sewing has changed recently. Earlier this year I wanted to make clothes and toys and now it’s all 100% quilts! I have a doll quilt and 2 log cabin pillow covers pieced and ready to be quilted right now.
I *Heart* your blog! Your quilts are truly an inspiration…and your dedication to it. I always pick your blog first when it pops up on the reader!
I have just ordered the fabrics (Kona Deep Blue and Batiks) to start a sampler style queen size quilt. All different size and patterened batik stars set into a deep blue background. I can’t wait.
The Dead head in me is loving those Ross fabrics!
Ashley – I so love reading your blog and am so happy you post so frequently! I always get so excited when I see you have posted again and use your ideas as inspiration for my own quilts. I am not nearly as fast as you and am totally jealous of your speed in quilting but its great that you are so you are able to post more! I would love to see more tutoirals from you on your lovely ideas. Looking forward to your next idea!
I love that fabric – I’m sure I could think of something to do with it – or just look at it like you suggested! =)
Oh my gosh!!! I would love, love, love to win those fat quarters. I see absolutely nothing wrong with you doing this give away again.
Thanks so much for inspiring me to quilt. I’ve got some other Heather Ross fat quarters just waiting to be washed and cut up for a quilt. But, boy is it gonna be hard to cut them. Aren’t her fabrics just the best?!
i want to complete some house projects: a cushion for a bench i just got, a piece of embroidery to hang, and a couple of dresses for my daughter. then, i would love to try my hand at a quilt.
Ashley–I stumbled upon your blog sometime early this year, when I was deciding to give quilting another try after (what I felt) was a pretty clumsy beginning about 5 years ago–and I gotta say, your improvisational, funky, joyful approach has been such a motivational nudge for me. I check in almost every day to see what you’ve been up to! I don’t need to win this fabric (super-cute tho it is)–just glad for the chance to thank you for all the inspiration!
Project? A fabric basket for my nephew who recently parted with his ancient VW bus after abusing it ‘cross country.. and now resides in Rutland, VT! I do love the fabric.
Too fun! I’ve discovered your blog a while back and have really enjoyed seeing your creations. Some of the fabrics you use in ways I’d never think to, but love the results! Keep it up!
Ah! You are such a sweetie! Great giveaway. I would love to add the blue vans to the HR quilt I’m working on…and since I have the pink ones, I would pay it forward if I won this giveaway
Hmm, a project that I would like to get done sometime this fall, but might not happen until after Christmas would be throw pillows for my basement family room. Two posts of yours are in my mental inspiration file for this project… the bento box quilt & your pillow project from a week or so ago. I’d like to do primarily red pillows in a bento box style. Thanks for so generously sharing all your projects!
I love your site and love your quilts. I always look forward to seeing your new quilts and designs and wish for more time to make more of them. I’ve used your string quilt pattern and fell in love with my quilt. I don’t want to give it away!
Thanks again!
You’re quilts are so beautiful! I sew but I haven’t made a quilt yet. My husband and I are buying a new house and my new sewing room will be sharing a space with our guest room that will have 2 twin beds. A twin size quilt sounds like the perfect first quilt project and these would be some awesome fabrics to start them with!
I absolutely *love* your modified bento box quilt. I could look at the pictures of it all day long. The colors are beautiful. If I had a quilting project to do I would want to make that one! Right now I’m in the middle of back to school clothes sewing, still fun though.
Love your modern take on quilting. I’ve been struggling with how to make quilts that are more modern with what is available and it is really been wonderful to see your spin.
Okay – I read you blog rather often, I don’t have you bookmarked or anything, since I just use someone else’s favorites everyday to read blogs. That way I get a couple of different points of view of who is fun, your blog show up on 2 different of the people I have used to guide me since April. I look forward to the days I see your blog pop up and you make me laogh sometimes, teach me something sometimes and have made life better in general.
I am a stalker of your blog and just love your quilts ! Your most recent quilt – the 9 block – is just gorgeous – I especially love the back! Thanks for a chance to win this amazing and fun fabric!
Thanks for the chance to win this great fabric. I’m a big fan of your blog–I LOVE your quilts! They’re an inspiration to me as I slowly piece together a quilt for my daughter.
I found your blog a while ago and have been visiting and commenting ever since. I am currently making four I Spy quilts and then a quilt for my mom. She recently gave me her “old” sewing machine, rather than turning it in for an upgrade. It’s far superior to what I had been sewing on. I think I owe her a quilt as a thanks since I have never made one for her.
I glean a lot from you blog as well as envy your production. Do you sleep?
There are a lot of things on my to-do list but the one I am most excited about is my first quilt. My daughter turns one next month and I would like to make her a rose themed quilt since her middle name is Rose. I have been collecting vintage sheets and linens with roses on them and just found the perfect flannel piece for the backing last week. Now I just need to decided on an (easy) pattern and I’ll get started. Wish me luck!
p.s. chances are it won’t actually be done by her birthday but she’ll never know the difference;)
I have flash backs when I see VW campers. A camper van lost his brakes and rear ended my car about a year ago. But I love the fabric and would put it to good use.
You have such great work! I’m saving up to someday buy one of your awesome quilts…would love the chance to win these FQs…want to make a little bag/pouch for my daughter when we move. Sold our house yesterday and the VW vans would be perfect for a little reversible tote she can take in the van for her travel essentials – what more could a 2 year old want? Thanks for the opp to win!
Hi! Lurker here! I love all of your projects and love that VW fabric. I’ve been thinking about making a wallet lately and that fabric would be perfect. Thanks for the inspiration!
My name is Gert and I’m a male quilter from the Netherlands. Right now I’m making a quilttop, using my first Jelly Roll (Wonderland by MoMo) I *heart* this VW fabric, so please count me in ^_^
I have a “Far Far and Away” quilt in mind for my daughter. We haven’t nailed down a pattern yet, but it’s next on my “to make” list.
I’m inspired by your quilting productivity!
And I loooove those fabrics
i want you to pick me but if you don’t please let me know who does win, so i can track them down and steal it! i love this fabric. i wish it could live on forever…or at least a few years.
I love this fabric! I just started quilting; in fact, thus far I’ve just (almost) completed a table runner, but I’m hooked! I’ve been following your blog for a few months now, and I love it. I think your work is amazing and very inspiring for a new quilter such as myself! I bookmark many of your quilts for things I’d like to try some day when I have a bit more experience. Thanks for the inspiration and the great reading!
I absolutely love your quilts… all of your work really. You are very talented and I look forward to your new projects being posted… you give me so much inspiration! I’m currently working on a Heather Ross Mendocino quilt for a pregnant friend but I adore the VW fabric and would love to make something with that!!! Please count me in!
Love reading your blog! I’m getting ready to start a design business — how’s that for a little project!
Thanks for all your great posts!
Let’s see. I’m working on a baby quilt with charm squares much like your Wonderland baby quilt, except I am using Woodland Bloom. I love the way it has turned out so far. It’s quilted and just waiting for the binding. The baby shower is next weekend, so hopefully I’ll be done soon!
Cuteness! I am working on a lap quilt made from vintage sheets and solid aqua sashing. It’s so nice and summery…just in time for the…uh, fall.
Love your blog, as I really like the way you put together your fabric combo’s. I’m in Australia so am making a few pj’s to see us through the tail end of winter. As both boys seem to have had a growth spurt. For me I’m waiting on some oilcloth to arrive to make anna marias multitasker in preperartion for the summer as beach/pinic bag.
I totally think you are a genius…I have been shamelessly trying to copy so many of your ideas. I think you should do a book – I would buy it. =)
Cheers from Canada!
Love this fabric! I’m currently working on a dress. I’ve never made a quilt, but your blog definitely has me thinking that I should give it a try!
I’m working on a disappearing 9 patch quilt with moda hopscotch fabric. Love the VW fabric!
Oooohhhh!!! I love those fabrics & I know they are so hard to find these days! I recently found your blog & love all your beautiful quilts! What great inspiration! I just started quilting & am about to finish my first-ever quilt. I’m also starting to collect fabrics for all the other projects I want to make & these Heather Ross prints would be a fabulous addition! Thanks for the great inspiration & great giveaway!
This is a generous giveaway, Ashley. Thanks.
So many things on the go for me. Just finished quilting my grass quilt so binding is on the agenda, and preparing for a couple of announcements of my own.
WOW, what a great giveaway!!! I’d love to make a mini quilt with this or something
Or maybe a doll quilt for my girls.
Hi there Ashley,
What a very generous giveaway! Thank you! I love stopping by your blog, it is full of inspriration!
There is lots going on under my roof. I have 3 large quilts to bind (one actually was inspired by your patchwork squares). 3 cot quilts to make for gifts and I need to get cracking on a summer wardrobe for me and my little girl!
Oh, did I mention I would like to learn to crochet!.
Thanks again,
Kate
I’m starting a nine patch quilt now because you inspired me with yours. Two, actually. If all goes according to plan I’ll have two wonderful gifts this Christmas. I love the idea you had for the backing : )
This fabric is darling!
You are an inspiration, I love everything you make and marvel at your speed.
Currently, I am working on binding my first coin quilt and also piecing together another blocky quilt made from Amy Butler fabric.
I have a few quilts in my head ready to be created in all of my free time. Thank you for your inspiration. I look at your blog daily and I just love your work. I’m going to try a modified bento block quilt based on your tutorial for my MIL’s birthday.
Please pick me! I just love that fabric. It’s so fun. It must be made into a quilt to liven up our camper.
What great fabric! Thanks for a great place to come and be inspired!
Great giveaway! I love your blog and find it very inspiring. I am currently working on two baby quilts, a queen size quilt for our guest bed, and I hope to start a string quilt soon. Not enough hours in the day!
Wow you are such an inspiration. Keep up the good work! (awesome giveaway too!)
You are such an inspiration! I always look forward to your blog.
I’ve been working on hand sewing projects, including my DQS7 swap quilt. Mostly, I’ve been trying to teach myself new techniques… videos on the internet are invaluable for that.
Perhaps someday I’ll have a giveaway on my blog…
I LOVE that fabric! I was just telling my mom about it today and saying how cute I thought it was. I have a couple of projects in the works right now – a quilt for my mom, a bag for a friend’s birthday, and a quilt I’m working on for myself.
Your work is simply amazing. I’m very much an amateur – I love designing quilts, I love piecing, and I love hand quilting, but I’m starting to find myself getting impatient with hand quilting. I’m too chicken to quilt on the machine, though. One of these days I’ll get over it, bite the bullet, and quilt a little something by machine. Stippled quilts are fabulous (love your 9-patch!), and I’d love to learn to do that on the machine.
So here’s the deal… yes, I follow your blog faithfully and find it so inspiring! I love all the white with bright – actually inspired me to make up my own “white with bright” quilt and I LOVE the white in there. And sweet fat quarters – thanks for the chance to win them!
I love to sew, but have never tackled a quilt. In the past week I’ve made a dress for myself, a dress for my daughter, a tote bag & embellished another tote bag. I LOVE your fabric combinations! The colors are just gorgeous!
i only discovered your blog about a month ago. i went right back to the beginning and looked at every quilt. all i can say is – WOW. i don’t sew…yet. i don’t quilt…yet. i do knit and i like to think that i’m just naturally crafty (it’s untrue, but i like to believe it). my sister has a great sewing machine just gathering dust in her basement that i think i’ll be borrowing come september and then, hopefully, i’ll begin my own quilting journey! your quilts are a total inspiration to me – both colours and patterns. i don’t think i realized that quilts could be so modern and could be created to fit any taste; it’s just not something that i ever thought about. anyway – rambling comment.
thank you for doing what you do!
i recently discovered your blog, and i have to admit that i went back and looked at all you 200+ postings! the nine patch is beautiful… keep up the inspiring work! I’m getting ready to start quilt number 4 myself, and seeing all you’ve created really has gotten the creative juices flowing!
Great fabric, I’m (was) a 60′s teenager. Seen a lot a VWs in my day. I just love your blog and all the quilts you make. You are such an inspiration to me.I have just finished the 1/2 hexie quilt and am currently making a new sampler quilt for my basic patchwork class. Thank-you so much for sharing youself and your quilting with all of us.
Your baby boy quilts are inspiring, especially since I have a boy. I’m working on one of my own for my son’s birthday.
Ooh, I love this fabric! I’ve been wanting it for a long time. That’s so nice of you to give it away. I really love your blog and your quilts. You’re such an inspiration.
I would love to have the Heather ross bus fabric. I need the pink one real bad. BTW.. love your blog. you rock.
I have found so much inspiration in your work! I love looking at your color combos and the brights with the white sashing. I just started quilting and did my first with Old Red Barn this summer. Thanks for your posts and this give-a-way, I would love to do something fun with prints like these!
Since I can’t just say please enter me. I’ll confess that you give me inspiration since I’m new to the quilting world. I hope that I can make quilts as nice as you do.
I’ve sent my summer swap project yesterday and today I’m starting a new project, making 2 tote batik bags for 2 dear blogging friends.I’ve planned it would be kind of ‘surprised’ gift for them.
That fabric is so cute! You are so generous to give it away! I’m getting inspired to do some quilting again-I’ve been busy with back-to-school clothes for my granddaughters
I found your blog through Sew Mama Sew! and immediately added it to my reader
I love your quilts and I am so impressed at the speed with which you finish quilts! How many hours a day do you spend quilting? Is it your main occupation?
Those are such cute fabrics. I would love to be considered for the giveaway. Right now I should be working on my quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap #7 or my final paper due tomorrow, but instead I am contemplating Quilting Bee blocks and playing on the internet. My next quilt will likely be a big charity quilt from some of the orange swap blocks I made in 2005. All I have to do is sash them and the top would be done, but I have been procrastinating (4+ years… LOL).
Happy milestones all around! I’m trying to plan only my second quilting project – a zig zag quilt. Still in the petting fabric that will have its feelings hurt if I don’t pick it for the party.
I really need to learn how to machine quilt so that I can finish some projects, but for now I love making quilt tops and imagining that someday I will have time to hand quilt them!! I would love to make a black and white quilt-but that would mean a trip to the fabric store…so I will most likely start working on some Christmas presents soon because it will be here before you know it!!
I have really loved reading about all of your quilts since I found your blog through the Block Party blog (don’t remember how I found it) about a month ago. You are so fast and whip them out so quickly.
Most of my sewing experience is in making clothes. But right now, I’m working on my very first quilt! Nothing fancy, but still super fun. I find your quilts really inspiring! Fingers crossed for winning this fabulous fabric…
I love these fabrics! I am in the process of swapping- ‘begging, borrowing or stealing’ to get my hands on some more! I’m planning on using some of them to do an orange and pink quilt for my daughter.
I really enjoy tagging along on your creative journeys. Love the blog.
I love your quilts, especially the latest black and white one. It’s inspiring. Thanks for the chance to win the cute Heather Ross fabric, too!
Ijust had a baby and I’m dieing to start making my own Mei Tai carrier. I have all the materials and I just made the pattern up on paper, now I just need the time! I also want to do a half hexigon quilt after seeing yours.
I really really really wish I had more time to sew. I get frustrated to only be able to sew little things a little at a time (2 small children). I read your blog and start making lists for the future.
I’m always inspired by your quilts! It’s so nice to find others who love modern quilting & your talent is incredible! I’d love this fabric & I’d absolutely use it : )
I’d love to make an hexagon quilt and those fabrics would go perfectly with my selected stash:)
Thanks for the opportunity and congratulations on your blog!!
Ines
I have made two quilts in my life and am still finishing one of them! I love your site it just makes me want to sew sew sew, but then I get home and all I want to do is sleep! Oh well I will get there.
This fabric is new to me. Love your blog.
I love reading your blog. It’s very inspiring! I’m working on a quilt for my mom for her birthday and a 9patch quilt for my mother-in-law for xmas. Next I plan on making some of those adorable Advent calendars that Oh Franson made a tutorial for!
Great give away, I’ve wanted some of the Heather Ross fabric. I’m slowly working on a string quilt using your tutorial, let me know if you would like a peak at my in-progress picture on flickr. I’m also finishing up a dress for my daughter. Thank you for all of the inspiration from your blog!
Your quilts are so great. I haven’t started quilting yet, but I absolutely love your work with coordinating the colors and the patterns.
i really enjoy your work, it inspires me to use more white in mine!
we actually almost got a WV van last year… but in the ended we went for a subaru… so maybe if i win there will be some poetic justice?! i certainly hope so!!! love heather ross… thanks for the giveaway.
The fact that you are already producing such gorgeous stuff is awesome. I was nervous to start quilting, because I’d see quilts like yours and feel intimidated, but then when I saw your very first quilt (from last summer) I realized you are SO talented, but you also prove that beginning/intermediate quilts can be even better and more breathtaking than I thought was possible. Awesome work.
You introduced me to Heather Ross’ stuff, too, so…thanks for that!
I love your style of quilting…absolutely love the backs…I used that concept for my latest quilt…ellenscreativepassage@blogspot.com/2009/08/peacock-stripe-quilt.html
It’s funny…one of my uniform tops for work is made from the pink VW fabric..I keep thinking one of these days I’m just going to cut it up to use the fabric!
I love your blog! First found it for the clothes you’ve made (would love to see more!) and now am in love w/ your quilts. The VW fabric couldn’t be any cuter. Fingers crossed!
Oh wow! This is fantastic! Thanks for the opportunity to win some super cute Heather Ross fabric
Lets see.. things im currently working on?? I am constantly starting projects or buying materials to start a project and then completely getting side tracked by another. I am horrible for that. I have a quilt I had started to make 3 months ago based on a design/pattern of one of your quilts. I have the Arcadia all cut and ready to go.. havent touched it for 2 months
I really really want to make a quilt out of the wonderland fabrics, but havent accquired them as of yet. Its your fault that Im am coveting wonderland soo much
I love your blog. It appears front and center on my iGoogle home page each day, and I really love your quilts. I must thank you for inspiring me to make quilts WITHOUT a pattern. My last one was a square in a square and all the fabric was totally from my stash. I even made the backing more interesting, combining some of the fabrics from the top. It’s now pin basted and waiting till I have enough time to start quilting. Thanks again.
I love the colors of your quilts. Thank you for the Modified Bento Box Tutorial. I just started my 11th square. I’m using 30s reproduction fabrics.
Wendy
Have three baby quilts tu make by Dec and haven’t started them yet! (or made one before!!!!!) Me thinks I may have bitten off more than I can chew!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog!! Keep up the good work! I can’t think where you find the time to be so busy!
Tia xxx
i’m working on multiple baby quilts for my cousins! fun fun fun but a lot of work…
Oh my goodness, what a lovely giveaway. Your quilts are SO inspirational for me; they have given me confidence in my improvisational impulses and my desire for “spare yet color-rich” modern quilts. Thank you for doing what you do–and sharing it with all of us!
Your quilts made me take a dive into string quilts- YIKES what an addiction! I love looking at your quilts for inspiration, they are all so bright and beautiful! Thanks for the giveaway.
im currently working on a double wedding ring quilt for my (soon to be) husband.
he would love that fabric!
I’ve been admiring this fabric in blog land for a while now, it’d be lovely to have it, especially since I’m a fan of Volkswagen
Your quilts are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing.
What a great giveaway! The name of your blog brings back lots of film memories, esp. now that I just found out Costco is going to quit developing and printing film next week. Home darkrooms are going to be all that’s left soon.
I’m trying to decide what to do for my month in my very first quilting bee. I’m thinking a string quilt but I worry I’m asking too much of my fellow quilters.
Oh, and yes…. pick me, pick me!!!
I’m working on my first string quilt (thanks to your tutorial!). My son found a pile of washed, folded, ironed fabric on the dining room table that I was intending to use for another quilt. He had scissors. Needless to say, the original quilt was no longer possible, but there was enough left in the carnage for a string quilt!
The first day of school for the kids is tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to getting back into the quilting rythm!
I love your quilts, especially your backings!
I’m currently saving up Heather Ross fabric, and I don’t have either of these! When I have enough fabric, I’m hoping to do something sort of scrappy with just her prints. They are all so fabulous!
I think I have too many current projects to list them all, but at the top of my “must finish” list are a b-day quilt for a friend and a baby quilt that I was commissioned to make.
thanks for posting such great stuff. I just used your tutorial to make my first string quilt. You’re awesome.
I love this VW fabric! I need to check out other Heather Ross designs. And your quilts have gotten me, a non-quilter, inspired and thinking about taking on the challenge of my first one!
Ooooh! I love, love, love that fabric! I would give my right arm for some, except then I wouldn’t be able sew…….8-).
I want you to know that reading your blog and seeing all the beautiful work you do has got me back sewing again. I made clothes for myself and then for my kids as long ago as when I was 10 (and I’m now 62!!), but haven’t sewn in such a long time. You are truly an inspiration to all of us, and your talented work has lifted my spirits and, I’m sure many, many more.
Thank you for all you do.
Linda
Oh yes, please please enter me
how i would love to own my own little piece of heather ross fabric!
I’ve just made my almost 2-year son a quilt using Heather Ross’ glodfish in a bag fabric. I LOVE her fabrics, and wish I had more like these vans, so far I’ve only had the fish.
I love the VW’s I’ve had my eye on them for a while! I was in California last week and driving around in a VW Bus that broke down on the southbound 5. It was at that moment that my serious pursuit of these little cuties took flight. Here I am,rush hour California Highway traffic, standing 15 feet away from the bus in fear that it might blow up and I am thinking about Heather Ross. What’s my problem?
A belated congratulations on your 200th post and also your one year blog anniversary….You are very inspiring!
Well, technically I’m not working on anything. I’ve been on partial bedrest since about 23 weeks. I’m now 34 weeks. Been wishing so bad I could make a quilt for baby. Or sew lots sweet things. We didn’t find out what we are having and I can’t even sit at my sewing machine:( So I guess that’ll have to come later!! Due Oct 1st. If I make it that long. Can’t wait!! For baby or to sew again:) LOVE, love, love all your quilts. You are so inspiring. Wish I spent a tenth as much time sewing quilts as you do!! I’m so impressed you are self taught. And anyone who doesn’t have to use patterns rates super high in my book:) Keep the inspiration coming!!!
I’m not really working on anything right now, but need to finish up several WIPs before I do anything else. One I do need to finish before the end of the month, which is fast approaching! I am always astonished (jealous?
) by how quickly you work. I wish I could get it done that fast. Maybe once my kids are in school… one day.
Keep the beautiful quilts coming!
so love your site! I am currently making a sunny squares quilt of my own due to your insipiration. Keep all your beautiful quilts coming.
I’m working on my first quilt right now. Thanks for sharing your creations and for keeping me inspired!
I’m working on a string quilt, using your fabulous tutorial! I’m super excited about how it’s turning – your directions are so clear.
Thanks for all the inspiration!
I’m about to start my first “non-baby” quilt and I love the selection of fabrics I’ve chosen, but I’m having trouble deciding on an overall design/pattern idea. I’d greatly appreciate any ideas, especially since your work is glorious! The VW’s are sooooo cute, I can’t believe you haven’t already used them all up!
Ashley, I love your work and have been inspired by your work. I especially love your Far,Far Away Improv quilt and have tried some block of my own. I am currently working on a small prayer quilt with pockets for my cousin who has cancer.
I’d gladly take your ‘lack of originality’ anyday if it involved this fabric!!! And you have loads of individuality! I loved your fabric stash, and this would be no different!
Right now Im working on a baby quilt for a college roommate. Im trying my first attempt at modern/wonky/no pattern…and so far it looks just like a mess, so Im hoping it comes around. Thanks for all your great posts!
krousegirl2 at aol dot com
Love your modern approach to quilting Ashley! Well done on your recent milestones – you are such an inspiration with your prolific quilting. I am currently working on a quilt for my Mum’s 70th birthday.
Wow! I can’t believe your giving away those great prints! I love the little people in the VW buses print! Your blog is so great – I find it so inspiring and easy to read. I don’t really have time to keep up with my Reader right now so some of my blogs have like 47 unread posts or something ridiculous like that…but I ALWAYS read yours and I’m so thankful for the happy tone
I never feel like it’s “work” (YOU know how something you love can turn into a “task” you “have to do”). I always enjoy your posts so much. Thanks a lot for the little piece of beauty that is “Film in the Fridge”!
OK so it just amazes me! How you can so easily share what you love to so many! I enjoy your blog – I will probably share this with some of my Apparel students this fall – I teach at a high school!
Those are some of my favorite prints! Thank you for sharing them with us! I’m finishing up a few projects, but also planning some holiday gifts… hopefully an early start with help get them finished.
Im in between projects right now. Ive done some sewing in the past, and woudl like to start making some clothes for my 15 month old daughter. Id love to work with that fabric in yoru giveaway. Thanks for the chance!
Brina
Hi Ashley! Congrats on your blog-iversary. What project am I not working on would be an easier question to answer. I’m finishing my Summer Swap project, a HST zig-zag quilt (I cheated and used triangle paper
); finishing up a pair of ovenmits for my mother-in-law’s birthday and a store sample for one of the local quilt shops. My sewing room looks like a fabric mill explosion! Thanks for the giveaway. . .so nice! Enjoy your week!
Its nice to see a fellow VT quilter! I enjoy your blog and your fabric choices are divine. Do you buy your fabric locally and if so, where? (not too many choices…)? Or online? Its also fun to see how productive you are
You have the best giveaways (and quilts). I love looking at all your great photos!
I always enjoy looking at your blog for inspiration on new projects. I have several tops that need to be quilted. I also have some wee play and katie jump rope that I am “saving” for two special projects. I have enough stash to last for decades but I keep on buying more. I simply must get this undercontrol- haha!
I just stumbled upon your blog after seeing the fantastic dishtowels you made with your fabric scraps – what a perfect wedding gift to make, thank you! Now I see today’s post with this great VW fabric and it is absolutely perfect for a wedding gift for my sister who just got engaged last week. I love your blog and look forward to taking some more time to explore more of it. Have a great night!
Jayne (the view from my shoes)
I am trying to catch up on lots of little projects lately, my UFO pile is making me a little crazy. I don’t mind sewing in the summer, central air does the trick.
Love those fabrics, reminds me of my grandparent’s Winnebago.
i love your work! i’m a beginning quilter, and everything you make is so inspiring. thanks for the chance to win some fabric!
I haven’t ever actually made a quilt, but you have completely inspired me to try. I am in love with so many of your quilts–patchwork squares, the first quilt of 2009, this end up, spots everywhere, and, well, about 35 more.
I think you should write a book.
Your quilts are always so beautiful – I get excited every time you post a new one!
I need to work on a quilt for a friend’s wedding, a friend’s baby that’s coming, plus some burp cloths and taggies…lots to do, so little time! (always the story, i know!)
I commented on your blog awhile back mentioning that I was going to make a quilt like your striped picnic quilt for my daughter and her husband for their wedding. Well, I made a huge mistake that I am too embarrassed to admit here online. I will just say that I had to cut the entire quilt apart and resew it into a new top. I now have it pieced together and the first border on. It will have two borders, the first is 5 inches, the second will be 7. So it is coming along.
I don’t know how to quilt yet and read your blog for inspiration. Your quilts are so beautiful. I hope to someday be able to make quilts as lovely as yours and am determined to start my first one this summer.
Cute Fabric! I am working on Love Beads from the Modern Quilt Workshop by FunQuilts–It must be done by next Friday so ummm, no pressure there.
I also have part of a Once Upon a Time quilt for my daughter from the same book.
And I have some 1930′s fabric cut out for the nine patch at Crazy Mom quilts.
My other big wip is buying a house (Oh my goodness!)
You’ve got to be in it to win it! Ashley thanks for all your inspiration – you are the the reason why I love Heather Ross and string quilts! Thanks for sharing!
Love those fabrics
What lovely fabric. I am working on a black and white quilt with applique in three other colours. It was supposed to be done way back in April. I really need to get down to getting it finished but other things keep popping up.
I’m just getting started on my first bed size quilt. Wouldn’t be nice if I could add those fabrics to it?!?!
I love all your quilts, especially the backs, which are nearly as interesting as the fronts!
Your quilts have given me many ideas for my own- kaleidoscope string quilt up next! Thanks for the give-away!
Great giveaway! Thanks for the chance. I love VW campers. We thought about buying one. The only drawback I see is you have to pack up camp if you want to take a quick trip to the store or something.
Paper piecing! I lovelovelove the photos of how beautiful these types of quilts are, but I don’t have the scrap stash to do one now (though, of course, I’m considering buying fabric to make one!).
Hi there. Well, what better time to let you know how much I enjoy your blog. This is what I read during my morning tea break at work, there is always something nice to look at. After a 6 month break from quilting, you have inspired me. Within the last 2 weeks, using your tutorials, I have made a string quilt and a bento box (I’ll send you pics), thanks for helping me get my sewing mojo back! Love your work. Adele
I have a small stack of 4 inch squares from this Heather Ross line…can’t figure out what to do with them but am always inspired by your quilts. Would love a bit more of this fabric to increase my posibilities! Thanks!
I just recently decided to start quilting. So I love reading your blog and looking at your amazing creations. Seeing your quilts makes my imagination go into overdrive.
I’m currently working on a scrub top for my sister, 2 lunchbags for my other sister and niece, and also my scrappy christmas blocks for a block swap. Thanks for the giveaway!
Hi Ashley. Thank you for being so creative. I am in the process of cutting strips for a colorful string quilt because I love yours so much.
Your quilts are such an inspiration to me. I still struggle with sewing straight lines. Any tips?
I loved how you put the scrap border on the back of your nine patch. I just recently found my “lost” 9 ptaches that I had misplaced during my recent move. I am excited to get them finished up. But now I can’t decide if the scrap border should be on the back or front?!
I have been thinking just the last 2 days that I should start making a quilt for my caring neighbour’s birthday (5 Oct). I am thinking a 9 batch or logcabin just to use up my old stash. Btw, I love all your quilts that you made.
Your quilt design and finished products are very inspirational.
I finally cut into my Far Far Away stash today, so I am on my way on making a quilt. I have had most of this fabric since the line first came out, but I haven’t been able to cut into it because it is so darn pretty. I look at your Far Far Away quilt on a regular basis and I find it so inspiring and so today for some reason was the day I finally went for it. Must be the 90 degree weather!
I live amongst plenty of quilt shops and noe carry any Heather Ross or any of the Free Spirit designers, either! Very conservative area – Ugh!! I’m very not-conservative and winning some would be HUGE to me! Thank you, Ashley!
I’m working on a quilt for a wedding that’s happening in a week and a half, but I’m not going to get the top finished in time, because my first time through my blocks were a half an inch smaller then the blocks made by the bride’s mother, so I had to rip them all apart and start over. And I have to clean my house for the bridal shower. Oh well.
I’m a new quilter and I’ve been stalking following you for a while now *smiles* Your quilting is a big inspiration to me! I’d love to win this fabric!
I just love what you did with your nine patch. The grey on the back is fabulous!
I’m working on finishing up a couple of doll quilts. I’m putting off working on a few quilts for shows coming up in the fall…
kelli_s1@yahoo.com
Rats, that last comment was supposed to have a slash through the “stalking” *laughs*
wow, 260 comments…. oh, well might as well make it 261! LOL
I love the fabric. I have a VW bug convertible and my son has always wanted a vw van… This would make a cute pillow for his dorm room next year…
Oh My that’s a lot of comments! Those fabrics are just gorgeous adn I love visiting your blog to check out your quilts. Thanks for the inspiration!
Great giveaway, thanks so much! I’m working on a quilt for my little niece. She luuuurves dogs, so I’m doing fussy cuts of the different dogs from the dog park fabric in cloud, and offsetting them in squares made up of a mix of really bright geometric and floral prints, then I’m going to sash it in white. Although I guess i have to use the phrase “working on” pretty loosely since I finished the first square three months ago and haven’t done anything since. But the busy time at work is over and i’m ready to start quilting again now!
Very cute fabrics! Have been enjoying your quilts for some time – please share how you get so much done while working and having a house & hubby! Thanks!
Honestly, yours is the blog I most look forward to reading. Between your color choices and amazing design work, you seriously inspire me. I have a ton of ideas based on your quilts–of only I had the stash to complete them all. I kind of wish you offered patterns
I just made a library tote for one of my favorite 5 year olds and finished a quilt my 2 year old will take to school for naps (1st time away…sob!). Keep up the EXCELLENT work!
Oooh! Looks like you have a LOT of fans!
I LOVE this VW print! My husband & I met over a VW (he restored vintage bugs & busses years ago) — so this fabric would get a really good home!
When I was a kid, our family went through 3 different VW vans, camping all over Idaho, Montana and Washington. We loved our “busses” and spent great times in the real woods–not even campgrounds in sight–just living with nature. We even ate cattails once (like corn on the cob) a la Euell Gibbons (anyone old enough to remember him?). A travel pillow for my dad out of this would be a great gift!
I love your nine-patch and all the creative work you do. I was so inspired by your blog that I made a quilt after 20 years from quilting. I used your “Windmill Whimsy” but added borders to make it large enough for my husband to use while watching TV. He loves it and I get many compliments on it. Now I am making quilts for Christmas for each of my 4 grandchildren. Thanks for the inspiration! (And the giveaway!)
Congrats…I’m so amazed by your productivity! Great fabric to give away.
Your quilts inspired me to try qilting.
I am inspired by your 9-patch, and think I’ll try my hand at one. Thank you!
I Love your quilts they are great. I love the green string quilt it is wonderful. Thanks for all of your great inspiration.
Gee – 270 comments before mine doesn’t make my odds very good but I LOVE that fabric and have never had any so it’s worth a shot. I’ve really enjoyed watching your progress into a spectacular quilter this past year or so and I hope you’ll stick with it so I can keep watching!
I was just thinking about you, Ashley! I started another quilt inspired, of course, by you! I went with the bento box pattern and am enjoying it … now that the cutting is over with!
I actually literally (5 minutes ago) finished making a very cute girly monkey based on the “Molly Monkey” pattern. I also have a baby quilt (only my second quilt ever) on the go – I just need to finish up the quilting, do the binding, and then done!
I’m really inspired by your work and I love reading your posts; keep it up! Thanks for hosting such a great giveaway!
Your quilts are so beautiful! I have sewed for many years but have just gotten into quilting. How I wish I would have started before now- there’s so much to learn it can be overwhelming! I’m starting small and I just don’t know how you quilters can do so many in such a short amount of time.
I love following your blog. And I would love to have that Heather Ross material!
Thanks for the chance!
love the fabric! i’m working on some summer snowballs. very bright colors…much different than that fabric I want to win.
I love the VW fabric. It reminds me of our old VB bus!
Oh, what a great giveaway! I just love your blog and your quilts are gorgeous!
I would love to be entered! I have found inspiration in your quilts and I am working on my very first one right now. I happen to be using your modified bento box tutorial to make a quilt made of oranges, pinks, blues, reds and creams. It is CERTAINLY not perfect and my mistakes are shining through but I am very excited to get into the quilting world! These fabrics could be part of my second quilt!
I have a bib in this fabric and it’s gotten all stained. I’d love to sew up something else with it so I’ll be able to have the print around a little longer.
Love your blog!
Oh wow! I’ve been eye-balling this fabric ever since I saw a few months ago. Our best friends are AVID VW lovers (they each have VW tattoos even!) and I’d love to whip something up with this fabric.
I love your blog! I’m a “dye-hard” (haha) knitter but your posts have inspired me to look deeper into quilting. You have such a great eye for design.
Thanks for sharing!!
That’s super sweet of you Ashley! I’m a big fa of Heather Ross, but I know you already know that! {wink, wink}… I hate thinking about all my projects on the back burners… so let think about yours
I would love a set of your terrible cute coasters… any plans to make more ( mom’s little gift )… if so, I’d love to put in an order!
Heather
Love those fabrics! I just want to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog. Your quilting has inspired me to branch out and try new things. Next I think I’ll tackle a large quilt (double or queen), but I don’t quite know how to square a large quilt. Any tips?
Congrats on 245 posts and your 1 year anniversary. Thanks for the giveaway, it’s such cute fabric! Love your blog and ALL of your quilts…you are amazing.
Wow! 276 comments?! I love reading your blog
Such an inspiration. I love this fabric and would love to win. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I only wish that I had started sewing/quilting long enough ago to be able to find HR lightning bugs and DS flea market fancy. Oh well, I will just have to cross my fingers that I win a giveaway one of these days! Right now I am working on gift quilts for 2 of my close friends- one is a housewarming gift and the other is for an engagement gift. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I’m a very beginner sewer, but I’ve been working on pillows and curtains for my office. It’s so addicting.
I am still working on my FITF inspired string quilt. I have about 1/2 of the blocks complete and love them. I just started quilting about 3 months ago and the string quilt is my 2nd project. I wish I could complete them as quickly as you do!
Thanks so much for showing your beautiful quilts and inspiring us.
PS – I love those fabrics.
Thanks for the giveaway! Love your blog, you inspired me to start quilting, and I can’t tell you how many market bags I have made as gifts for people, and I just started making your ric rac napkins. I LOVE all your tutorials! Keep ‘em coming!
I am currently working on a patchwork quilt (crib size) for my new daughter in Heather Ross Mendocino. I’m not using a pattern, just making up blocks as I go and sashing it in white Kona cotton.
I am also working on a twin sized quilt for her when she gets a little bigger in a combination of Jay McCarroll’s Woodland Wonderland and other fabrics.
I’m also dying to try my hand a stacked coin quilt as well.
I love reading your blog and find inspiration in almost every post. I wish I could crank them out like you do, but with two little ones underfoot, it’s hard to find the undivided time. I’m lucky if I can rotary cut once and a while.
I love the old heather ross stuff and I’ve been looking for the pink busses for a while now. Your quilts are really inspiring, and even though I haven’t started my first full size quilt yet, I have some great ideas, thanks to you!
Congrats for a year of blogging! I just found your blog this summer and added to my reader so I could follow you regularly. I love the things you make! Thanks for a giveaway of really cute fabric! I am currently working on two baby quilts for baby boys, and am thinking about starting Christmas gifts.
Your kaleidoscope quilt is my current favorite to look at, and I’m planning to make one of my own as soon as I finish a few other projects. Thanks for the inspiration and the giveaway!
Hi, I am working on quilts for my 2 eldest daughters, and cushions for my lounge, or I would be if I had better time management skills!!! I love your blog, always so inspiring!!
Wow, you sure are one popular girl these days Ashley! I’ve currently got several quilts on the go…I’ll spare you the details…but have to admit that I’ve really just been making them as an excuse to build up my scrap stash so I can make my own version of your patchwork squares quilt. I love ALL of your quilts but that one just keeps coming back to me…then I’m going to have to try something a little busier on the front just so I can implement a back similar to your last quilt. I’ve said it before…your such an inspiration!
Thanks for the giveaway…but mostly thanks for being so gosh darn productive and giving us so many great ideas.
All your quilts are just fabulous! I want to make one for my bed (eek – that means big!) like your this-end-up quilt – so that will be my next project (by the way what pattern did you use?) And I’m going to start planning my handmade Christmas gifts soon. Thanks for the giveaway.
hey! great giveaway!
! i’m currently working on quilted and regular totes for a craft fair – i love the fabrics, but am getting a little burnt out, you know?
ah, well, poor me.
I love everything that you make, and am so inspired by your quilts. I am working on a zigzag quilt right now but really want to make a string quilt. I may just start cutting strips.
Love that VW fabric, and I always enjoy seeing your work. I have a baby quilt that I’m almost done with–just need to handstich the binding. Then I have four more quilts in the plans, which involves many stacks of fabric around my bedroom. My husband loves it. Or tolerates it.
I love that fabric, especially the pink! I used to babysit for a family that had a VW van. They actually took it camping!
I went to Middlebury College and have only been back once since graduation five years ago. I enjoy seeing glimpses of Vermont in the background of your pictures, and look forward to witnessing fa real fall season through your photos.
I love seeing all the quilts you’ve finished. Now if it would just motivate me to finish a project.
rsgrandinetti(at)yahoo(dot)com
I get so so much inspiration from your blog! Your quilts are beautiful. I’m amazed at the rate at which you produce them… and I enjoy seeing each and every one.
I have always wanted some Heather Ross fabric. A little goes such a long way. I enjoy your blog very much. Keep on quiltin’.
Wow, such beautiful fabric. Thank You. I really love your blog and all of your quilts. I would love to win those VW’s in blue and pink because I’ve decided that I’m not making any more unisex quilts – so that means I need to make 2 versions for each baby on the way. These would be a perfect starting point!
I would love to make an HR quilt someday. I’m currently hemming a bridesmaids dress as a favor (yawn) and will reward myself with making a quilt when it’s done. Keep up the good work, your quilts are incredible!
I love your website. It is such an inspiration to me. I am new to quilting. I am going to try your bento box quilt. I love the idea of mixing up the blocks. The colors are great too. Thanks for taking the time to post all your knowledge, your projects and your progress.
Diana
Well I truly love reading your blog and looking at your beautiful quilts – I get so excited when I see a new post next to your name in my reader! I am just trying to start out in this quilting world and even though I have quite a stash now, I just can’t seem to be able to make the first move, and choose a design and cut the fabric!!! Argh! But hopefully my quilts will one day be as beautiful as yours xxx keep them coming!
I am amazed by your every post at how much you produce! It inspires me, makes me envious, and makes me scratch my head a little…. HOW DO YOU DO IT?? Thanks for all the beautiful quilts and inspiring me to set off the blocks with white or other solids… You make it look so easy!
Oooh! OOOOOH! I LOVE this fabric, and I so desperately want to win it! Please add me to the looong list of entries. Who knows, I might get lucky! I saw a VW van yesterday, freshly painted a brilliant yellow green. It made me think of the song “Convoy.” Do you remember that one? There was a line about “eleven long haired friends of Jesus in a chartreuse microbus.”
I don’t mind the repeat. I think that fabric would make adorable pockets on backpacks for little girls.
Oh! Hope you pick me! The cute VW fabrics remind me of my old hippie days! . . . Your quilts only get better and better – so refreshing to see after a long day at work!
I feel overwhelmed with projects right now. All I have is a list staring at me to get going. I have 3 or 4 quilts lined up and many items of clothing for my daughter. I’m sure a Halloween costume will be thrown in there as well. Thanks for your constant inspiration!
I love your blog and make a point to check it every few days. I’ve been quilting for about a year, and so far have only done hand-quilted baby quilts. I’m inspired by the bright colors and modern designs you come up with. I recently started a Kaleidoscope string quilt like the one you showed here–I’ll have to build the blocks as my scrap stash grows, so that one will be a looong work in progress. I also want to start some kind of improv quilt with bird-themed fabrics as the focus, so that’s what’s bouncing around in my head for the time being. Thanks for sharing your work.
Oh dear, I do so love those busses. I’ll tell you two things. First is, I have had two Volkswagen busses in my life: a red one named Urge which fits in the palm of my hand, the other light blue, lifesize, and named Maggot, but I’ll spare you the why. And second, the project I am working on now is my second ever quilt. I am machine quilting it, but stopped tonight to hand quilt my daughter’s name on it. I’m awfully pleased with myself.
If I win your FQs, I will put them into a quilt I make for me. Selfish, I know.
Your quilts were the first ones i saw the fabulous quilting on the back. its like having 2 quilts in 1. i love all of them. i have bought momo wonderland fabs to make a fun lap quilt just for me. you are truly a quilt artist!!!
Oh, My… I have never seen this fabric and I think I need it…. Thanks for the chance.
Awesome giveaway
I was just talking about the VW today. I started a cake business, and I would love one to haul my cakes around in.. wouldn’t I be stylish?
That fabric is adorable! I’m currently working on a quilt for my 6 month old daughter; I’ll finish it someday! Your quilting accomplishments are such an inspiration!
Please enter me in your give away!
Im doing one too so come on over and enter..
I just started collecting HR to make a quilt for my 30yo step son .. now I am hooked! like nutty! over the stuff!
I have made 30 blocks of a string quilt inspired by the ones you have made – I am still going, the strips I have already cut are going much further than I thought. If I win your lovely fat quarters, I will add them into my string quilt – which I am making for my new house.
Your blog is one of my favorites on Reader! I’m working on my first quilt – ever – although I’ve had a life long love affair with my little circa 1950′s Singer Slant Needle machine!! We only go back and forth and zig zag, but the fun we’ve had together!!
I think it would feel right at home sewing on VW buses!!
So cool! I love that fabric…
Your blog is a breath of fresh air – gives a fellow quilter something more interesting to be inspired from than the “regular” stuff! Keep up the good work!
I stumbled upon your blog a few weeks ago which I have enjoyed tremendously and has provided plenty of inspiration. Currently I’m working on the courage to start my first quilt. However the process of deciding on what fabrics to use is quite daunting!!! There are so many gorgeous ones available.
I am pretty new to your blog, but I LOVE it! I started sewing when I was about 8 years old but I haven’t had time to do much in the past few years. Since reading this blog, I have become so inspired and I am finally starting to sew more! It is so therapeutic and relaxing!
nice giveaway!! I’m working on a quilt for a friend who’s getting married. Its coming along slowly since I seem to be making a lot of mistakes (sigh)
Love your blog. Your quilts give me lots of inspiration. I am currently working on an hourglass quilt for my 8 year old niece – all pinks and whites. Thanks for the giveaway!
Wow…377 people before me would love to win those two lovely fat quarters. I am ready to start a quilt using some new, new fabric and not using a pattern. You have inspired!!
Your blog is so sweet! I love checking in, getting inspired by the colours + sheer number of quilts you turn out!! I teach, so my summer’s are crafty + my school year is busy – looking forward to being inspired by your next 200 posts!
I’ve just recently stumbled on your blog, but I love it! Your use of color, pattern, and fabric is always fabulous and inspiring. I’m working on a Denyse Schmidt inspired quilt right now, but I’m going to try one of your strip quilts next!
I love the fabric. I am working on some brazilian embroidery right now.I bought it long ago and I have to get it done.
I love your use of white fabric and am about to embark on a postcard quilt with your style as my inspiration.
I love those little camper Vdubs! I’d love to try some wonky log cabins featuring those! I’ll add it to my mile long list
But maybe at the top of that list! I don’t mind pushing back my applique a little
but I may just have to work faster so I can get some of these projects completed that have been so patiently waiting for me!
What a generous giveaway! Your blog is my first stop after I get my coffee! I love your quilts! I find much inspiration here!
Have a great day!
i finally started sewing again yesterday! i just didn’t feel like it for a while, and tried to push myself, but now i got into it again and feel rather happy. finished some silk wrap pants i’ll post about, and am sewing a top today, and am planning to sew me a yogamat. quilt, rather
Thank you for all of the lovely ideas. Paper-piecing looks fantastic! I’m going to do that for my next quilt.
Goodness I love this fabric! Partially because it’s so cute but also because my dad has a VW Westifalia that we use for camping. It is so much fun!
Thanks for being so generous!
I have finally started quilting again after taking a 5 year break (w/ a few quilts started in between that time, but never finished). In the last few months, I’ve started looking at quilting blogs, & I have been re-inspired. Now I’ve finished 1 quilt top & am almost finished with another one.
I’ve also just recently discovered Heather Ross & absolutely love her fabrics. She may be my new favorite designer next to Amy Butler.
I absolutely love your quilts & can’t wait to try making a few of my own inspired by them.
After being gone all summer I just started sewing a scrap baby quilt, because sewing is the best therapy to work through all what happened the last few weeks and at least has usually one good result granted. I already found an idea for a second small quilt and would like to try to piece the back of one of the two small quilts instead of using just one big piece.
Your blog is a constant source of inspiration! Thanks so much for your dedication and great give-a-way!
I have been working on hush hush projects for most of the summer (if working at all!). But it’s fitting that currently my last blog post presents a MoMo Wonderland quilt where I used your idea of quilting 1/4 inch from the ditch on both sides of the seams. It’s gotten good use as my goddaughter’s bedspread, so thanks for the idea!
I hound your blog, I check in everyday and think to myself if I only I had her fabrics. I live in Oman and have never seen a Heather Ross Fabric and had never heard of one untill I started reading your blog!
I’ve only recently stumbled upon your blog and was instantly in awe of your quilts! Lovely and so inspiring!
I am hoping to get a quilt started for our child we are adopting from Russia though in the next couple months. I am looking forward to making that. Now…just to decide on what fabrics!
Unfinished or in progress projects?! I’ve got plenty!
Thanks for posting about your nine patch! My mom is working on one at the moment, and I sent her a link to your site so that she could see the cool way you dealt with the back. I love quilts that are interesting on *both* sides.
Well first, I love your blog! I fully plan on making a string quilt using your tutorial
So, my husband and his family are HUGE VW fans, and my father in law buys old VW buses, fixes ‘em up, keeps ‘em for a while, then sells ‘em again. I would love to have some of this Heather Ross fabric to incorporate into something for them!
Thank you for the inspiration, I just love it!!!
Thank you for the give a way!
From the Netherlands, Linda
I check your blog daily and you amaze with not only the front but the backing of your quilts……………..you are awesome.
I love reading your blog! I wonder how you have time to quilt so much. I feel like you are the Engergizer bunny. Watching all that you do motivates me to go and get crafty! Thanks for all of the inspiration!
As I already told you in another comment, you’re really a divine inspiration for me;)
I have two (dream) quilts in mind! The first one is a diamond kaleidoscope à la Kaffee Fassett and the other one (but I have to practice a bit (a lot) my ribbon embroidery) is a BeeQuilt à la Gipsy (http://gipsyquilt.blogspot.com/search/label/ECP).
And you???
Tell us about your (dream) quilt(s)!!! ;D
Hi! I’m hanging around following what you do and I dooo. Many of your quilts inspire me a lot. Please count me in your give-away.
/Susanne in Sweden
your quilts have been a huge inspirtion to my less than a year old quiltingness that has taken over my thoughts and free time.
love your blog, love your quilts, and would love to win a giveaway….I’ve never won any of them. harumph. oh well.
i love quilting and love coming to your blog to see what is new and to get a little inspiration. I am so in love wtih heather ross fabric and would love to win the FQs! Who wouldnt right! haha.
Thank you for your blog and thank you for the giveaway. I love this fabric so… I have to say it… please enter me.
From Spain.
I need to make a bag large enough to carry my sewing around.
I decided (back in March) that I would make a quilt for each of my siblings’ families for Christmas. I’m the youngest of 7. I don’t even have one top finished yet, but two are getting close. I had a baby in December and thought I would have a little extra time being a stay at home mom now. Boy, was I wrong! We’ll see what gets finished! I’m contemplating mailing the quilt tops out for Christmas and letting them decide if they want it quilted or fluffly and just tied.
I love your blog! I find your quilts and style so inspiring! Fingers crossed that gorgeous Heather Ross VW fabric finds a home with me.
Your choice of fabric is delicious and makes the quilts such eye candy. Love catching up on your blog.
Your quilts are very pretty and your speed amazing! I love reading your blog!
I am a quilter ‘wannabe’ and looking at your quilts has got me into action. So far I have sorted my stash, designed a quilt (don’t know how I will go without instructions!) and got my trusty sewing machine fixed. The fun begins this weekend……..thanks for all your inspiration.
Cheers
Lisa T
Wow,lovely material, today I have just posted some machine embroideries to people who entered my giveaway. Although they weren’t the main winner I decided to spread some love around. Happy days.
Your blog is a great source of inspiration. I look at it very often.
Right now I´m working on a secret-quilt. The block is called “split nine-patch” and with four blocks together it looks almost like a “pinweel”. I´ve done 196 block in red and white. And when I´m done it will be a doublebed-sized-quilt. I´m gonna give it to my brother and sister in law for christmas. But it´s almost so I wanna keep it to myself
Have a great day!
How exciting! I always enjoy reading your blog and ofcourse just staring at all the lovely creations. I am always in awe how many quilts you make at such a quick pace. Personally I take things a bit more slowly. Just started collecting fabric for a hexagon quilt I’m hoping to make.
Hi there Ashley, I love your blog and your quilts!! I am a beginner and always look for inspiration in your blog. I am working on a baby wonderland quilt
I don’t really know when it will be finished because: 1. I am a beginner, 2. I hand-piece and hand-quilt 3. The weather has been so good these last days here in Germany than I cannot convince my boyfriend to stay at home so that I can sew
Anyway, those beautiful Heather Ross’ fabrics are so sweet!!
I think I’ve said it already, but your blog is soooo inspiring and finally got me quilting after wanting to do it for….uh….si,nce I graduated college 17 years ago in fact. Even bought my first sewing machine 6 years ago meaning to quilt, but got sidetrack. You have shown me that I don’t need to deal with fussy patterns and painful exactitude, and that they can look as fresh and modern as anything. Thank you thank you thank you, even if I don’t win the fabric (Though I would definitely love to use them in the decorating of mye daughter’s room that I’m working on.
I really love those fabrics! I’m working on an insanity quilt – about a thousand hand sewn hexagons. As well as a Ruby Wedding quilt and a baby quilt. And desperate to start a 9 patch as they look fantastic…. Thanks for the great blog.
Fran F.
I’d love to use some of these fabrics in a small project I have in mind, I wanna do a bib for baby of some friends
Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration. Keep up the amazing work.
Could I be lucky #400?
Congrats on the two milestones..I certainly enjoy what you are up to and seeing your inspirational posts.
Wow only a year? But you seam to be such a professional at the blogging thing.
I’ve been quiting for 3 weeks! Or should I say top sewing. I’ve sewed 4 tops for baby quilts…yet to tackle the actual quilting part…
Your quilts are so amazing. I am just in love with your “second time around” quilt. Even the backing is a work of art.
Thank you for being an inspiration.
hmmm, well I’ve got 10 quilts on the go atm all in various stages of completion, but just can’t help myself starting another.
I am working on what I call a pinwheel design quilt. Like you I am not too into patterns so I get tons of inspirations from all the fabulous blogs I follow then tweek those ideas into something of my own. I am constantly amazed at the body of work you produce. Must be a labor of love! Thank you.
Great quilts love your blog. It wonderful that you share your work with everyone. Thanks Sherrille
Thanks for such a wonderful blog and congrats for hitting the year mark and the 245 post mark! Your blog and work are certainly an inspiration and I look forward to it. As for what I’ve been up to – some new bright baby quilts.
Obviously I am not alone in finding your blog immensely inspirational! I love the way that you bring such freshness to quilting. You’ve made me start to break out and do my own thing – and the quilts have been easy, and very effective. Sadly, I can’t keep up with you adn the number of quilts you make – but I am making far more than I used to. Wish I’d seen your blog earlier and could have collected some of this fabric – can’t find it anywhere!
the fabric rocks. Living on PEI, where they have the largest population of vw buses,it would totally rock to make a bag out of that amazing fabric!
You inspire me. Now all of my quilts have pieced backs–they become ‘twofers’ — I have in turn passed this on to my quilting buds and all but two of them have also begun to piece their backings , delve into their stashes and created original quilt backs — they too love the ‘new’ look. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your designs and of course for these too cute Heather Ross fat quarters. Ann
I just finished patchwork duvet covers for my “baby”‘s dorm room. Still need to finish up some wonky log cabin pillows for the futon! Keep up the good work…You and your creations are amazing!
I have in mind a project for my sister and her 3-year old daughter. I’m gonna make some reusable grocery bags for them. The little one loves to help out, so I’m going to make one that is just for her to carry.
Your quilts are such an inspiration. And I love those fabrics!
ooh – i missed out on the VWs the first time around…they’re so cute!
i’m about to start a queen-sized ‘plain spoken’ quilt for my friend’s wedding next july. the goal is not to leave it to 2010…
It’s no understatement when I say that your blog helped get me into quilting! Thanks
I have been so inspired by your style of quilting that I think I may try it! I have never ever wanted to quilt as it alsways seemed too country for my taste …. that is until I stumbled upon your blog:) Thanks for all the great tutorials and for giving me a reason to want to cut into my beautiful stash!
I LOVE your blog, I check it just about daily with my coffee! love your quilts, they inspire me so much, I am currently working on a ragged squares quilt and starting a purse today (hopefully!)
Thank you for the chance!
Love the campers! Congratulations on your blogiversary.
Hi Ashley. I’m not commenting for the fabrics as I live too far away for it to be worthwhile you posting them. I did want to say that your blog is inspirational, your quilts are amazing and congratulations on your recent milestones. Keep up the good work!
I had a long comment written but this ate it…
so in short.. kudos on your accomplishments
I love reading your site and gain many thoughts/inspirations for my own quilting… I hope to be as gifted some day as you are
Congrats on all your recent milestones! Yay you!!!
I am using your string block technique to make a Christmas gift for my niece… black and whites with some “funky” colors mixed in. They will surround an applique piece in the center.
I look forward to reading your blog every day. Thanks for your inspiration!
And thanks for the fun giveaway! My daughter has been asking me to make a VW bus quilt to go with my collection of die-cast VWs!
Who could complain about two giveaways with such adorable fabric?
I am not yet a quilter, but I find all of your work really inspiring, and I am starting to think about (finally) attempting a quilt of my own. I always love seeing the colors and patterns you put together!
I’m a new quilter with just a little over 1 year of quilting and reading quilt blogs. I enjoy yours very much. I’m also going to be a first time grandma in Feb so I’m very excited to start working on baby quilts! Thanks for all your sharing.
I so enjoy visiting your blog. I love your clear colors and use of solids. I wish I had more time to be creative!!!
Wow. Congratulations on your milestones. I am up to my eyeballs sorting the mountain of scraps I have. 2010 is going to be the year of scrap quilts.
That fabric is awesome and it would make the perfect apron for a friend who love VW vans!
I finished a quilt for my baby nephew in May, and now he has a baby brother or sister on the way! I just started quilting in September 2008, so I didn’t have a chance to get my hands on this fabric when it came out. This would be perfect for me to win because 1) I adore this fabric, and 2) I can use it in my new niece/nephew’s quilts whether it is a boy or girl.
Thanks for all the inspiration you provide. I love your blog.
I truly love your blog! It’s a bright spot during my day at work. I have made two string quilts after being inspired by your Kalidascope Quilt and have plans to try a windmill quilt too. Thank you for sharing your beautiful creations.
You are so sweet to have a give away! I’m starting work on Christmas presents, so there’s not much else going on. Thanks!
Wow! How great is this giveaway? I’ve been kicking myself for not getting any of this fabric when it first came out. My boyfriend has been into vintage VWs since he was a little kid. He’s owned just about every kind of VW, but I like the busses best. OK, maybe the coveritble Beetle was THE best. But on thw whole, busses win my heart. This weekend I should sew up a skirt for a 6 year old birthday or make up those produce bags I keep saying are next on the list or start one of the gazillon quilt ideas that are roaming around my brain. We’ll see what the muse drops off…
Thanks again for sharing your *fabulous* projects with us! =]
Wow, by the number of comments, there are a lot of people looking for these fabrics including me! I’ve been admiring your string quilt and modified bento box quilt for awhile and would like to make it some day. My fabric stash isn’t quite as bright or colorful as yours so it’ll be interesting to see if I can pull it off based on contrasting light and dark fabrics. Thanks for sharing your quilts with us. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
I love this fabric! What a great giveaway
Thanks!!!
What fun fabric! I love VW!
I’m working on a coin quilt… ready to be basted…
I WANT to a start a few different quilts:
9-patch
wonky star
ORB quilt (from quilt-along)
triagles
Yeah – I have way too many ideas bouncing in my head!
Thanks for the chance to win! I would love this fabric- never been lucky enough to get my hands on any of it. I enjoy your blog! Right now I’m working on some curved quilt piecing for the first time, but soon I want to try out your string quilt- love it!
I enjoy reading your blog. It has been a great source of inspiration and a much needed kick in the butt to get some sewing done!
I Love the 9patch quilt. such a simple yet effective pattern, definitely on my to do list!!
The fabric is so cute! I am in the middle of making baby quilts for friends that are due this fall, but really want to start working on a cathedral window quilt – it really intimidates me with all the hand sewing involved.
Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration you give me!!
I am currently working on an autumnal UFO – I am begining to remember why I cast it aside oh so long ago, but alas i am trying again.
I am also collection blues & oranges for a new quilt for my son & those blue VW vans would go perfectly!
I just found your site maybe a month ago. Your quilts are beautiful and so inspiring! I had never been drawn to traditional quilting before, but I drool over all the ones you make. They really have a modern aesthetic. I am a pretty beginner sewer, but I am thinking about giving a zig zag quilt a shot. And oh- the VW bugs are my favorite, and I wasn’t sewing yet when they were around!
congrats on your milestones! i just finished a baby quilt inspired by your patchwork quilt. i really enjoy following your blog!
Awesome Giveaway! I was just browsing on your site scoping out your far far and away quilt. Such a great quilt! I really enjoy your blog and always get such great ideas. =)
I just happened upon your blog today and what beautiful quilts! I am getting ready to start my first quilt ever and am totally inspired!
I have really enjoyed you website. I think you have a very fresh approach to quilt making & have encouraged me to try more quilting. Thank you for sharing.
have enjoyed your blogs and creations. thanks for this chance to win some heather ross fabric!
I have so many quilts in mind that I recently started writing them down (so I wouldn’t forget them!) I am currently working on a circles quilt using the Riley Blake fabric. Should be cute. Thanks
I love the fabric! Thanks so much!
Love your quilts! Can’t wait to see the next…and next…
I’m always amazed at your output and enjoy the colour choices and patterns. I guess we are always drawn to the sites that mirror our own tastes. Right now I am working on a black and white quilt for my 89-year old mum (she’ a stylish, trendy older lady!) and one for my daughter using fabrics that she brought back from Uganda after her volunteer job ended. So I am busy with very different colours and patterns, but both types are inspiring. I would love to be entered for the Heather Ross fabric, as my last quilt, called Waterworld, was made from her Endocino (?) line. Thank you for your generosity.
I love this fabric (probably because I am such a fan of old vw’s anyway (I’ve owned 3)). I’m sure I could easily find a project to work it into and seeing as I just finished up a backpack for my toddler my sewing machine is itching to start something new.
Wow- this is a crazy number of comments. Maybe HR needs to bring this print back, right?
Just started a string quilt group on Flickr and hope to see you there!
Are you kidding me! Seriously? Like 478 comments as of right now–more as I type. I check your blog like 3 times a day for new inspiration. and nothing last night, and now seriously? 478 comments!!! Seriously???? WOW!
Okay, so I’m almost your neighbor being here in upstate NY (Lake George area). We just had Pfish perform at SPAC last weekend. Need I say more? I really love Heather Ross. I don’t have any. I would love to win your drawing. Seriously!!!!
Always nice to have a little extra fabric and free fabric sure brings a ton of comments!!!
Wow, great giveaway! I’m starting work on a quilt for my six year old and one for our bed that my DH has been begging for. I feel really daunted trying to make a quilt for myself. It’s weird, I am frozen with indecision because I feel like it has to be the best and the most representative of me, and the prettiest, i’ve ever made. That’s a tall order. Ever feel like that?
I love your work and reading your post.
I am trying to find time to work on a baby quilt for my friend’s baby girl due in a month.
I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog, and I’m hoping to follow your string quilt tutorial sometime soon!
Hi – great giveaway.I have so many plans but am now moving to a new continent so so much on hold.
I’m a huge heather ross fan. Her fabric lines are always so lovely. These are some of my faves.
WOW…almost 500 people really, really wants those two very cute FQ…I’m still in shock at how many people have responded to this….it’s really amazing. I can’t hink of anything projects that I’d use the fabric for, but I’m sure I could come up with something if I won, since I’m working on making a quilt for ALL of my nieces and nephews for Christmas, which there are 3 girls & 3 boys, ages ranging from 2yr to 11yr (they have way too many toys & this will be more personal aways)! Well, good lucky to everyone who has entered the contest!
This fabric is adorable! I’m expecting a baby boy in October and am set on making as many of his blankets, clothes, etc as possible. One of my favorite memories is touring the country in a mustard colored pop top VW with my sister. Hope to share such adventures with our little one shortly!
I have collected Australian prints to make your “this end up†quilt for my son. I love your blog!!
Oooh, that is cute- would love to use that to make something for our little camper!
oh my gosh… your projects are such an inspiration to me!! I only started quilting a few months ago but I’ve been sewing for years. Right now I’m working on a space-themed quilt for one of my boys, but I’m DYING to use up the tons of fabric scraps I have in some fun little improv-type quilt!!
Hey there! Thanks for being an inspiration! I am new to quilting (so new that I haven’t done one yet – mostly because of working on other projects) but have a dream to make one for our bed. I’ve been inspired by the backing that you do on your quilts, they are so beautiful too!
I love your blog! Right now i’m in love with the string quilts and can’t wait to make my own
Oh, I’d love that fabric. I’m just finishing up the binding on two robot quilts – one for my little guy, and one for a baby of a friend. I love your quilts, always.
I have to tell you, those little VM vans give me the giggles! I don’t know if I could cut into those pretties, but if I did it’d be to make something JUST for me, that I could look at (and giggle at) all of the time. Actually, it’d be cool to have them here in my cubicle, so much better than the industrial grey and sticky notes I’m looking at now!
I love your blog, keep up the supremely wonderful work!
Your work is always so inspiring! I enjoy looking for new posts and pictures everyday!!! Thank you!
I check your blog almost every day! I so appreciate the beauty of your photos and the inspiration of your quilts. I have a 9 patch in the works and want to start a 6 minute miracle quilt soon. Thank-you for the opportunity to win some awesome fabric…..it reminds me of our trek to Alaska in 1968 in a VW Bus, I was six, great memories.
I love this fabric. I need to make a baby boy quilt and I’m looking for fabric with blues, browns and orange. I just love that combo. I’m loving your quilts!
love all of your work!
So many comments already
I always enjoy reading your blog – I really like the freshness of your quilts. I would love to win this fabric because we recently had to sell our VW camper van… and I am miss her (she was lime green and cream). I am making a thousand triangle quilt at the moment… its going soooooo slooooowly….
Thanks for sharing all your work! Cheers
I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog! Your quilts are inspirational! I am currently planning a baby quilt for someone who likes orange-I love your use of white as a way to showcase your favorite fabrics and I think that might be the direction for me to take. It is also a warm feeling knowing that we are fellow Vermonters!
I stumbled across you blog a couple months ago and I have checked it everyday since! I love your quilts and your blog! thanks!
If you haven’t decided to do it yet, let me say again you should enter some of your stuff in the Fair! There are lots of categories you could fit into with stuff you’ve already made, and you might even sell some there. I am entering the first mini quilt (well, first real quilt of any kind) that I’ve ever made. Hope to see some of your stuff there!
I love your blog and am a HUGE fan of Heather Ross. I had the pink vans but used them for my daughter’s lovey. Now I wish I had some to use in a scrappy quilt.
Crossing my fingers I get lucky!!!
I found you through Eddie Ross’s blog (I think you won some giveaway there) and I’m so glad that I did. I have always been drawn to quilts and the idea of quilting bees (even as a little girl). Although I do not quilt yet, it is something I’d love to do eventually. My sister just started quilting and I’m so proud of her efforts. (I turned her on to this blog too – we are both huge fans!). Who knows, perhaps winning this fabric would be just the boost I need to start quilting.
This site is my daily lunch hour entertainment…not to mention my inspiration for the quilting I have started…FAVO site for SURE!!!!
I am very inspired by all of your lovely bright colours. I now have a string quilt on my “TO DO” list. I would also like to do some bunting for my son’s bedroom (so cheerful). I also have some lovely blue and green (with a bit of hot pink thrown in!) Amy Butler fabric to make into a throw quilt for my living room. I also have decided that my livingroom should be repainted a brighter, lighter colour to better highlight all of the quilts! Crazy and backwards approach to decorating? perhaps…
I am STILL working on a quilt due over a year ago. All that’s left is the binding, but that feels insurmountable! I really need to get it done…
I am always inspired by everything you make Ashley!! Thank you for that!! I would absolutely love to win these fabrics….it’s timely as I’m heading to Heather Ross’ Sewing Weekend workshop in Vermont next weekend – with Denyse Schmidt as a guest…how incredible is that!! Thanks for the opportunity to win a great giveaway!
I am just getting ready to sit down and make my first quilt and checked here for inspiration. I would love these fabrics to help start my fabric stash to go along with my yarn stash!
Ah, I love her line. I’m finishing up my second skirt with HR fabrics in it! And am already wanting a third. Heh.
You have probably already drawn a winner, but I just wanted to comment and tell you that it is always fun to check your blog. I love how you think ‘outside of the quilting box’ or at least, outside anything I knew of quilting. I am currently working on my second Wonderland baby quilt, and hoping it turns out better than the first (there were a couple of small issues:-). Thanks for a great giveaway.
I LOVE your quilts!! And I’m amazed at how fast you are! Right now I’m finishing up the top of a Disappearing 9-Patch with Moda’s Oh Cherry line. And I can’t decide what’s next… either something wtih Moda’s Nest (the fabrics have been sitting on my table for months), another string quilt, or a Log Cabin with Katie Jump Rope (haven’t made a Log Cabin before). Thanks for all the inspiration!
Oh, Ashley, I would love, love, love these!!! I am starting a baby boy quilt in blues that would be perfect with the blue VW!! Love your quilts, as alwasy!
I have been collecting Lightning Bugs like a mad woman for my daughter’s twin sized quilt. She’s only 1, I figure at the rate my sewing projects get done these days if I start collecting now I might have this quilt done by the time she moves to her big girl bed and needs a twin sized quilt!!
I love looking at you quilts. I am now making quilts but do lots of bags and wallets. These two fat quarters would make such a cute wallet! ^_^
Well. I wasn’t going to work on anything big but keep getting sucked back into thinking I need to work on another quilt. They are just such good stuff. Lovely giveaway!
What a cute fabric giveaway – thanks!
Right now I really need to finish my DQS7. Sor far, I’m in love with it, but I just have not had the time to sew it. I really should shut off the computer and turn on the sewing machine…
I have a quilt all sandwiched and ready to stitich. It’s been sitting like that for at least 4 months. It started out as a baby quilt. Now I’ll be lucky to get it to him by his 1st bday. You know how it goes. Thanks for the give-away!
I just recently found your blog. You have such fun quilts. Right now I’m working on Sweet Pea’s Quilt by Cinderberry Stitches. But there are so many projects I would love to do. On that list is a zig-zag quilt, an hour glass quilt, and a log cabinish type quilt
I’m new to your blog, found it when I was Googling and fell in love with your Kalidescope Quilt. I’ve made a version of it with wider solid strips and have another in progress. So fun – thanks for both the inspiration *and* the tutorial!
i have 3 quilts going right now, and i am getting ready to start a baby quilt. this will be my first commissioned quilt. i am a little nervous about it
Wow, Heather Ross – wowza, over 500 comments:) I just love your blog because it inspires me – I had not quiklted forever – then I started getting inspired on-line – thank you!
You are very generous! I love your work… you have inspired me to use more white solids in my quilting, which I absolutely love. By the way the back on your 9 patch is TOO cute! I’m definetly going to try that.
I really love the backing on your last quilt. The charcoal and the little scraps are too cute together.
Oh Man!!! That would be so great to win!!
You needn’t enter me in your giveaway, I just wanted to say congrats on a year of blogging. Blog anniversaries are good reason to celebrate, I think. I enjoy your blog and seeing what you are working on. My quilting endeavors get mixed in with other fibery pursuits so I don’t get quilts done as often (or quickly) as I would like. Right now my son and I are working on log cabins, fairly traditional ones. It’s been a fun and intersting project.
I love your quilts! They are so inspiring. I have drooled over many of them. Several of them are on my wish list and to make list. I love the kaleidoscpe, baby quilts and 9 square quilts. I also love the colors, combinations and patterns that you come up with. I am also amazed at how many you are able to complete in such a short time. I am always starting projects and never finishing them. I just recently finished an i spy quilt. You probably know what that is but if not it is made of 100 different squares of fabric that can be used to play the i spy with my little eye game. My kids love playing the i spy game with it. My next project is jean quilts for my boys. I plan to make them reversible ~ john deer tractors on one side, and red cowboy fabric on the other side. I love this fabric and would love to win it and add it to my collection.
This hippy at heat would love to make a quilt with that fabric!!!
dear ashley, i so love to check out your blog and get great inspiration, so thanks so much for that! congrats on the 245entries
, may there be many, many more!
i would totally love to win because i found out about the beauties of heather ross fabric just some weeks ago. however, all the best to you and please, please keep on going!!!
take care, claudia
I think this fabric is so cute! I really never win anything, so it would be cool to win it. Not sure how I would use it yet. Maybe in something for my kitchen, it’s decorated in old car stuff and comics.
I love your quilts. You inspire me
I love your site and your quilts! Thanks to sites like this, I have gotten back into sewing and quilting and I currently have 4 quilts in process. One is basted, one I have started piecing and two I have started cutting.
I’d like to enter the giveaway! As to what I’m working on now, I just finished a 9 patch quilt top, and I’m hand sewing a tumbling blocks quilt (this is a long-term project). The list of quilts I would like to make is far too long to be listed here!

It’s so neat to see the lines form a zig zag.

I love your name Ashley. I am trying to finish the top quilts I’m making for my sis and myself out of ONE Wild Blossom layer cake. Meanwhile, the fabric is waiting in the wings for my next quilt. Probably will quilt all these early next year when I have enough to buy the batting.
So amazing to see the amount of sewing you do! Nice job!
I’m on Cape Cod right now, and have seen vans that look *just like* the ones in that fabric! The weather has been great – though I look like a cooked lobster because the sun got to me (despite sunscreen!).

I check your blog regularly and am amazed at your productivity. Also, you have a great sense of colour. If I was lucky enough to win this fabric, I would incorporate it into something that recalled family holidays when I was young. We had a van like this and went camping etc. when life was much simpler than it is now.
I love your quilts. So modern and interesting. And the fabric giveaway–how generous you are to part with it. I’ve been wanting some for so long but can’t even find anyone who sells it anymore!
My computer has been on the blitz for a couple of months but whenever I get a chance to get on I look at your blog. And look! just in time for your giveaway. Yeah!

I’m pretty new to quilting and working on building up a fabric stash. It’s pretty clear that fabrics could quickly become an obsession – these are adorable.
Congratulations on the milestones. I love to check your blog and be inspired. I’m also new to quilting, and am collecting fabrics for a few quilts I have planned. Thanks!

I especially like the blue – I’d make something for my son – it’s hard to find stuff for 9 yr old boys!
I love your blogs!!
Ashley – your blog and quilts are so inspiring!!! I am a beginner quilter and would love to hear any insights, tips you may be able to share. Thus far I have basted my quilts with quilt safety pins, with varying results. Appreicated your tip to use 505 spray adhesive. I am satisfied with my patchwork quilt tops but seem to hit a wall with the actual finished quilt. Thank you in advance!!
Wow, that’s a lot of comments. I love those fabrics. I am working on a Quilt with the brown and orange Joel Dewberry Aviary Collection. It’s the hip to be square pattern a lot of cutting which my daughter help me with. I hate to cut. But, the top is done just need to do the backing and quilt it.

Hi Ashley
Your blog is very inspiring and your quilts completely amazing, don’t know how you do it! I have just finished a quilt for my 4 year old boy (he sleeps under it, I am happy!) and am about to embark on one for his 2 year old sister who is very demanding and wants it now! This fabric would look great it in!
After I found your blog I tried out quilting…
And now I’m addicted.
Oh, and I loooove that fabric. It is not available here in Germany
.
If I ever get hold of it, I am going to sew something for my boyfriend, who owns one of these VW-busses.
Wow, there’s alot of people wanting to get their hand on this fabric!! Nice giveaway. At the moment I’m not really working on too much quilting (though I have lots of things in progress that need to be finished), but I’m making a few clothes for my kids.
your quilts are absolutely inspiring! you are so talented! and seriously, where do you find the time to quilt so dang much! love your blog!
♥Love all your quilts.. beautiful♥
Very cute fabric. I would love to win it! And yes, that last quilt is amazing.
I find my thoughts consumed with sewing things for my two little boys lately. Right now I’m making them shirts (romper for the baby) out of some really cute fabric I found. A few weeks ago I made them some fun buffalo tees (well, I embellished store-bought tees). I have absolutely no desire to go buy clothes for them. I’m in a making mood! Uh-oh. It sounds like I’m nesting. I don’t think I’m pregnant.
Wow, can you imagine having the time to read this many comments? Obviously everyone is crazy for HR fabric
Your nine patch is fantastic. I finished my top, but need to buy more safety pins for basting it. It was a bit bigger than I expected.
Hi, I just did a blog about your blog a few days ago telling all people how much I like quilts with bright colors and sending them to your blog to have a look!
We are still in holiday mood and I don’t achieve much at the moment except painting a bookshelf bright red and folding mountains of laundry. But next week school starts, so I will grab my chances!
Love your blog! You are so inspirational!! I always seem to make things more complicated than they need to be, but you remind me that simple is beautiful and it is something I strive for . P.S. I’d like to win this great fabric!!! I have been looking to purchase a few fq’s!
I just starting ready your blog last week, I love your color choices, Especially the Kona Coal one. I really have been inspired! I would love to win the fabric!
You have a great eye to be sure. Love to see your work. Thanks for the chance.
Ooh, thanks! This fabric was “before my time” and I would love some…
I am working on Denyse Schmidt-style scrappy blocks for a quilt for our room. They are soooo addictive: no pinning, no planning, just go with the flow. They are really fun to do when you have just a couple of minutes before work or before you go out.
Very fun, and before you know it, you’ve got a LOT of blocks done!
I just recently discovered your blog and I am so inspired! I learned how to quilt about a year ago and I have yet to finish the one quilt I started- it’s a simple 9 block baby quilt with based on a classic Pooh fabric I found. I’m hoping to finish it this month and then start another one. Can’t wait!
Cute fabrics…..I used to have a VW van back in the 70s. (yes, I am that OLD). I’ve just finished a quilt for my daughter’s friend heading off to college….need to get the label on. I love your blog, and seeing your latest projects.
