another weekend sewing project

The weekend away travel bag (from Heather Ross’ Weekend Sewing)… sometimes it’s nice to do a small, quick project! Lately I haven’t been doing much sewing – either I’m having quilter’s block (is there such a thing?), or it’s simply the start of summer…

In any case, I’ve had a fear of zippers, so I thought I’d try out this pattern to see if I could get over it. I’m pleased to say that it was surprisingly easy — fun, even! I like that there are only 3 pattern pieces and it really does come together quickly and relatively easily.

I went for this great Etsuko print for the outside (love those pigs!), paired with the blue stripes from the new Lizzy House Red Letter Day line. I just now took a look at the Flickr pool for Heather’s book, and was so surprised to see someone else had made this exact same bag in the exact same fabrics! Must be a good fabric pairing!
